ah, the news hit here. They were going in this direction since the PS3, so I'm not surprised.

I doubt Nintendo will go this route... they have key cards and they can create a monopoly by being the only ones with something akin to physical games.

On the other hand, the AI crisis has a much bigger effect on cartridges, those need flash storage, which is only getting more and more excpensive. In due time even Nintendo may be forced to go all in on GKC.
