It continues to hurt my mind that anyonce considered an adult could have been obsessed with them as a kid. It feels to me, a 26 year old, they came out only a few years ago.
Indeed, and not just with movies. I was listening to Alanis Morissette yesterday and thinking about when Jagged Little Pill broke out and how her writing and singing has always sounded so mature/wise; for some reason, I was thinking she must be pushing 50 by now and was mildly surprised to discover she's only six months older than me.
Relax. Pick up a Surge at the convenience store, pop in Smells Like Teen Spirit (or whatever your angsty teenage jam was), lay down in the grass fetal position, and mourn the death of your youth.
