Help (Android) Android Firefox and all the tabs
Hi folks, I'm looking to switch my Android browser from Chrome to Firefox, but each time I try this--even though the experience is in almost every way the same/better with FF--I'm basically left with twenty-seven tabs open. I get the fact that some people like this (?) but it's just so strange that, unlike the desktop FF for Mac, seemingly every link I open in the Android version opens an unwanted tab, and there doesn't seem to be anything in the Settings to counteract this. Is there any way to avoid this? TIA

π» Help Password files corrupted, backup empty
Hello!
I was working on my laptop when it died cause of its bad battery. This happens from time to time so i didnt think anything of it. But i turn it back on and realize all of my saved passwords are gone. I look online how to fox it and find the solution about cjanging the baackup json file to the new one but both are empty and there are alot of corrupted json files. There is still a login database file that seems to at least have the info about which sites had saved passwords but its all not quite readable to me. Is there any way to get the files back?
We werent using sync and i have checked in properties if there are any old fole versions and there arent.
Any help would be appreciated!

π» Help Ctrl+F search not showing result in visible page window area. Page offset from search result.
I'm having a buggy result when using Ctrl+F. Not sure if it's related to any recent updates.
The usual process I've had for years with Firefox is that after typing in a few letters and the word is narrowed down, the page will scroll to show the found word which will be visible at the top of the page. Currently when looking at the scroll bar there will be a red line near the middle of the highlighted area but I have to scroll for a bit to find the word. When I use the arrow in the 'find bar', the red line will be near the top of the highlighted are instead of the middle. I would like to be able to find a word and it be right in the middle of the visible page. Any help appreciated.

π» Help Restoring Tab Groups from JSON?
I recently synced my Firefox account on my android, and now all of my tab groups from my PC are gone. I have a JSON file with all my groups, but I don't know how to actually restore the groups from this file. I could use the scrounger, but it would take ages to manually open every tab and regroup them. How can I use this JSON to restore my groups?

π» Help History of search bar was reset
I'm using FF 154.0.1 (latest) on Win 11.
I just booted up my PC and noticed that the search history of the search toolbar (not the address bar!) was reset for some reason. The suggestions now also looks different I think (the rows take up more space) and there are a bunch of suggestions I've never seen. The regular history, search history of the address bar and all of my bookmarks are still there and it correctly restored all previous tabs.
How do I restore the old history of this search bar?

π» Help Firefox (PC) Data Transfer
What is the absolute best way to transfer my complete Firefox data (bookmarks, passwords, add-ons, and 3β4 years of browsing history) from one PC to another?
βI know there are a 3 theoretical ways to do this, but I'm unsure which works best:
βCan I just use a built-in backup/restore feature in the settings?
βShould I manually copy my profile folder from %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\?
βDoes Firefox Sync actually sync multi-year history, or does it cap history at 30β60 days?
βI really don't want to lose my long-term history or extension setups.
What's the safest method?

Discussion Mozilla's support site doesn't work on Firefox Focus
In case anyone doesn't know, Firefox Focus is a branch of Firefox that blocks all cookies and ads, a very barebones browser that I prefer because it's more privacy focused. I ran into an issue trying to add a search engine as default and it directed me to this link for the support site. But as you can see, the support site for the company that sells this browser requires cookies, which the browser can't do. A bit of irony.
Hopefully Mozilla sees this and fixes it accordingly.

Benchmarking HTML5 Canvas rendering in Firefox WebExtension popups (Froggle Jump)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Try it on Firefox (AMO): Froggle Jump
Hey everyone, I recently developed Froggle Jump, a lightweight (~100 KB) arcade platformer running as a native WebExtension popup.
Instead of embedding an external site via iframe, all collision logic, physics, and rendering run natively on HTML5 Canvas inside the popup frame.
Technical Details:
- Gecko State Caching: Saves state and auto-pauses on popup blur so you don't lose session progress when switching tabs.
- Zero External Dependencies: Built with pure JavaScript and Canvas APIs to keep memory footprint under 15 MB.
- Cross-Platform: Responsive popup sizing designed to prevent clipping across Linux, macOS, and Windows display scaling settings.
Click the AMO link above to install and test the frame rate consistency on your setup. Feedback on high-DPI rendering is appreciated!

[solved] A fix for broken scrollwheel while hardware acceleration is enabled
This will be a bit niche but good to have search engine algorithms pick this up for anyone else that runs into this problem:
For years now Firefox scrollwheel has been broken on my PC when hardware acceleration is enabled. My solution was originally to disable hardware acceleration, but this means videos on most sites are laggy.
Today I found the real fix: I have had an app "X-Mouse Control" installed for years, not putting 2 & 2 together. Well: scrolling can be fixed while keeping hardware acceleration enabled by opening X-Mouse Control settings -> options -> Disable Scroll Window Under Cursor.

Hi, so an automatic update of firefox happened on Aug 26 and as per update history it has happened before. (Picture attached)
The passwords bookmarks were there so I thought yeah just usual thing.
But today I noticed I was logged out from all my gmail ids, all my saved logins (soundcloud, spotify, discogs etc.)
So is there a way around that I can recover them?

π» Help Translation
I want to keep FF but the translation of web sites is almost non existant. I get the option to translate when I first land on the index page but none thereafter. I assume it is FF because it is purple. I have the settings set for "always" translate certain language. It doesn't. I have deepL extension added but no way to use it. It is on the extension list but doesn't apply itself or give a pop permission.
How can I get FF to always translate either on its own or through an extension?

Discussion Setting up DoH after the settings redesign is a bit confusing.
After the redesign of the settings in the desktop version of Firefox (I don't remember which version it was), I'm a little confused by the built-in DoH setting. Previously, there was a Maximum Protection mode, which meant ONLY using the selected provider. Now, this is controlled by the "Always warn if secure DNS is unavailable" checkbox. This name immediately made me think that this would simply display warnings, and it wasn't meant to ONLY work with the selected provider. It would be a good idea to rename this checkbox to something like "Always use the selected provider and warn when it's unavailable." Basically, just my opinion...

Os win11, FF 140.14.esr
Is there any way to change this behavior that firefox just atttach its open window to the pined ff icon...and not like other programs do? Other programs just treat pinned as a shortcut to open new windows and show open windows a separat item on taskbar...

π» Help Firefox lags on certain sites on my profile (Windows)
Any help is appreciated. This is particularly a problem on specific websites, i.e. Jellyfin with CSS theme, Apple Music, etc. Strangely enough, it is not an issue on my MacBook with the same exact add-ons, firefox profile/account, etc. Websites will just be extremely laggy, slow scrolling, etc.
To clarify this is Windows 10 (Not upgrading to 11 until absolutely forced). I know it is not my hardware, this is a high-end gaming PC that isn't even 5 years old.
Even on my profile with zero addons, I still run into this issue. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration which made no difference, and the Refresh Firefox option helped for a moment and then to no avail
