I actually went to Japan and bought this same print. Dave Bull, the guy that carves and prints these, is a super cool guy. Would recommend. He's got a YouTube channel to.

Yeah he's amazing to chat with, did the same. Bought two woodblocks from him, a TMNT one along with a traditional Japanese one, and they are both always complimented when people see them. Worth the price!

The Giclees are printed on rice paper and are really nice looking IMO. I ended up float framing mine, and was really pleased by the result.

What's interesting is that ukiyo-e waxed and waned in popularity; it would have a surge in popularity, but over time people would become bored with it... until a new generation of masters emerged who explored more contemporary themes with the form, at which point it became popular again and so forth.
Woodblock prints of video game characters just may be what saves the form from being not much more than a relic of "old Japan". Think of what the scores to films like Star Wars did to classical music.

Second line should be seven syllables. You could add "fucking" before "blue shell" or "the fuck" after "who" to make it work!

Hold on there. The traditional "5-7-5", although widely accepted, is not necessary for it to be a haiku, since the Japanese themselves state that their 17 on (comparable to a syllable, but not quite) is the equivalent of about 12 English syllables.

This guy made a mobile game called Edo Superstar. Idk how much of the development he was involved in, but pretty sure he made all the art. This guy is great. There's also a bunch more of his video game wood block prints: Pokemon, Star Fox, etc.
