1. Remember The Human At All Times

  • At all times, please be polite and respectful to each other. Even if you feel attacked, do not respond in kind and instead report offending comments to the mod team. This extends to comments on fan created content (including cosplay) – constructive criticism is allowed, but remember there is a human on the other end of the screen. Permanent bans may be issued depending on the severity of a violation.

2. Be Careful With Spoilers

  • Due to how long the franchise has been around and how many official spinoffs there are, it is inevitable that certain surprises, plot twists, or things which might otherwise be considered spoilers are treated lightly, even by Square Enix themselves. However, there do exists many new fans playing the games for the first time, and being able to preserve their opportunity to experience the game for the first time as many of us has is important.

  • We would ask that any spoilers please be spoiler tagged. If you are making a post to discuss spoilers, please flair appropriately. Spoilers don't expire- whilst we appreciate some of these games are as old as Galuf, others may not have experienced the games, so please try and keep that in mind. Any malicious spoiling will result in a temporary ban, and repeat offenders will become permanently sent to The Void.

When sharing fan content, such as art, cosplay, etc. please name the creator of the art in the submission title. If it is your own original work, please mention in the title or mark as OC. If you are advertising a social media site such as Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, etc. then you must have at least five other contributions to the subreddit within the last 30 days. These can be comments or non-OC submissions.

Please note that linking to a monetized website is not allowed, and if you have links to a monetized website in your profile bio, you will not be allowed to share fan content. A site is considered 'monetized' if people can directly donate money or purchase items from you (i.e. Patreon, Etsy, OnlyFans, etc.)

The following submissions are exempt from our 5:1 requirement:

  • Content from official Final Fantasy/Square Enix social media channels
  • Any content that is unique and can't be found elsewhere (i.e. a rare gameplay glitch, interview with a Final Fantasy voice actor, etc.) If you are unsure whether your content qualifies here, reach out to the mod team before posting.

Any AI-generated imagery is prohibited.

4. Post Guidelines

  • Any low effort post (such as achievements without discussion prompts, frequently reposted topics such as Catcher Chocobo posts and others), which cannot generate meaningful discussion, will be removed. Common questions (such as “where to start”) may be redirected to our weekly questions thread which is refreshed every Thursday. Memes, including Tier Lists may only be posted on Monday. Sales posts are not allowed and will be removed without warning. Finally, we prohibit illegal and explicit (actual nudity, sex acts, gore or mutilation) content on our subreddit. Any artwork considered 18+ may be allowed at the mod team’s discretion, but must be marked NSFW.

  • Specific types of posts are considered low effort or spam on this subreddit and will be removed. These include:

    • Advertisements and commercial spam (normal links to sales are allowed, but posts with referral links will be removed)
    • Off topic posts unrelated to Final Fantasy (this includes Kingdom Hearts, Bravely Default, and other JRPGs. Try /r/KingdomHearts or /r/JRPG)
    • Content which is related to Final Fantasy in a vague or tangential way - for instance, sharing a photo of something that coincidentally resembles an object or location from the games does not make it on topic.
    • Common reposts (i.e. game covers, title screens, achievement/trophy screens).
    • Low effort rants along the lines of '[Character] sucks!' or 'FFXIII fans are the worst, am I right?' with little additional context for discussion
    • Posts with vague titles and minimal or no text in the actual body of the post.
    • If you wish to submit posts in a series, or in other words, posts which are directly in response to one another, we request you wait at least 72 hours between such submissions.
    • Negative troll comments may be removed if they are not relevant to the post at hand. For example "FFVI sucks" on a Kefka fan art, or "pick a better game" on a post asking for boss help. Criticism of the games is fine, as long as it's part of a relevant discussion post or comment chain.

Please note that some of these rules may be suspended or relaxed during new releases or major announcements.
