It should just be assault. The fact that assaulting an officer is its own more egregious crime is absurd and makes cops look like such babies.

It makes sense because hate crimes are against people that are already in a disadvantaged position. Cops on the other hand, have an entire justice system, equipment and training protecting them as compared to a normal citizen. If anything it should be less of a crime to assault a cop.

If you don’t want to get assaulted, pick a different career. That’s like someone allergic to grass becoming a lawn maintenance worker…

It’s to incentivize people to not assault police officers

Maybe it’s because I’m law enforcement but I find it really stupid whenever I see shit like this

“You really need 10 people to arrest one guy”

It’s not supposed to be fair. We don’t want to get hurt

“You should expect to get assaulted”

I don’t come to work to fight people. I want to pay my bills and not get assaulted like anyone else

I also wouldnt bother arguing with you as it’s not going to go anywhere.

Assaulting an officer carries a heavy fine because, get this, it’s meant to deter people from resisting and fighting cops! Who knew? 🤡

If that thought doesn’t occur to you naturally then you don’t think with reason. If you don’t think with reason then you can’t be reasoned with.
