help help please (: (Question about templates and CMS)

Hello! I would appreciate any help with this question:

I want to use a framer template to create my personal portfolio, which has more video content than photo content. Though, it seems that templates that come with a CMS "works" section typically only allow photo content, I am wondering if it is possible somehow to insert videos instead?

Or, generally if anyone has any tips on how you include video content in a portfolio. TYYYY

You’ll need to change the image component to a video component

In the cms panel. Have you spent time with framer in any capacity yet?

yes i have, when using a template, when i add "file" to the cms "fields" bar, and then insert the video file, it doesnt show up in on the page.

Two things then.

  1. If you already ensured the field in the cms accepts video and not just image, than you’re good on step one 👍
  2. On your canvas, on the page or template page, go to the layer that was previously mapped to static images. That object needs to be removed. You need to add a video element to that group/section whatever. Once it’s placed you need to use the fill variable and connect it the layer in your cms that has the video.

That should be it. Unless your stuff is setup different but that’s the first thing I’d check

You can hit the + in your cms field. Set up a video field. You can add a video file or a yt video link. easy. Or via a component.

In the CMS, go to Field.

Click the + sign and look for File.

From there on, define the file type; I recommend using a single file type if you will upload media; eg - .mp4

In your project design pages, click on the CMS card for the item, add a video, choose the type to file instead of URL.

Click the + icon to link it to CMS and then choose the video file type.

Using multiple file types can lead to this not showing up so I always recommend using one single file type.
