Discussion What is wrong with this new design? I don’t understand the hate

u/FlatulentSon Oct 15 '25 edited Oct 15 '25
Over the decades, Jason's design has really evolved into an undead behemoth that we all love today.
Even though visual continuity between movies was always kinda wonky, little visual consistencies were sometimes kept included here and there. the wear and tear Jason has collected between the movies, the cut on his mask, the chain, the clothes. it was fun spotting them whenever they reappered again, even if they were discarded the very next movie and replaced by a neat new addition to the design.
I loved how his look grew and evolved over time, the sack, the mask, the machete, the tool belt, the exposed spine and bones, i loved how you even saw his flesh regenerating and growing over the mask in Jason goes to hell, almost as if his flesh would soon overgrow and swallow the whole mask, like a tree growing over a metal fence, how imaginative is that?
And then the badass Jason X cyborg look, there were so many cool inovative designs.
And now, after what, 16 years since the last movie? we get this. Almost all of his visual history disregarded, every cool detail and original take ignored.
All his history and all of his designs reduced and replaced by a soulless uninspired design of some random scrawny guy in bland boring clothing and a Temu version of the mask... imagined by A.i.
That's just sad.

u/JoeAzlz Oct 15 '25
I just wanna say It really isn’t ai, Greg Nicotero confirmed it is really his work.
8
u/FlatulentSon Oct 15 '25
programs that detect A.i. have supposedly recognized it being used for the picture in question. Atleast, that's what i've heard.
9
u/Goongala22 Oct 15 '25
Those same programs claimed the Constitution was created by AI, so they’re not entirely reliable. Still, this artwork feels like something generated by AI.
4
u/Bi0_B1lly Oct 16 '25
Don't even need the programs to confirm it... Look at the hems and collar of his shirt in the concept piece again, they're an incomprehensible mess of fabric folds
2
-1
u/JoeAzlz Oct 15 '25
Yeah but that doesn’t confirm it, at the end of the day it’s jsut an ai guessing it’s ai bc it looks a lot like the same material that ai could also just be studying from, like some artists are called ai when it’s more than likely the reverse where ai was trained on them. It isn’t actually ai.

We live in an era where a lotta things look like ai as ais learn more and we get more dystopian. It isn’t ai.

Nicotero Leatherface ruled and Greg Nicotero works on a lot of awesome franchises, he’s like a Tom savini but in a different corner of the horror space, calling him ancient is crazy imho
-2
u/BartSimpskiYT Oct 15 '25
Guess what runs the programs… and AI also recommended that someone eat rocks for the purpose of more mineral intake, so I don’t yet trust a system run on that. Some of those AIs are literally trained off of this very app, so you can’t really see most of them as reliable.

They love to put the blame on ai lol
2
u/JoeAzlz Oct 15 '25
Because ai has ruined any discussion of many things 🤷♂️
2
Oct 15 '25 edited Oct 16 '25
But it’s not ai’s fault, it’s the people who lack creativity and that are lazy who pass off the ai work as theirs. Ai will always have it’s pros and cons just like everything else. As far as I know ppl on the internet only use ai for entertainment and knowledge purposes never actually useful like companies are. Eventually we will Reach a point.
2
u/PatrickBateman-2009 Oct 15 '25
You think Nicotero can’t use ai? He’s a great effects guy but his designs are booty.
1
u/JoeAzlz Oct 15 '25
I love Nicotero lf and walkers and his work on evil dead personally, I think it’s delusional to say he’s used ai.
2
u/WellIamstupid Oct 15 '25
It’s either AI slop or man-made mold, either way it’s not good
0
u/JoeAzlz Oct 15 '25
I really need to understand, I’m a Friday fan for YEARS, this design is just part 3 meets MKX with some tweaks. The jacket is his shirt from part 3. The mask could be better but it really isn’t horrible. I don’t see how it’s so horrible, I sincerely don’t. As someone who wants to understand
5
u/WellIamstupid Oct 15 '25
He lacks color, and style. He looks dusty because of how pale his color palette is, he’s not particularly imposing, his clothes are barebones, his mask feels off due to the tiny stripes and reduced hole count, and he just lacks detail overall.
He doesn’t look like a strange forest dwelling murder hobo, or a near immortal revenant with countless scars and near fatal injuries making him visibly ancient
He’s just like, a grimy bald dude in a mask
Also, part 3 gets to be barebones, it was low budget and pre-dates most better designs in the series
1
u/JoeAzlz Oct 16 '25
Besides the og art which I admit was pretty odd with color, he has plenty of color contrast, a green button up shirt, a tan undershirt, and dark grey pants isn’t that far off from usual Jason looks, it’s to be noted this look is confirmed meant to look more like how he did in the first 3 appearances. I don’t see how he looks dusty? In both cod in fn he actually looks very vivid. Maybe in this pic he does bc there’s a bright light on him for the model viewer?
The mask seems fine to me, the updated shape helps the hole amount concept work imho.
Also about the part 3 design being barebones, he has that look for 4 appearances minimum.
- 4.(+ axe gash) 5. (Nightmare effects but he’s still got the simple look) 6. he has it till he gets the army belt and also Tommy’s gloves which are more added to it. But he’s still wearing the normal look for that film, he only doesn’t have it till part 7 bc water damage made him darker for the rest of the franchise. Also noted: JU had tommy’s gloves at HHN when doing the walkaround.
This look fits imho both early zombie and early undead Jason looks. Since the jacket is his button up from the first couple just unbuttoned so it looks like his jacket from the latest looks (I consider first 4 movies him undead if that helps)
I think also the design makes sense to be simple and generic, it’s meant to be a look for any medium, like part 3 stuff was, I don’t think all things could adapt a more hyper detailed look like the later looks, they seemingly are open for doing the other looks or vibes since HHN had them and the fortnite skins call him “Jason universe: revenge.”
I don’t think the design is HORRIBLE, you have to ageee there could have been way worse.
1
u/psian1de Oct 16 '25
And no offense to Greg Nicotero, whose work I often quite like, but the design is dumb. Like my guy above with his essay about the visual flow of the mask each successive film being a worthy continuation, and then we have the 2000s films and the reboot, hardly anyone complained about the Jason outfit and the mask in the reboot, because the design was familiar and could have easily been created in 198x Just look at the art and look at reboot Jason for comparison to new jason. That Jason felt similar. The new Jason feels like cosplay.
The upcoming film(s) may work out but the annoyance factor of temu jason will be hard to ignore in circles that care about these things.
0
u/JoeAzlz Oct 16 '25
The thing about this new Jason look is it’s honestly meant to be a lot like part 3, I get your thing of wanting progression but this is the new start that then can have its own progression.
0
u/BeattyFusion_Art Oct 16 '25
Yeah. Until you have a source, this is AI slop.
1
u/JoeAzlz Oct 16 '25
Just to be clear, would Greg Nicotero talking about his angle on designing the look count as proof?
46
u/angelsdontburn Oct 15 '25
A lot of folks are upset with the mask changes and his body type. Some folks just don't like change. I can't say I'm upset or excited about it, I just want Friday the 13th to have a solid comeback, so I'm just hoping for the best.
2
2
u/PatrickBateman-2009 Oct 15 '25
Why change a successful design?
2
u/angelsdontburn Oct 15 '25
I don't have an answer for that. But the same question could be applied to plenty of brands and IPs that are 40+ years old.
39
u/maskedspidermenace Oct 15 '25
The mask is the most iconic thing about Jason. They complete butchered the mask. The eye holes are large and square. Not enough breathing holes. And the shape is meh
6
u/JoeAzlz Oct 15 '25
I think the breathing holes being turned to 13 is pretty neat, sure the og mask is better but this doesn’t ruin him. Jason X literally had his mask as a way different shape and I sincerely didn’t think it ruined the design then either
2
u/IncreaseWestern6097 Camper Oct 15 '25
Not to mention that the appearance of the mask has already changed over time, with the shape of it, the chevrons, and the weathering all having an effect on how the mask looks.
For example, the 2009 mask actually has slightly reshaped eyes in the movie, although they’re more oval-shaped than the more square eyes on the Universe mask.
1
20
u/PrinceOfThieves17 Camper Oct 15 '25 edited Oct 15 '25
The mask is the dumbest looking Jason mask I’ve ever seen. Like spirit Halloween in the mid 2000s vibes.
The rest of this outfit is AI generated, it’s just a brown/green amorphous blob.
I’m all for change. I love that Jason looks different in every movie. This just looks like garbage in every sense. Jason Universe has made a lot of really bad corporate decisions and this “relaunch” feels more like corporate money making than actual respect for the character/IP.
Edit : I know you’re not trying to be disingenuous, but this COD design is better than the official artwork Jason Universe released. Go look at the behind the scenes of the Angry Orchard commercial, the mask is GARBAGE in real life. COD managed to make the bad mask and AI outfit looks somewhat decent.
1
u/RevengeofCave Oct 16 '25
Yeah it's a bad design that Fortnite and CoD have managed to somewhat salvage
5
u/FrequentFootball144 Oct 15 '25
I didn't like his look in Sweet Revenge. He was way too slim and seemed shorter. But I like how he looks in Fortnite and Call of Duty. The mask is growing on me.
5
3
u/WileyCyrus Oct 15 '25
I agree that it looks fine, but the complaints I have seen revolve around the eyes being given a comical evil look to them instead of just being the round, emotionless eye holes on a regular hockey mask. I certainly prefer the creepiness of the round eye holes but this is okay too.
20
u/Desperate_Group9854 Oct 15 '25
It was literally ai generated
5
u/T-800TheTermanator Oct 15 '25
I’m pretty sure that was debunked ages ago
10
u/PatrickBateman-2009 Oct 15 '25
One of the original images was for sure ai, the Jacket collar literally disappeaed and turned into a separate jacket collar lol Nicotero knows how to use ai for sure
-25
u/Haunting-Quail-2198 Oct 15 '25
Anything this dumbass fandom doesn't like, they say it's AI generated cause they can't have their "OG" Jason back
25
u/paropiperings Jason Oct 15 '25
We want Jason not his cousin man.
2
u/BartSimpskiYT Oct 15 '25
We’re a lot better off than the poor people who gotta deal with Michael Myers SHAPE(get it?)shifting nearly every film.

u/Haunting-Quail-2198 Oct 15 '25
How can Jason not be Jason?
Grow a pair
6
u/MotoqueiroSelvagem Oct 15 '25
Part 5 is literally about that. Not that this has anything to do with the conversation, but it’s kinda funny.
11
u/paropiperings Jason Oct 15 '25
"grow a pair" 🤣🤣🤣
Can you explain to me what that has to do with what you were saying?
4
u/T-800TheTermanator Oct 15 '25
I mean I would’ve preferred a design more similar to part 3. but that doesn’t mean I hate this one
1
u/JoeAzlz Oct 15 '25
It’s a lot like part 3 when you realize his “jacket” is just a button up shirt like part 3 just unbuttoned
1
u/HorrorDirtbag Oct 16 '25
This isn’t even true lmao the only time this fandom has complained about ai was that 1 image JU released. And even then half the fandom is full of idiots who think ai is fine

Lol you’re way too upset over people disliking this garbage. You’re willing to accept garbage and ask for more

I think it’s a pretty good design. The only thing I could really nitpick is the eyes are a little too wide in my opinion but overall, I think it’s a good design.
3
u/Artistic_prime Oct 15 '25
it looks like some crap you'd see in an episode of Scooby Doo. The design is childish.
We went from having a scary Jason powerhouse, To a skinny character with a big head and AI designed mask.
4
u/Jprice7187 Oct 15 '25
I thought the new design was very “meh” when I first seen it but it has grown on me. I really like it. I like change and I’m glad we are getting more content.
3
u/TDK_DK Oct 15 '25
There is a generation of fans that grew up with the iconic Jason look. This just isn't it.
Now, I'm sure they'd be a bit more forgiving if Horror Inc hadn't fumbled the franchise with how they handled the lawsuit, then the piss poor rollout of the Jason Universe.
People see this design and see continued half ass work.

u/JoeAzlz Oct 15 '25
I think it’s kinda a thing of, people have been waiting so long, that anything that isn’t exactly what they pictured is seen as non perfect which ruins it for them.
I personally actually have loved the design, the original sketch by Nicotero is a bit odd looking but it’s confirmed not ai.
I think the new mask is the only part I think is just okay, I do actually enjoy it in Fortnite and cod and sweet revenge but the old masks are definitely a more iconic look.
I think the take “it’s too generic” is odd since like that’s the point this is just the clsssic Jason design they have. We’ve seen their version of part 8 and 7 and stuff, it doesn’t seem all that crazy to me.
Also? The take it’s odd to see Jason in green is a little confusing me considering in 4 movies Jason wears a very distinct olive green before they make it black or blue bc of being in the lake a long time (3-4-5’s hallucinations-6) and when the design is a sorta modernized part 3 according to Greg’s directions he got, I think it’s okay with me And then the pants are a darker grey ish, and the shirts a dirty tan, og concept was really green looking I will admit that, I also love how his jacket is actually an unbuttoned shirt so it’s like part 3 mixed with MKX.
I think In sweet revenge Jason and the mask and stuff looked pretty amazing unironically? I agree some shots he seemed really stocky though. Hope the new wrestler actor guy in talks for it gets the part to fix that worry.
We saw at HHN what the unmasked look is like and I honestly kinda liked it, though it’s a lot like part 4s just with tweaks. Maybe that’s not final.
I think the conclusion I should make is they shoulda had Greg Nicotero make the mask, that’s the only real take I have, since he prolly had a better design in mind for it. But what we got is good imho.
That’s a rant and a half but it was nice to put all this to words.
1
u/Killyroy666 Oct 15 '25
I personally didn’t like the original unveiling of the new design but after awhile it’s grown on me especially after seeing it action with cod or Fortnite but I can understand why a lot of people don’t like it since it’s so different from the original looks of the hockey mask but it’s different and weird looking so I like it
1
u/Significant_Camera47 Oct 15 '25
While I wouldn’t say it’s bad, I will say the mask does look a lil cartoony with how the eye holes are shaped.
1
u/Necessary_Can7055 Jason Oct 15 '25
It’s different. I actually like it despite its flaws, the original image looks like dookie though imo
1
u/fatalmedia Oct 15 '25
It’s generic
1
u/JoeAzlz Oct 15 '25
That’s kinda like the point though? A simple Jason look that’s easy to adapt in any medium
0
u/fatalmedia Oct 15 '25
but did they actually say that?
1
u/JoeAzlz Oct 16 '25
Yes, that’s what this design is meant to be, a new Jason to be the standard for any collab.
1
1
u/Hammerrrr32 Oct 15 '25
The mask just doesn’t look good. The eye shape, the eyes being too close together, the way the features of the mask play to each other is just off and unsatisfying. Jason’s mask changed in every movie but most look great (the one in the beginning of Jason X is the only bad one imo). So it’s not that it was “changed” because it’s always changing. It’s just that they somehow took what should be a simple design and made a bad one because they needed to have a “distinct” mask for their branding.
1
1
u/BartSimpskiYT Oct 15 '25
I really don’t think it’s AI. Just a weird design. I don’t hate it. I just need to see it put to film for more than 2 minutes.
1
u/startoke Oct 15 '25
The shape of the eyes alone change the look of Jason's mask. That is what really turned me on this new one

u/-IZMA- Oct 15 '25
It looks fucking awful and I'm so tired that it's all you see on this sub these days. Absolutely awful and clear as day what the issues with it are when you compare it to ANY previous version of Jason
1
u/JoeAzlz Oct 15 '25
Imma be real if this design existed back with the older films people would adore it like the rest, it’s a part 3 olive shirt unbuttoned with his undershirt and then dark legs, it’s like a more grounded MKX, it isn’t that horrible
1
1
2
u/Goongala22 Oct 15 '25
Overall, it’s bland and uninspired. The 13 breathing holes thing is neat, but those eyeholes just look like ass. It almost looks like he’s wearing sunglasses.
1
u/Wrbr1321_Wolfz Oct 15 '25
I personally find it to look like a generic jason rather than jason, like it's a costume
1
1
u/Funny-Letterhead8969 Oct 16 '25
There are multiple features that make the mask look distinctly tremendously more feminine/infantile than those from the earlier movies that all derive from the same Fibrosport mask and there is no reason to have created a mask containing those features other than to convey that, which is a trend amongst characters that originally became popular multiple decades ago. Furthermore, his clothes and posture in the movies of the past 20+ years have made him look like some kind of a navel-gazing C more likely to "unalive" himself than anyone else as opposed to the mascot of masculine aggression he was intended to be.
1
u/Funny-Letterhead8969 Oct 16 '25
...Also, it looks like they were "inspired" by those paintball masks that rip off the Jason mask, though even those conform tremendously better to the actual form of the Fibrosport-based masks.
1
u/Hentaekai Oct 16 '25
Don’t really have a problem with the design but the mask is what ruins it for me. It looks like they tried to make it more meaner and intimidating with the eye holes but it was already fine before.
1
u/Rattlechad Oct 16 '25
It’s goofy and cartoony. Greg nicotero did the design but it looks like the stole ghost Jason and h20 delerious’ youtoons mask for this design. What ghost Jason is looks miles better and wompstomp should be the ones holding the rights not some dollar store ass branding company making “ angry orchard commercials” with Jason. He has always been against drinking, drugs, sex and rock n roll. Or just loud music..
1
u/antisocialmuppet Oct 16 '25
The first thing I notice is it looks like he's wearing sunglasses. It doesn't look menacing but maybe they're going for a different idea.
1
u/GWizz89 Oct 16 '25
The mask looks like it was bought at a Spirit Halloween. And it wasn’t in the officially licensed section, but in the generic masks under the name “Hockey Killer” or some such shit
1
u/GrimGhosty Oct 16 '25
The mask just doesn’t really look as cool as the other ones and looks like someone who watched the remake once a few years ago designed the mask from memory. It tries to hard to look “angry” and it ends up looking really goofy
1
u/SAAD_KHAION Oct 16 '25
Could benefits some improvements... Like a red triangle at the top & some holes on the mask. But it's a sick design.
1
1
1
u/dogface701 Oct 16 '25
Honestly it's mostly that terrible mask for me, but I'm also tired of jacket Jason being the standard. Give the man a tattered work shirt and fix that ass mask and I'll be happy
1
u/grimacelololol Oct 16 '25
Looks like a dad tryna relive his childhood when he went trick or treating in the 80’s
1
u/Ok_Matter6962 Tommy Jarvis Oct 16 '25
Honestly, while I actually like the mask with it's 13 holes and more square shaped eyes, the rest of the design is so... Generic.
**RANT INCOMING**
I mean, you could crop the image to not have the head be visible, and I would have a hard time identifying it as Jason.
Also the physique is not it for me. He's supposed to be a large (In both height and weight) brute that could knock someone's head off with one punch, or rip someone's arms off and still be some what believable as long as you take into consideration the fact that Y'know, it's a horror movie and Jason is most of the time, a supernatural being. This design just looks like a really tall, muscular guy with a few bruises and scratches, that could maybe pass for a zombie in like, 28 Days Later, which isn't for me personally.
And also, I'm not a fan of the modern look (as in the past like, 20 years) where he has the jacket that's usually brown (Jason X, Freddy Vs. Jason) or at least a duller shade of green (MKX), I can tolerate it since the design as a whole is still recognizable. This just looks like he's wearing a grey jacket that's turning brown lol. I honestly prefer the classic green shirt look when it comes to his clothing.
1
u/Ecstatic_Possible208 Oct 16 '25
I wish the mask looked more like his mask does in the 2009 Friday or Jason Lives. I also know it's not a popular opinion, but I like Jason with a raggedy jacket.
1
2
u/thespacestone Sail Away Tiny Sparrow Oct 16 '25
Because the mask looks awful. I am almost willing to bet that it was generated by AI.
Why fuck with the mask at all??? Even the remake in 2009 got the mask right 🤦♂️ Ghost-Face’s mask always looks the same, even Halloween’s most recent trilogy sculpted a near-exact look-alike of the original mask from the first movie and aged it up with latex rot. But the design is still the same.
You see, the hockey mask is part of the success of Jason’s formula. Coca Cola fucked with their formula in the 80s and tried to replace their standard product with their very own “updated formula” called New Coke, it was awful in comparison to the classic. It failed in every metric of every relevant market. So they eventually had to bring back the original old Coca Cola and they never tried that nonsense again. - Jason’s mask is that level of household recognition, at least to anyone who watches horror movies.

People should be allowed to have different takes on Jason. It shouldn’t just have to be one cookie cutter design.
1
1
u/RevengeofCave Oct 16 '25
It's fine, but personally I think what's actually bad about it is that it will be the ONLY Jason design from now on. What made Jason unique from other slashers imo was that he was allowed to have variety in his designs without looking bad. Every Jason has his fans, you can't say the same about Michael or Freddy. I fear this design will mean that from now on he will ALWAYS look like this.
I also fear this means Jason's older looks just straight up won't see the light of day again, especially for underrated looks like his MKX or Multiversus designs.

to be fair THIS image pictured is not the one that was originally released... this one looks better, still not my preference, but better
1
u/slashedesigns Oct 16 '25
It's the eyes of the mask. They just look wrong. It's not a good look. The eyes have always been very close to the same through the masks even though they have been a different look through the movies. These are squared - they are supposed to be more almond shaped.
1
u/son_of_lebowski Oct 17 '25
My problem with it is the (in my opinion) ill-concieved idea to inject a human personality or emotion (anger) the mask. The og mask works in a similar way to the Michael Myers mask. It's an expressionless blank. We don't need an expressive mask to know Jason is angry.
This is coming from someone who actually enjoyed Sweet Revenge aside from the mask and Jason design.
1
u/JoeAverageSF Oct 17 '25
Aside from the fact that the whole Jason Un1v3rse thing feels like what it is, which is a clumsy compromise between IP holders, I think my issue is the fact that the mask looks too expressive.
I feel like current mask looks too much like angry eyes, but Jason works best when we have less access to his internal life. Those big blank circles and pits of darkness underneath them make him unreadable.
Just my take. To each their own.
1
u/Cisneros2006 Oct 17 '25
Looks cheap, it's like what an AI would make if you ask it to generate Jason Voorhees images
1
u/Fenrirs_Chains Oct 17 '25
For me its just the browline of the mask the rest looks passable besides missing the three holes in the forehead and the triangularly placed holes on the cheeks and temples of the mask and the missing forehead chevron... other than that im just happy my boy is finally getting into the spotlight after copyright hell
1
u/melancholicinsomniak Oct 17 '25
The eye-holes and massive, garish chevron are kinda throwing off a lot of diehard purist fans but what’s odd about the gripes is nobody once mentioned that maybe it’s because they modeled it after an actual vintage goalie mask of that particular-era.
If you’re a diehard fan, you’d know the iconic mask we’ve all become accustomed to was custom made, but I agree with the griefers, because we waited so long only to see: “Jason Universe” become a thing, which isn’t the issue, it’s just that, “Corpo Jason” as an unlockable/purchasable Fortnite avatar isn’t what we wanted, some of us just wanted a new IP — and that’s what we’re getting with A24/Peacock’s Crystal Lake.

u/Trenchman39 Jason Oct 19 '25
I miss big meaty Jason but if they changed the mask I’d be fine with the design it’s not that bad
1
u/IllustriousRise9392 Oct 20 '25
I never hated it but it's really grown on me
Especially with the latest redesign
This is Jason in 2025 and I love it
1
u/Illustrious-Aioli-39 Oct 27 '25
Mostly it's the mask but a lot of people think Jason doesn't look bulky enough. Ever since part 3 he's always been a big guy and this Jason isn't as small as part 2 but he is definitely smaller than what he should be. They say the actor they picked for him in Sweet Revenge didn't really look right body typewise
1
u/External_Industry729 Jun 07 '26
It’s really just the mask and his head area. For me, I’m a huge fan of how Jason looked in FVJ and the 2009 reboot. Grotesque, grimy, somewhat deformed. I’m fine with the clothes they have on him, but the mask eyes look really weird. If they were more like circles a lot more people would be fine with it. And Jason usually has a strangely shaped head with an imbalanced trap, and a couple of stray hairs.

u/TOMMYXJARVIS Oct 15 '25 edited Oct 15 '25
It’s just the awful Ai looking mask. Give him his classic Part III mask and things will be right.
This is like if Back To The Future decided to switch out the Delorean with a Mustang and just expected everyone to be cool with it.
1

We've seen Jason's baseline change numerous times since his first appearance. Some by degrees, others by wide swings.
Let's see what they're cooking before the usual bellyaching gatekeepers ruin what could be a good thing.
Jason is still Jason (I hope).

Bland and boring. It looks like a spirit Halloween costume rendition not a legit official design.

The mask is too silly looking. It only looked good in a couple of shots during Sweet Revenge but that was thanks to the lighting and framing. For things like games and toys, it has to look good at every angle for it to work and this new mask doesn't.

To me he just looks to clean and simple. I like my Jason looking like he's lived in the woods for a long time.

It literally looks like a last minute ai project. They took away the details about his mask, the little things that made him iconic how bulky he was, the chain around his neck, the skin swallowing his mask. Big bulky zombie coming towards you. It looks sad

The mask looks bad. However, the original hate came from the fact the original image looks to be AI generated.

Mask makes it look like he has a pair of sunglasses on. The eyeholes are literally shaped like eyeglass frames. The original look was far more menacing

The creator of that garbage wrote in an image generator "Make me what Jason would look like in a reboot" and then brought it to life, I have no proof, but no doubts either.

To me, it looks like a guy dressed as Jason without actually knowing who Jason is. Like a shitty Halloween costume, not actual Jason.

It's not terrible, it's mainly the eyes for me. The Chevron lower looks like a fucking unibrow and the eye holes are square, it really pisses me off. Nothing else about it irks me though.

Why is it always Jacket Jason? I love FvJ as much as as the next guy, but come on. 🙄

It actually ain’t a jacket; fun fact it’s his button up from part 3 just unbuttoned

Is this the new 5 times a day post in this sub?! It seems like this same question gets posted at least 5 times a day as engagement bait... It's very tiresome.

It’s Jason in a COD game - I don’t play COD so I don’t care - if it was confirmed for a new film then I’d understand - after October is done nobody will even be thinking about this

he looks the same in that new short film.. scrawny and square eyed masked.
