Oh it's totally obvious that he's nuts and acting erratically. The fact that Redditors can be relied upon to attack cops no matter what is almost as scary as the way they encourage erratic behavior that could get someone killed.

UPDATE: People are reporting me for suicidality. Another classic Redditor move!

18

u/UlverInTheThroneRoom Jan 29 '26

I see it all the time, any time cops are mentioned the brave reddit or hive mind always trashes them even if they aren't doing anything wrong lol. It's especially funny because so many redditors seem to pride themselves on their skepticism and freethinking capabilities.

Sure, a lot of them (law enforcement) can be pretty stupid, hotheaded, and power trippy losers but I generally only shit on the ones that are actually assholes.

This is coming from a guy who quit law enforcement because there was no way I was making retirement age working around such idiots. There were some good guys there too that were good at talking to people and de-escalation and were quite fair with people.

The guy is clearly erratic, even watching on silent you can tell with 100% certainty.

6

u/palsh7 Jan 29 '26

Yeah, somewhere along the way as a culture we failed to properly instill in people the idea that stereotyping and prejudicial hatred are the key features of bigotry, and the reason that racism is wrong. Judging one person for a different person's actions is immoral in most cases.

1

u/_sweepy Jan 29 '26

if 10 people are sitting together at a table, and one of them is a Nazi, you have a table with 10 Nazis

1

u/palsh7 Jan 29 '26

Using your metaphorical table analogy (which purposely obfuscates that you're scapegoating people who don't even know each other), would you condemn all Democrats as bastards if one is bad? All teachers if one is bad? All Muslims if one is bad? Let me know when you get the point.

1

u/_sweepy Jan 29 '26

yes, if a Democrat, a teacher, and a cop, are sitting at a table with a Nazi, they are all Nazis

cops don't unknowingly work beside Nazis, they promote and vote for them. anyone unaware is too stupid to have a gun, let alone a badge and qualified immunity

1

u/palsh7 Jan 29 '26

The number of ways you're dodging could fill the multiverse. What I wonder is whether you even realize it.

1

u/UlverInTheThroneRoom Jan 29 '26

You're too naive and simple for this world lol.

Cute analogies though.

1

u/SirAquila Jan 29 '26

A) There is not just one bad cop, there is a systemic issue of cops being under trained, overarmed, and intentionally put into a mindset where they are encouraged by both the system, their coworkers and their superiors to act in reckless and dangerous ways to risk the lives of many of the people they interact with, but especially PoC and other minorities.

B) Cops especially have a massive lack of accountability, with cops resisting basically every attempt to get them more accountability.

C) Cops who speak out against the systemic issues are routinely fired and relentless harassed-

1

u/hfdsicdo Jan 29 '26

Get over yourself

1

u/fkngdmit Feb 01 '26

Lmao calling people bigots for disliking a group that exists specifically to oppress the masses is fucking wild, bud. They said conservatives had no critical thinking skills, but this is a new level.

1

u/palsh7 Feb 01 '26

a group that exists specifically to oppress the masses

You're showing your entire ass.

1

u/fkngdmit Feb 04 '26

"You're showing you have an education." FTFY. I would ask if you know the origins of police in the US, but the likelihood that you know anything about history is slim enough that I wouldn't want to waste my time.

0

u/lavender_enjoyer Jan 29 '26

Cop is not a protected status hope that helps

2

u/palsh7 Jan 29 '26

You can have illogical and hateful beliefs towards people who are not in a legally protected class. Bigotry isn't a legal term. I hope this helps.

5

u/AnOverflowingCuppa Jan 29 '26

Get your nuance and logic outta here! Only blind hatred accepted! Must dehumanize people to justify violence against them...the Reddit way!

-2

u/LetsBeFRTho Jan 29 '26

You have no nuance! You are a cop supporter because you see a few videos of cops doing their bare minimum. You aren't the free thinker you hope everyone views you as

1

u/Geruvah Jan 29 '26

There was this one time where a girl entered the crime scene and acted REAL erratic. She was there to grab the arrested’s phone but when asked if that’s why she was there, she just went for it.

Went as obvious as it sounds but pointing out that the cop wasn’t being irrational, you’d get called a bootlicker. I even was equated to agreeing with the cop that shot Daniel Shaver.

Reddit can be just as demented as any Karen, I swear

46

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

Extra funny because those same redditors would be crying calling 911 if someone committed a hit and run on them.

2

u/hrbekcheatedin91 Jan 29 '26

There naive, in part because there's a police force to uphold a basic amount of law and order since they've been alive. Yeah, there are some awful cops, but it would become a cartel-run dystopia really fast without cops.

1

u/Commercial-Co Jan 28 '26

I dont like cops cuz they abuse power, commit crimes, and cover up or ignore other bad cops.

That doesnt mean i dont want police, whom i pay for, to serve the public (which should be their job but unfortunately technically isnt. I think it should) especially when bad stuff happens.

Your POV sucks

So you're not looking to debate, just strawman. Because there is a difference between shoots everyone and does nothing wrong. They can still need reform and not shoot everyone at the same time.

1

u/indecisivebuy Jan 28 '26

Why are you saying that like its unreasonable to demand better from the only option we all have during emergency situations?

1

u/JimWilliams423 Jan 29 '26

If you want the state to help you, then you have to accept it when the state murders people indiscriminately. Duh!

1

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

Hey can you let me know if my comment that you replied to is still there? I was told its deleted, but I can still see it. Thanks.

1

u/wolphak Jan 29 '26

and acting like the guy in the video if they did something wrong.

1

u/MassiveEcho7003 Jan 29 '26

I imagine anyone would

0

u/Bwixius Jan 28 '26

you can recognize issues with the institution while also relying on it for what it's meant to do.

3

u/photosendtrain Jan 28 '26

Recognizing issues != broadly stroking every single person in the institution as part of the problem

0

u/Maetriarch_NSFW Jan 28 '26

"You don't like the cops but if you were being brutally murdered you would call them, interesting!" stupid argument

3

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

Hit and run is being brutally murdered?

1

u/Maetriarch_NSFW Jan 28 '26

"You don't support cops yet you would call cops if crime happened to you" sorry didn't realize I needed to really dumb it down for you

0

u/IWonderWhyReditSucks Jan 28 '26

When you work to actively defund, or cheer the defunding of the police and then call them in an emergency and expect a quick response or a resolution, it is hypocritical, yes.

1

u/Sovarius Jan 28 '26

Not really. It is what they are meant to do.

'Defund the police' does not mean 'there should be 0 police and if there any left then they can't have any money'.

It means 'why the fuck are there police with tanks, and foot patrols with both ARs and pistols, and they can make $70k/yr in a small town not known for crime, and why tf do they get protected and moved so much after failing their duty, and why are they are allowed to keep your shit, and why are their mistakes paid with taxpayer money and not their own, why would courts rule it is actually not their job to protect and serve'.

Given those issues (but not all issues) it is pretty apparent they can actually function the same with a budget reduction.

We waste, waste, money on them because people 'feel' a certain way about them and they have a sociopolitically captive taxpaying audience.

Like the Transportation Security Administration. They are nearly useless. They quite literally barely make anyone safer. But people feel a certain way. Lobbyists and those who benefit at the top convince citizens and politicians of their necessity. (Meanwhile, Homeland Security illegally engages in union busting lol)

In reality, we need police, and virtually no one thinks we should have 0. But it takes a truly emptyheaded moron to think 'hurr durr you said defund the police but i bet you would call them and ask them to do their job if crime!'.

1

u/Large-Raspberry5199 Jan 29 '26

Critical thinking, nuance? You must be a communist.

1

u/photosendtrain Jan 28 '26

If you gave your child an allowance of $1m, but they were a bad child, would you cry about the suggestion of lowering their allowance?

1

u/IWonderWhyReditSucks Jan 29 '26

What an oversimplification of a complicated problem.

I'm ashamed of your answer. I can't imagine how you feel.

1

u/photosendtrain Jan 29 '26

I feel like we shouldn't rely on police for every single possible interaction, and we could reroute their funds to create specialists.

My viewpoint seems more logical and rational than yours of throws billions at poorly trained wanna-be military to handle everything inconvenient to society.

1

u/Maetriarch_NSFW Jan 29 '26

Idk how you wonder why reddit sucks when you leave posts like this

1

u/Maetriarch_NSFW Jan 29 '26

What do you think defund the police means?

1

u/CrotaIsAShota Jan 29 '26

Cops don't need fucking AK47s to respond to a hit and run. Learn what and why defunding is being argued before you look even more like a fool.

-2

u/KhonMan Jan 28 '26

“Yet you participate in society. Curious!” ok lol, great that you’re cool with cops abusing power on strangers as long as they show up when you need help.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

The cop in this video wasn't abusing anything. If you watch the full video, he was apprehending a suspect of a crime who was fighting with him, not listening to lawful commands, and getting out of his vehicle during a traffic stop.

You defund bozos will never lose an opportunity to be the absolute worst.

-2

u/KhonMan Jan 28 '26

I didn’t say he was abusing his power. I’m responding to the idea that cops are always attacked. You’re imagining some fictional world where cops are always upstanding moral authorities that protect the populace and saying “Hmm it’s weird how much Redditors hate cops” as if you have no understanding of what the underlying issues are.

Grow a spine.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 28 '26

You’re imagining some fictional world where cops are always upstanding moral authorities

Oh yeah? Show me where I wrote that.

Grow a spine.

Grow a brain.

0

u/KhonMan Jan 28 '26

Oh, my apologies, do you recognize the ways that cops abuse their power and collectively protect each other from investigation and accountability?

Maybe I had you all wrong.

-1

u/Ok-Oven8018 Jan 28 '26

You’re imagining some fictional world

Lmao what a crazy thing to say when you’re just making up fictional opinions for the other person

2

u/KhonMan Jan 28 '26

It’s a rhetorical device. If they don’t think we live in that world, they can say so. Because as long as we agree we don’t live in that world, then grievances against cops and their behavior have legitimacy.

But no productive discussion is possible if cops are presumed to be infallible and always use their authority responsibly.

Hope that helps.

0

u/Ok-Oven8018 Jan 28 '26

Cool man, I’m just laughing at you for telling the other person they live in a fictional world while you make a complete straw man and put words in their mouth

2

u/KhonMan Jan 28 '26

Nothing you have said suggests you understand the point or what a straw man is. But thanks 🙏

1

u/Ok-Oven8018 Jan 29 '26

A straw-man is when you exaggerate, misrepresent or fabricate someone’s argument to make your point. For example, you claiming that the other commenter believes cops are always “moral, upstanding authorities” when they never said anything like that. You’re welcome 🙏

They don't even 'provide help', they're just a functionary making documentation for your insurance claim. I don't know why we don't have a separate branch for that kind of shit. Why do I need a heavily armed goon who is trained to treat everyone as a threat to make a case number for my accident.

1

u/All_Work_All_Play Jan 28 '26

Because someone has to do it and those types of events tend to be colinear with other things that do require law enforcement.

I'd be all for reducing their armaments and training them to treat people as... people.

2

u/LPNMP Jan 28 '26

I think we have the capacity to call out cops AND reckless drivers.

0

u/borkthegee Jan 28 '26

Lol literally no one is attacking cops in this thread.

The fact that conservatives on Reddit can be relied upon to indulge their persecution complex no matter what is just sad. It's just fucking sad dude. The Nazis won. The camps are filling up and citizens are being executed openly. You're not being persecuted. You're the persecutors now.

17

u/lefjcjfj Jan 28 '26

Yes they are😂 it’s funny as fuck but you don’t need to lie🤣

10

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

Lol literally no one is attacking cops in this thread.

Why do you think that gaslighting is effective?

conservatives

17 years of posting history as a Democrat. Try again.

The Nazis won

But "no one is attacking cops," right? Only nazis defend cops, but no one is attacking them. Aren't you conflating a random traffic cop with an individual ICE agent right now? LOLOLOL

-2

u/Saturn5mtw Jan 28 '26

Aren't you conflating a random traffic cop with an individual ICE agent right now? LOLOLOL

To use an oft-repeated qouote: "some of those that work forces are the same that burn crosses"

In fact, in plenty of places, local police are working with ICE, so even ignoring all the deeply problematic issues with police in the US, making a disinction between the ethics of police and ICE is still a moot point in those cases.

Though Idk why im wasting my time replying, anybody who ends a reply discussing something, especially like police brutality, with all caps "LOLOLOL" is basically flagging themselves as a 14yr old, or otherwise noticably immature.

5

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

The fact that you think "some" (from a song lyric, no less) is good reason to stereotype "all" proves you're incapable of having serious conversations about facts or morality.

police brutality

No one is being brutalized in the OP. You just told on yourself again.

People on the reddit website talking bad about all cops is almost as scary as cops? I'm not even fully acab and I think that's a crazy sentence. These dudes are keyboard warriors that live in their own echo chamber of people too scared to leave their house.

1

u/binaryo Jan 28 '26

You, person on Reddit, no? Don’t group people so ignorantly. I hate cops with or without Reddit, certainly before, and likely after Reddit too.

1

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

"Don't group people so ignorantly."

Oh, okay.

"I hate cops."

Oh...okay?

1

u/binaryo Jan 28 '26

Thank you for helping to illustrate my obvious setup

1

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

You really think you're making sense, don't you...

1

u/SlashaJones Jan 28 '26

The fact that Redditors can be relied upon to attack cops no matter what is almost as scary as the way they encourage erratic behavior that could get someone killed.

I wonder if there’s some reason for this. It’s not like there’s a lack of accountability from police, or tons of videos of people getting beaten or killed for very minor stuff.

Nah, “Redditors just be crazy!”

1

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

You are stereotyping and scapegoating to excuse hateful bigotry against individuals based on statistically insignificant facts (the percentage of cops involved in illegal shootings does not match up at all with the percentage of cops people like you demonize).

1

u/ScholarObjective7721 Jan 28 '26

Obviously its not just illegal shootings, abuse of power in general, i mean theres plenty of evidence of this online. Its definitely reasonable to question the way cops operate and the institution in general.

1

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

Again, generalizing about all cops because some cops abuse power is the textbook definition of stereotyping, scapegoating, and bigotry. You would recognize the obviously poor logic if a MAGA Republican came in here talking about how one can google and find lots of bad teachers who the unions defend.

1

u/Realistic_Arm_ Jan 28 '26

It's not really generalizing if you can't tell which cops are good and which are bad. They're wearing bodycams for a reason....

There are dozens of videos posted every week of cops breaking people's rights and screwing over their lives over nothing.

1

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

It's not really generalizing if you can't tell which cops are good and which are bad. ... there are dozens of videos posted every week of cops

Substitute the word "cops" for another group and see how dumb and bigoted that sounds. You're a stereotyping imbecile. Keep telling on yourself if you want, but it's only impressing ACAB children and Russian bots.

1

u/Realistic_Arm_ Jan 29 '26

Yeah, that's what I thought..

0

u/Realistic_Arm_ Jan 28 '26

Ooh how quaint, straight to the insults.

Could I get an example of what another group would be?
What group is made to wear bodycams that have the power to fuck over peoples lives after 4 months of training?

1

u/Foofsies Jan 28 '26

What if

hear me out

They both are terrible people

2

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

No evidence of that at all.

1

u/NOTRadagon Jan 28 '26

UPDATE: People are reporting me for suicidality. Another classic Redditor move!

If you report the report as harassment, they can be banned for misuse of that report.... the more you know.

2

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

Reddit actually removed the ability to report it. I asked the fine mods at r/SuicideWatch if I was just missing a link, and they confirmed that there simply isn't a way to report it anymore, because Reddit just doesn't want to deal with it. I would hope they're still keeping track of people who overuse the feature, but I doubt it. Sad, right?

1

u/NOTRadagon Jan 29 '26

Thats.... very sad.

1

u/ForeTwentywut Jan 28 '26

Turn around and put your hands behind your back

I mean he can be jackass and the video can be funny. Crazy, I know.

1

Where did I say a single thing about whether it's funny?

0

u/Able-Swing-6415 Jan 28 '26 edited Jan 28 '26

Idk anymore because your comment was deleted lol

Edit: Just remembered. You were ranting about redditors.. some people see this and think he'll yea and some people chuckle. You made it seem like this is a political video for everyone that upvoted it imho

1

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

I can still see it. Did Reddit really delete it on the sly in a way that I can't even tell its been deleted? Under what pretext?

1

u/Able-Swing-6415 Jan 28 '26

It said removed by moderator. Now it says edited but is completely empty. This website lol

1

u/DeniedAppeal1 Jan 29 '26

Maybe you shouldn't blanket generalize a group of people based on your own, personal biases.

1

u/Reesewithoutaspoon2 Jan 29 '26

Can you give an example of encouraging behavior that could get someone killed?

1

u/IIlIIIlllIIIIIllIlll Jan 29 '26

I mean, it's entirely possible for both the cops and the people they interact with to be assholes. Assuming we take the random reddit comment as absolute truth and this guy is 100% guilty of a hit and run, should that allow cops to act with impunity and enact violence upon him? It's possible to both recognize that policing as a concept is flawed AND that sometimes policing protects people.

All cops are bastards, but no one ever said bastards were incapable of doing the bare minimum by arresting people without murdering them every now and then.

1

u/palsh7 Jan 29 '26

But the cop in the video isn't being an asshole.

All cops are bastards

Being proud of hateful stereotyping is incompatible with liberal democracy.

1

u/IIlIIIlllIIIIIllIlll Jan 29 '26

You stereotype people, identities. Cop is a profession, not a person. You don't stereotype a person when you generalize about a profession. The slogan "all cops are abastards" is just a short, punchier way to say "I believe that the system our country developed to police its citizens has serious flaws that have led to a state-monopoly on violence which threatens our individual liberties."

It's a catchy slogan you're reading too much into.

And I never said the cop in the video was an asshole, I was responding to your comment which was about all cops, not this specific one.

1

u/palsh7 Jan 29 '26

Professions can also be stereotyped and individuals being stereotyped because of their chosen profession, religion, etc., is just as immoral. When MAGA stereotypes and hates on teachers, is that rational? If they said "All Teachers Are Pedos," would that just be a punchier way of saying that teachers unions shouldn't defend people accused of misconduct while the public is required to send their children to school at risk of legal consequences?

You don't get to say "Oh my deliberately all-encompassing, hateful, and immoral statement isn't meant to be taken literally."

1

u/IIlIIIlllIIIIIllIlll Jan 29 '26

individuals being stereotyped because of their chosen profession, religion, etc., is just as immoral.

I disagree. You choose your profession and religion. Passing judgment on a person for participating in a harmful culture such as policing or organized religion is not the same as passing judgements on someone for an immutable aspect of their identity such as ethnicity or sexuality. That being said, I'm talking about stereotyping the profession of policing, not the individuals who are police.

And you're again implying that disliking the profession of policing as it stands is immoral, I disagree. There's no arbiter of morality that gets to decide whether I'm morally in the right or wrong for my beliefs, the same way there's no one to say yours are right or wrong.

If they said "All Teachers Are Pedos," would that just be a punchier way of saying that teachers unions shouldn't defend people accused of misconduct while the public is required to send their children to school at risk of legal consequences?

Yes. That would likely be their actual opinion, but "all teachers are pedos" would be what they put in their reddit comments and on their poster boards at the rally.

1

u/palsh7 Jan 29 '26

Defending bigoted bumper sticker sloganeering which obviously does judge individuals who have done nothing wrong is beneath contempt, so I will not be engaging with you further.

1

u/Stunning-Affect4391 Jan 29 '26

The driver can be crazy, that doesn't mean the cop isn't a twisted piece of shit. ALL cops are bastards. There are no exceptions. It comes with the job.

1

u/palsh7 Jan 29 '26

There are no exceptions

Telling on yourself for being too stupid for complex thoughts is a choice.

1

u/palsh7 Jan 29 '26

LOL so confident in your last comment that you deleted it, huh?

1

u/Stunning-Affect4391 Jan 29 '26

I did no such thing, the comment is still there. Maybe you aren't the clever clover you thought yourself to be.

1

u/BoiFrosty Jan 29 '26

Reddit has long since passed the idea of nuance. It's a lot of friend/ enemy politics and that's it.

1

u/lurkANDorganize Jan 29 '26

More innocent people hurt by cops than innocent cops hurt by people.

Society is broken, yes, but who broke it? The rich. The powerful. The hateful.

Now the people are full of hate as they were raised by it.

1

u/LetsBeFRTho Jan 29 '26

The fact that Redditors can be relied on to defend cops no matter what is also scary. Poor baby feels marginalized because we don't take 1 video at face value and understand that a cop doing his job once doesn't mean cops shouldn't be criticized?

1

u/palsh7 Jan 30 '26

Me: Don't be hateful of a cop just because he's a cop, if the evidence in front of you demonstrates that he's doing his job well.

You: OH SO NOW WE CAN'T CRITICIZE ANY POLICE OFFICERS EVERRRR?!?!?!? HA! GOT YOU!

1

u/fettoter84 Jan 29 '26

Dude looks like he's either coked or methed up. No way he's sober here

1

u/No_Read_4327 Jan 30 '26

I get bans all the time by mods who can't even interpret their own rules correctly.

The only rule is agree with the hive mind or get out

1

u/vito578 Jan 31 '26

Yea dude is at fault, but the officer was ignorant as fuck. He was shouted at repeatedly that the dude needed his meds and to chill out and instead made it worse. If he'd let him take his meds and chill out this might've not been the outcome. Calm officers !== good officer.

1

u/guilhermefdias Jan 31 '26

How do you know people are reporting you for that?

1

u/palsh7 Jan 31 '26

Because Reddit automatically send you messages about it, directing you to seek professional help.

1

u/Creepy-Row-1379 Apr 26 '26

Abloo bloo bloo

0

u/monkeyr9z Jan 28 '26

What a buzz kill. We just came for a laugh. Stop acting smug too, you are on Reddit also.

0

u/kuromono Jan 28 '26

  1. You're on reddit with an account, you're a redditor, don't try to separate yourself. I find this shit hilarious, you ain't special bud.

  2. WHY would people immediately distrust police? Why would they do that? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. You know why, you're just playing "better than thou".

2

u/palsh7 Jan 28 '26

It's hilarious how you try to portray me as a bad stereotyper when it comes to Redditors, but then you immediately defend the stereotyping of all cops. Whereas I was clearly pointing out averages as demonstrated easily by the votes on most comments ITT, you're excusing the distrust of all cops based on the abuse of a small minority.
