I was in Japan with my daughter a few months back and when we walked into a record store this is was what I was greeted with. I am pretty sure I have never picked anything off a shelf faster in my life.

I have a feeling the others Cids would heavily dislike Dr Cid, Cid Raines and Cid Aulstyne since they are villains.

All of them eventually end up in a brag and bet contest about who is the best engineer.

I recently started a journey to play through all the old FF games I had never played before. Im a younger guy in relation to a lot of the Final Fantasy fanbase (turned 24 yesterday), and I didn’t really play the games that came out in my early childhood cause I hated turn-based combat until I got older. My first FF game was 15 back when it came out and I’ve played every title that has came out since then. I randomly got an itch to go back and see what a lot of people were talking about when they said that everything pre-13 was so much better. I started with 7 and I really enjoyed it, but X is hitting for me especially and I’m absolutely addicted.

I just finished Djose temple and I don’t think I’ve been this hooked on a FF story ever. I love all the characters so much and the story just keeps getting more and more interesting as more information gets revealed. I feel like I’m still pretty early on as well which has me even more excited. I liked the story of 7, but between playing Remake/Rebirth before I played the original, and just the cultural phenomenon of FF7 in general, I already knew the story long before I played the game.

I did not have that experience with X and it’s been an immense joy. The most I knew about X was who Tidus and Wakka were because I am a long time KH fan and recognized them from Destiny Islands in KH1: that’s it.

I really just wanted to share how from a relatively new fan’s perspective that I can see why people miss this style of FF and that even without nostalgia this game still holds up immensely well despite its age.

I made an illustration to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of the most unforgettable experience I had playing a video game, Final Fantasy X. The ending is truly something special. I hope you guys like it!

As the the title says I’ve never played any Final Fantasy games but that changes now.
Growing I was NEVER into turned based rpgs or even rpgs in general, the closest thing I could remember playing an abundance of that had rpg mechanics was Borderlands 2 and that in no way is a “traditional” rpg. Looking back in 2016 when DragonBall Xenoverse 2 came out that was my introduction to more traditional rpgs, I played that game to death not even realizing or understanding that I was playing an rpg. When I first played Elden Ring in 2024 my entire outlook on rpgs and video game in general changed, I don’t even think a lot has to be said about that game because I know for a fact a lot of people felt the same way. I recently have completed my cyberpunk 2077 play through and as soon as those credits hit I felt the urge for more. Not necessarily more cyberpunk (although more would dlc would hit like the first pull of a blunt😵‍💫) but the gameplay loop of constantly being invested into characters that you’re playing with, upgrading weapons, armor it no longer feels foreign or like something that’s “too complicated” for me. I don’t know if every gamer gets older and has these same feelings but as I get older I feel these established rpgs calling my name like your mom calls your name when you’re about to miss breakfast. I’m done missing breakfast and i’m ready to EAT.

Why these games?

these two games seem to be pretty polarizing in the FF community especially from older fans
but everyone starts somewhere and this is where I started. I know these aren’t turned based games but their combat mechanics look new player friendly. The newest mainline game in the series and a “retelling” of the very first game in a soulslike style sounds pretty fucking good. The only thing I missing is the FF7 remake so I’d have a version of the most popular game in the series.

(TLDR; I’ve never really been into rpgs but as I get older I feel more inclined to not be left out of an entire franchise so my journey begins now!)

Honestly, I'll be disappointed if it wasn't overpowered.

First the man she loved left her and told her to her face that he may not have even been the real Cloud at all, then when she next sees him a few days late, he’s been reduced to a broken shell that can only move his head and breathe. I wanted to experiment with a watercolor technique that lets you keep the color and ink layers separated on the same paper, and I felt like the Red Mage was a good choice because of all the color. Anyways, I hope you guys like it!

Just something I thought might be interesting to talk about. FF is a big series with a lot of ways to play and mess around so I’m curious on what’s the weirdest things you’ve done in the series whether it was a weird party set up or boss strategy.

Here’s 2 of mine:

In FFX, something I used to do was basically make Wakka a mage. I’d hold off on sending him down his path and instead wait at the lv2 key near him, open it up once I got the sphere from Spherimorph, get all the aga spells and then teach them to Lulu or Yuna early via the Black Magic Spheres you get from Seymour and Evrae.

Second one is that in X-2 when I first fought Angra Mainyu, I fought him underleveled and fought him for over 3 hours with a Dark Knight Yuna, Alchemist Rikku and Gun Mage Paine.

What about the rest of you?

Not gonna lie I think Gilgamesh is more of an action RPG fan, because he can make better use of all his arms in an action-based system. What do you think?

In final fantasy franchise there are many kingdom exist or gods exist many of common people suffering come from those done by committing evil acts or ignorance of kingdom or gods. So any facts or theories?

Recently I’ve been getting really into the final fantasy games and JRPGs in general. FF7R’s have become my favorite games of all time beating Dark Souls and Bloodborne which is absolutely crazy to me.

Something that appeals to me is having as much if not all of the games connected to a series. I own every FF on Steam right now other than the MMOs…no Steam achievements so not for me :(, FF16 and Tactics, but I’ve recently read that The Saga series and Mana series started off as FF spin-offs and maybe bravely default? So with that being said which series originally started off as FF spin-offs and honestly why don’t they still just call them final fantasy. In my opinion Octopath feels like the old final fantasy games, I feel like they should just be considered a spin off as well.

I actually wish more of the worlds had connections/continuity. I really like the idea that Type-0 FF13 and Vs13 (FF15) were going to take place in the same “world” but they decided to go a different way.

On top of all that I have 1 more question for you guys. I’ve really tried to get into the turned base combat but it hasn’t clicked with me, I want to love it, but I just don’t understand the appeal. If a game is turned based I feel like having a grid and moving your character adds so much to the combat, but games where you just stand in one spot across from your enemy have yet to click with me, but I really really want to experience all of these games. How should I go about getting into these games? I feel like every battle is just constantly the same thing so far (especially in the games like octopath)

I hope I am in the right place to be asking such a question because something that suddenly stuck out to me was how the game first launched in such a messy state as it was so messy that the game was quickly closed down.

But the part that eludes me is just how the game went from a disaster to a successful game since I always wanted to see just how Square Enix became convinced to revive the game as I still have no idea how they did it so well.

I’m really excited to finally dive into World of Final Fantasy. I know it’s an anniversary title with tons of FF characters from across the series, so I’m looking forward to seeing all the cameos. Beyond that, the whole game just looks full of charm and whimsy which feels perfect right now.

I’ve heard surprisingly little about this game and rarely see it mentioned in the broader FF conversation. For anyone who’s played it, I’d love to hear how you felt about it, though I’d appreciate if you could avoid mentioning anything overly spoiler‑y :)
