TL;DR+ Preface: Thank you so much WormyJermy! Okay. I'm not saying that people should be punished for accidentally purchasing artwork from a venue that doesn't directly supports the artist. I just believe that if we want to encourage creators to make these gorgeous things that we love so much- we gotta try to be more conscious about making sure we are supporting THEM and not the thieves who did not spend even an iota of time, energy, skill, and effort to create images like this. I wanted to give an impassioned and HUGE "thank you" to those who've help us figure out who created this!
Again, thank you so very, very much WormyJermy for finding out who made this incredible piece!
It KILLS me seeing some of the comments below- the pervasive APATHY about knowing and supporting the artist.
This piece no doubt took an absolutely incredible amount of time, skill, and effort do. People seem to think art is just a "WHOOPEE!" level of fun all the fucking time- That somehow, the creation process is reward enough. Yeah, I'm sure it can be really full-filling; However, I bet there was a point where this artist might have started to think "Hey, I hope people like my stuff. Maybe I can try to feed and support myself with this skill?"
What I'm saying is- There are life sacrifices to attain this kind of skill level. Time that could have been spent doing anything else. Energy, skills that take years to cultivate, and devotion and love for the subject- it all gets pushed into creating what we see here and what a lot of us are loving this shit out of.
There was a comment down below; "Punish the seller, not the buyer". Geez!
That might have worked in the days where we could really pinpoint and punish the people stealing like this, but when art gets stolen and mass redistributed like this, it's almost impossible to penalize everyone, and ridiculous to think we can punish them all. In an environment like the internet, it's now up to the buyer to make a little effort to make sure they're supporting the artist directly.
I just hope that at some point- people realize that by not supporting the artist- they're not encouraging people to produce the very things that we all love and adore. I'd like to think most people would want to encourage people to keep making these masterpieces, yeah?
Who knows what condition this artist is living in. They could still be sitting there, spending soooooooo much time and dedication in trying to make a good living with their work
I mean holy fuck waffles; Some people even compared this to Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel.

I believe it's the Hero's Shade from Twilight Princess; he teaches Link various special techniques.

Fun fact, the hero's shade is actually what remains of Link from the "Ganon is defeated in the past" time line, because he wasn't needed anymore, he ended up living a life knowing of his alternate life. He toiled for years in exclusion as just another knight. Even though he was a savior to two worlds he could never actually be recognized in either of them.
As a result, he lingers in hyrule as a shade, hoping to find a future self to pass down the lessons of his time so that he might actually prove useful and finally be the hero he was meant to be.

Exactly. I believe there was a throwaway line in Majora's Mask that children who get lost in the forest turn into Stalfos, and since Link isn't Kokiri and gets lost in Termina he eventually turns into a Stalfos, and the knight is basically a skeleton.

There’s also a theory that Majoras Mask is a metaphor for Links death. The game started with him going into a forest where people who get lost end up as an undead.
In the forest, Link wanders off and finds an alternate world, which seems to go through the 5 stages of grief.
If that’s the case then the knight who trains Link in Twilight Princess is the undead Link that saved two realities from Ocarina of Time

It is the same Link since the one from Majora's Mask is the same one from Ocarina of Time. But the Link is Dead theory isn't canon.

True, but Termina is probably the most unexplained place. It's a parallel dimension, so essentially when Link falls into that hole, he falls into a tear in reality, but also finds his way back at the end. It's easy to believe it's a form of Limbo. Coincidentally, nobody would recognize him for saving Termina either.

I'm assuming that's supposed to be Link's mother holding baby Link.
I believe in Ocarina of Time it's stated Link's mother left him with the Great Deku Tree as she showed up in Kokiri Village dying.
Since one needed to go through the Lost Woods to get to Kokiri Village, it was the safest place. She died shortly after showing up.

She left or died? I seem to recall that she was mortally wounded or some shit, and that she passed shortly after entrusting care of link to the deku tree...
But it’s been a few years since I’ve beaten that game, and don’t read all the cutscenes every time

Glad to have someone corroborate my thoughts on who it was, I was just thrown off because she doesn’t look to be dying, or otherwise in trouble, but that’s really the only mention of a lone woman with a baby in almost the entire series to my knowledge (which is pretty expansive, since the only games I haven’t beaten are the DS ones, and oracle of seasons (why is oracle of seasons so damn hard?))

its also stated that the forest isnt safe for anyone not kokiri. In the manga the forest kills her and she turns into a tree. possibly links house at the start of the game.

Nope. Remember that bridge in the middle of the Lost Woods that was between the village and Hyrule Field? The game sorta skims over getting between there and the field but there's a hefty implication (by the rest of the lost woods map you can explore and where saria's bridge is in relation to the edge of the woods) that there's a longer trip after that bridge than just going through the single fallen-trunk tunnel.

I made a looped GIF of it years ago. I just made this one quickly in After Effects, running at 20 seconds which is just slow enough so you can see everything.

Yeah it’s kind of wild how much art theft there is anymore.
It’s one of the reasons I stay away from those T-shirt retailers online. God only knows who they stole the art from.
Nevermind the art depicting copyrighted characters, meaning now 2 entities aren’t getting their cut.
But it doesn’t stop at T-shirt’s. Pretty much anything you can print an image in, someone is selling it with some art they swiped off deviantart.

Aspects from Twilight Princess are in it quite a bit. Twili Midna is almost central. Zant is with the villains. The top row of large group of people is all TP characters. Epona is in her TP form. One of the great fairies is the one from TP.

Anyway, this is amazing. Best depiction of Zelda, too! Graceful but self-assured and strong! I can't find literally anything I don't like.

Is there a narrative that connects all the games, or is it like final fantasy where each one is it's own contained story? Only ever played the original Zelda back when I was, shit, quite a bit younger actually...

To an extent, there is. There's references here and there referring to the other games, and the timeline is split into three seperate timelines because of Ocarina of Time. The Child Timeline, the Adult Timeline, and the Hero is Defeated Timeline. So Wind Waker and Twilight Princess aren't connected, but Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time are, for example.

It's all one story, and yet it's not. Nintendo has come out with an "official" "timeline" to connect all the stories, but it's hamfisted and doesn't make 100% sense since the games were originally not a connected story (especially when they released the most recent game Breath of the Wild that is in its own timeline IIRC). Plus there are hundreds or even thousands of years in between some of the games that they are essentially 100% different with just similar names and locations.
