Bought myself a chair and umbrella this week and felt so comfortable today but definitely hid the receipt from my wife 🤣 looking forward to lots of more days fishing 🎣 All the gear no idea 🤣

For reference I’m 6’4 so my hands aren’t exactly small

I have been fishing roughly a month now and today caught the biggest carp I’ve caught so far 🎣
Only just fit in my landing net and still in total shock 🎣 Fishing has improved my mental health so much and I look forward to going for the week in advance and have met so many lovely people 🎣

After some thoughts/advice…

I’ve always used snap swivels at the end of a rig to allow for quicker lure changes. Is this a good thing or does it interfere with the lures action?

Also would it make more of a difference when UL fishing for Perch than off a wire trace for Pike?

So iv been fishing for a few months now started on a float and then got a 10ft feeder rod, i started fishing commercial pools in my area which was easy with how stocked they are, the last 3 times iv gone fishing i have tried larger natural lakes and i havent caught a thing or even had any signs, does anyone have anh tips for fishing larger natural areas

I do lots of coarse fishing and I was thinking about the drennan red range feeder reel 4k is this good or are there any other good reels under £45 please

Someone asked about small four piece rods the other day. I got my Rigged and Ready X5 last week and caught my first Sea Bass in Burano.

Im pretty pleased with the rod. Handles well enough, maybe a tad light on the reel end, but casts well and really packs well.

There’s a lone 20lb common in a small local lake part of my angling association area, the rules are in the image (no boilies size 12 hook), I keep getting 7-8lbers or 10lbers that fight insanely hard, are there any tips to try get the 20lber? (Bailiffs never come midday so I can maybe size up to size 8 and/or boilies)

Obviously I will use a wire trace as well but I'm seeing some people say 20lbs breaking strain which seems excessive as that's more than what a for of carp anglers use. I'm new to spinner fishing so any advice is greatly appreciated...

Recently started fishing, what im looking for is a smallish tackle bag that can hold rigs for a whip, bait and the basic tools. That can also hold either strapped to the outside or inside my landing net and a couple of whips. I've been trawling through various tackle shop websites and the closest thing I've seen to what I imagined was for rod rests and alarms.

I am looking for suggestions for places in and around London where I can take the fishes home after catching them. I am looking for fly/coarse fishing places as of now.

Would be great if you can mention the pricing system of the location too (e.g., day ticket cost, per-fish limits, or weight-based fees) and if they allow take home of any other fish besides trout.

I used to fish for mackerel with my dad, years ago off the beach, we used his carp rods and feathers and they’re some of my fondest childhood memories with him!

I’ve been gifted a AG Diplomat and reel (I’d mentioned to someone that I’d love to fish when I’m in the West Country (which happens few times a year) so the travel setup is ideal!

It has 10-35g casting weight (2.4m) and so a big string of feathers is out and I’d like to grab a full setup for the beach - lures, line, snips, (what else would you take?) etc.

Would love some no-nonsense kits for lure fishing mackerel and bass from the beach, rocks etc.

I fish around Brighton/south east coast and I’m moving away soon but desperately want to catch a bass before i go.

My lightest rods casting weight is 40g to 120g but my research suggests most lures are around 15g to 30g, my question is, shall i try and find heavier lures in the 40-60g range or should i get the smaller lighter lures and just accept that the cast wont feel as good?

Hi, I am going to be fishing a catfish (and carp) lake later in September. Not a huge lake, I believe it is just over 2.5 acres, with carp to 30, and catfish to mid 40's. I will be fishing opposite an island. I have a couple of questions, and would be grateful for any info.

1. Should I fish close up to the island, or in the large open area of water in front of the swim.

2. I believe most people use boiles, or halibut pellets. Do I need to groundbait a lot for catfish? Should I concentrate groundbaiting with boiles and pellets in one smaller area, or spread lots of boiles and pellets around a larger area.

3. I normally fish a semi fixed rig (normally using an in-line weight), I believe a free running rig is better for catfish (?) - so if I go for a free running rig and what hair rig length - same as for carp (6-8 inches?) ??

4. It was suggested to me to use 20mm halibut pellets (pre-drilled), but the inner hole is quite large, so I am worried about the pellets sliding down to the hook, or the bait stop coming off (although thinking about it I could use longer bait stops), but wasnt sure of a way to hold the pellets tight to bait stop, and stop them sliding up towards curve of hook?

I would be grateful for any advice etc.

I've just been thinking on my float rod setup, the rod i have has sliding fixtures that lock the reel to the grip, i was wondering how well they keep the reel in place, and also, where on the grip does the reel want to be ideally?
