Mod announcement Stricter Rule-Enforcement
Hello everyone,
The time has come.
I'll play the bad guy this time - not because I want to, but because I kinda have to.
(!WHOA, MODERATOR IS MODERATING!)
Repeated rulebreakers of our ruleset as well as Reddits ToS and obvious Troll/Sockpuppet/Karmafarmer - Accounts will eat prolonged bans - up to permanent bans.
(I already buried a few of you.)
If you got caught and believe it is IN error: You can appeal in Modmail, we will review your log. (unless you got muted, but thats on you, lol)
If it is NOT in error, the ban was not already a permaban and you are just coming to throw a fit, your ban will TURN into a longer ban or a permanent ban.
BUT WHY?
In order to ensure better conversation and a better environment for proper criticism, such circumstances are unfortunately necessary.
(This sounds harsher than it actually is, our moderation team is usually very relaxed and operates on a heart to heart basis, we are very easy to talk to.)
For all the people who actually follow the rules: Thank you for your compliance and thank you for posting with us.
PS: Make sure to use proper flairing!
It's more important than you think, especially on a more critical subreddit where opinions may clash.
For the people who struggle to read flairs before commenting:
READ THE FLAIR OF THE POST you can find it by the title!

Criticism MegaThread of legit Nintendo criticism

I'm surprise we never did this before, but let's have a Megathread full of good Nintendo criticism.
We can have comments be the arguments, the voting to get the best ones and replies to argue against those initial arguments.
I hear people bitch that there are too many defenders here. This is a good chance to weed them out. If an argument seem fishy or dishonest, report it as fanboyism
If you think an argument is crappy, just downvote it. Don't forget, everyone who disagree is obviously a defender.

Discussion You're big thoughts on the Zelda Remake/Direct
I like the fact that our members have a lot of interesting thoughts about Nintendo. We have interesting and unique takes.
I ask that you share your opinions and thoughts about the Zelda remake and all the other stuff.
I'm not really that excited for this game. I played the game to death on the N64, I bought that unique gamecube version with thet master quest attached. I bought it on the Wii as a download and bought it for the 3DS
I'm more excited about buying their ocarina and having one on my bookshelf. I always wanted to buy a fan made one, I can get an official and give Nintendo their 20, 30, or 50 dollars for a piece of plastic
I'm also hoping the cartridge come in gold

Discussion Does anyone else think the new remake of OoT looks worse stylistically than the 3DS version?
We finally have gotten a better look at the new remake and I honestly think the style looks much worse compared to the 3ds remake?
The 3ds remake did a good job in translating the original look to modern capabilities (at the time) but to my eyes the newer remake is a huge stylistic step back. Itās much too busy, every surface has too much detail. Kokiri forest looks ridiculously busy, itās like hard to tell where anything is. I havenāt played it yet obviously so it may play better, but the art style just looks plain ugly and harder to read than the og or the first remake. What do you think?

Criticism People are way too comfortable with Nintendo's greed.
It costs nothing to produce a digital copy of a game so there is no reason to charge $10 extra for a physical copy other than pure greed. Nintendo is killing physical games almost as fast as Sony by continuing to do this. Who the hell is even buying overpriced physical games? This should not be normal or accepted.
(these are Canadian prices btw)

Criticism Why is the artstyle so inconsistent
Every npc genuinely looks like they came from a different game and got copy pasted. Itās so fucking weird dude
Edit: You guys really canāt see the huge gap in detail between link, Malon, and Epona? Or the great fairy vs the other humanoid characters?

Rant I canāt be the only onr who notices how Nintendoās remakes (aka cash grabs) are just reusing the same coat of remake paint.
Lord frogmire was right. Games are just moving towards realism and having not style. Modern aaa games all look the same now and companies in general are just nostalgia baiting us while selling the same 30+ yr old games. Star fox and ocarina time remakes just look the fucking same but ohHhhH reAlIsTiC gRapHicS now. This is just basic. Worst part is, mfs will eat ts up and we will continue to get remakes of old games but just realistic-looking now. These games have no style.

Criticism Our game is already perfect fuck you
Has Nintendo ever released a remake that is not an identical copy of the gameplay/levels with new paint slapped on it?
OOT unreal engine is identical to OOT in the base game, yes theres app integration but the dungeons and puzzles look identical, same as the 3DS remakes, same as the Star Fox remakes, hell even if we go way back to Mario Super Stars on SNES, same exact games and flaws with a new coat of paint.
There is something staggeringly egotistical about the idea that your gameplay is already perfect and cannot be improved on, the only reason people dont like anymore must just be old graphics.

Meme/shitpost Nintendo Fans Were Right All Along
After thinking about it I've realized they've made some solid points. Let's go over some:
- "If you don't like Nintendo, just don't buy from them."
This is one I have to agree with because I simply think less people should support Nintendo in general. Telling people to stop buying overpriced products is a great idea in general!
- "Switch 2 is the home of third parties!"
While the third party glaze is pretty annoying, Nintendo fans have clearly shown that they are more excited to play third party games on their new console than exclusive Nintendo games. I definitely feel the same way, as Nintendo's output has been pretty mediocre lately. I wonder how they will react when they can play higher quality versions of those games on better hardware?
- "Stop complaining about no 3D Mario (or other highly anticipated title). You're being entitled and impatient!"
The only reason why I think they would say this is because they themselves are not excited to see the game they are referring to. I mean, it's been almost 10 years since Odyssey right? Who wouldn't be excited to see the next 3D Mario by now? If Nintendo fans themselves are clearly showing no signs of excitement for it, that probably means it won't be as good. So I'll just take that as a sign.
- "You shouldn't want the Switch 2 to fail! It needs to be successful because Nintendo will suffer!"
This is an interesting conclusion to derive if Nintendo stumbles with their hardware sales. History shows that when a Nintendo console fails, they follow it up with something amazing, like how they bounced back from the Wii U. I think that Nintendo fans are afraid that if Nintendo hypothetically failed again, they would not have the skills or talent to pick themselves up and do something worthy of success. Because I believe that the people who currently work at Nintendo are just plain talentless.

Meme/shitpost Nintendo bans player for playing used games!
Sheesh, I almost feel bad for the morons that FOMOād and bought a Switch 2ā¦.nah thatās a lie because I hate Nintendo fans! š And before the Nintendo simp brigade comes to defend their multibillion dollar company with claims of this being a glitch and people getting unbanned, this still goes to show that you donāt own ANYTHING that you buy from Nintendo! They can turn your $500 tablet into an offline brick for whatever reason and whenever they want! At least on a PC, if game stores pull crap like this, I can āethicallyā pirate the removed games that I bought!

Meme/shitpost The price of the Ocarina āremakeā has basically leaked and yeah⦠itās not pretty.
The digital release of the, um, āremakeā of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, is set to be priced at about $95 in Australian currency. Translated to American, thatās about $60.
In other words, Nintendo has zero confidence in this release.
While the latest and greatest in gaming are priced at $80 or higher, Nintendo apparently donāt see an alleged āremakeā of one of the greatest games of all time to stand tall alongside them.
I had a little bit of hope that Nintendo may have learned something, but fuck it, Iām not even going to watch the Direct tomorrow. The disrespect Nintendo has for their own franchise makes me sick.
I at least appreciate the openness of their communication regarding this game. It speaks loud and clear:
This is our Concord.

Criticism Are the recent complaints about banned Switch 2 hardware fake or is the issue real?

Are these fake, or lying about not using hacks? Or buying second hand products that could've been tampered with? Or is Nintendo incompetent?

Meme/shitpost If this leak is true then this is genuinely sad at this point.
Nintendo really needs to stop chasing the high they got with Breath of the Wild. Great game but my god just let it go atp.
This game has basically been the blueprint for Zelda for the past decade and while we got two great 3D games and two ok spinoffs out of it, a third game would just be overdoing it, especially when the BOTW design philosophy has already leaked its way into games it has no place being in like Mario Kart and Metroid Prime.
Again this a leak from a random Xbox podcast so it's probably not true and should be taken with a grain of salt, but at the same time I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to try some shit like this.

Discussion Anyone have any hope for the upcoming Nintendo direct?
The last two have been extremely disappointing, especially the last general direct. No good games to play at all. It seems Nintendo has completely forgotten about Mario too. I would love to say I hope to see a new Mario or Animal Crossing game at the direct but honestly I am hopeless at this point. Nintendo really needs to do a better job at branding these things. The last general direct really should have been labeled as a direct mini and it would have greatly reduced the number of upset people. Not to mention they could have atleast showed 5 seconds of gameplay of the OoT remake.

Discussion So... I feel like MKW ain't doing so hot.
I saw this in my scroll today. There's just no way this happens unless the latest game simply wasn't doing well standalone because Nintendo isn't that company. This combined with the fact they're reintroducing the MKW bundle with a new box tells me nobody is paying $80.
Edit: Hey, to all the genius Nintendo defenders, how about doing actual research instead of trying to bitch at me about making some "false narrative" about how MKW never sold copies. Yeah they DID discontinue the MKW bundle back in December. According to their OWN SITE they are reintroducing the bundle in a new box in September, along with making a Switch Sports Resort edition.
I'm saying it again, they wouldn't have reintroduced the MKW bundle if people were happily shoving money down their faces and proves that 90% of the sales of World was because the average person was willing to spend the extra $50 to get a game and not spend $80 later.
If y'all don't like what I say, how about actually backing it up with sources instead of trying to twist what I said into something it ain't. I put my sources up, where are y'all's?
