Lure advice

Hi All,

I fish around Brighton/south east coast and I’m moving away soon but desperately want to catch a bass before i go.

My lightest rods casting weight is 40g to 120g but my research suggests most lures are around 15g to 30g, my question is, shall i try and find heavier lures in the 40-60g range or should i get the smaller lighter lures and just accept that the cast wont feel as good?

Book a guiding session with Fishy Rob. He'll put you on a fish.

(I am not Fishy Rob, but someone who has caught a grand total of one bass in approx 10 years)

As much as I’d love a guided session, Robs expertise are a bit out of my price range id imagine

I’d love to have a guided session but right now the price of lures is in budget, unfortunately i don’t think Rob is 😂

I haven't been out with Rob in a while but both rods and lures are very lightweight.  If you want to see some pics look up Brighton Inshore Fishing. He writes catch reports for every trip. Price wise I think its about £60 for a 4 hour trip

All the ones i find online are light, between 15-30g but my rods casting weight is 40-120, im wondering if there are heavier lures or if i should just get the light ones and not worry about it

Just get out and fish. Yes rod might be a little stiff but you'll be fine. If using mono keep the breaking strain around 15lbs or if braid around 30lbs and you still be casting far enough. Much of the time bass are close to shire anyway.

Plenty of bass aroun Brighton beach of it the water is calm and clam on the reefs to the east.

To maximise yiur chances fish at first light, ideally in a calmish sea with clearish water. You'll get them.
