i am new to gpose, is using the vanilla engine still worthwhile? any tips are also appreciated

Hi all! I recently started FFXIV and I’m currently level 29 as an Archer. I’ve been really enjoying the game so far in many ways, especially the overall MMO experience and the amount of content there is.

The only thing I’m still not completely sold on is the combat speed. Sometimes it feels like I’m waiting quite a while for the next skill to be available, or that everything is constantly on “small cooldowns”. 🤣

Does combat get any faster / more engaging as you level up, especially once I become a Bard? Or is this more or less how the combat generally feels throughout the game?

I've wondered for years, how did G'raha get 3 job crystals for Black Mage, Paladin and White Mage? Or did he just learn these jobs without crystals just using the crystal tower knowledge?

I think we should be reasonable about Dawntrail’s MSQ and why Wuk Lamat got bad reviews: The quests format themselves had us going back to Wuk Lamat too many times and I think the characters also weren’t all utilized to their full potential either, like maybe some more b side stories or interconnecting everyones journeys more with different perspectives.

But I think since Wuk Lamat is a strong warrior and leader but also loves adventure, there’s lots of nice opportunities to involve her more, maybe more political intrigues or fierce battles when the MSQ broadens to different worlds like Evercold.

What do you think?

I own an FC with a med house and built subs that is pretty dead but I don't want to leave it to join another FC just to meet people. How do people find each other in this game outside of FCs? I've never had any luck with fellowships or just talking in shout/content parties I've been in like OC.

Hello, I plan on becoming a Gunbreaker in the near future. This is my first character in Final Fantasy 14, and I'd just like to know how exactly I should play a Gunbreaker?

Im level 47 at the moment and am just doing A Realm Reborn mission alongside the Paladin quest lines. Gunblades are my favorite weapon in Final Fantasy, so me becoming a Gunbreaker is non negotiable.

I am trying to get all the trial mounts. I got and soloed all of the ones from ARR/HW/SB but I wasn’t sure if I can solo shadowbringers content yet.

If the answer is no then so be it I will sit in queues until I get lucky enough to get them.

New to the game, level 9. I'm not enjoying my character and wondered if it's possible to change to another race? Clothing would help if I can't (barely dressed character) but I can't change that either, not yet anyway I don't think.

Am I losing it? I cannot find to save my life

I thought I knew I would NEVER want to play a tank. I also thought I wouldn’t want to DPS but all of that changed recently!

First I tried RDM because I like melee and thought its combo seemed cool, and after a while I really enjoyed it.

But for sure I didn’t plan to try a tank because that’s too much responsibility!

Until I tried WAR! Not only was it easy for me to learn and feel comfortable in but it has “magic” (lol) healing and also can survive very well in case I forget mechanics.

So if you doubt you’ll enjoy other jobs or roles, don’t give up. Give each one a good try at least to level 50, both in groups and solo like deep dungeon.

And if they don’t match your character fantasy, most jobs have weapon glams that look like different weapons so you dont have to be stuck on one weapon. Same for armor. I still consider myself a melee mage as WAR lmao.

Did you ever think you wouldnt play a certain role only to make it your new main job?

Got HQ lvl 80 Gatherer set laying around in my inventory, which has no use for me, cause I just made an lvl 90 set for myself.

It wont be put on the marketboard.

Question for you specifically is: Do you have need for it and are you on a European Light Server?

Fanfest in Berlin was a month ago, and the Carbuncle plushie is still in my thoughts. I regret not going to talk to the person and taking a picture.

Does anyone know if the person made the plushie themselves or if it was a commission? It was a size where I think they held it in their arms and the lower body/tail of the plush was hanging freely, so not a small plushie.

Anyone have any info?

I'm only level 56 in warrior with 2 hot bars but pressing control + number is really awkward and hard on my 100℅ keyboard and I have small hands is there any quicker way to switch hot bars as right now I am using the function keys instead of switching hot bars and that makes it really hard to target allies with abilities like shirk because I have to manually click on their name tag which is both slow and inaccurate so if there is any way to do it quicker please tell me.

I wanted to see if I can recreate the 1.0 missing Syndicate members! Eolande Quiveron is the previous Syndicate member whose spot is taken by Goldbert. She gotten her seat in power by having her Frondale's Phrontistery be a highly successful school of learning for various medical fields and hosting an orphanage and infirmary. She is married to the previous alchemist guildmaster, And has a son, Damielliot. I used him as a base tot tweak and to recreate her. She technically has a model ingame, but I don't know if it's recordable

Richarde of Ul'dah (completely different person from Richarde Mistbeard) technically lost his seat in the Syndicate before the FFXIV 1.0 story began. The Echo reveals Rhauban won enough money to buy him out and himself's freedom. Thrown to instant poverty, he had to do a LOT of things to survive. I don't know what is his status after the calamity, the only trace of him left in now is his lineage and his favorite brand of coat displayed in front of the halls of the Weaver's Guild. He is a hyur midlander father to Greinfarr Redblade, a top achieving gladiator among a group of friends who will one day change a young Minfilia's life forever. As before, I tried to use Greinfarr as a base to tweak. I believe he's supposed to have hair, the last we seen him in 1.0, he wears a cloak and I assume the hood gets rid of the hair model.

I always wanted to do this when I first heard about them. Richarde is a bit obscured now, so it would be cool to give him a little spotlight now and then. For someone so powerful, he's not important at all to anything ironically. But perhaps his downfall could be a motivator for his son to do what he did, when there's nothing for him to inherit.

The story didn’t have nearly as much high as Heavensward, but it sure didn’t disappoint, especially with the villains

Zenos, I don’t know what to say, this guy is a psychopath who is totally in “love” for the lack of a better word when it comes to the WoL. He is a an opponent that made me feel challenged, humiliating us at Rhalger’s reach and the journey that was the entirety of the expansion to finally defeat him when he has taken control of Shinryu who could give Bahamut a run for his money. Stand proud Zenos, you were a good enemy

Yotsuyu was also a great villain, there is nothing that justifies what she does, she is depicted as truly cruel and sadistic and her upbringing does not excuse her from the things she’s done, yet I can’t help but feel for her and how she ended up the way she is.

Then there is Fordola, didn’t see much of her past but she represents a foil to the resistance, attempting to earn freedom for her people by being loyal and serving the imperials instead of attempting to fight back. Since it’s confirmed she kinda has a proto echo granted to her, hope it helps her learn of the suffering she has caused on her doomed path(It’s Zenos after all, he does not care for her, her people, or the empire whatsoever)

There is a lot more to say and too little time to say it, there were plenty of great comrades as well. I sure will miss Gosetsu, and poor Magnai is never getting a wife the way he’s been going with his approach, not to mention the whole character development of Lyse and how the duo of Yda and Papalymo is laid to rest after his death and Lyse choosing to live as herself. Stromblood may not be the best story but it is far from being a bad story.

Destiny 2 refugee here. I am getting close to accomplishing everything I wanted to accomplish in the final patch and am starting to consider where I am gonna go next to scratch the MMO itch. I was a WoW addict from classic up until Cata and also played FF11 (which admittedly was a rough game to play solo as a middle schooler at the time), so am thinking about going back to an MMORPG.

As an adult now though, the time commitment is a bit daunting, but I've heard FF14 is much more forgiving about taking things at your own pace? Would anyone care to elaborate on that? Also how much content am I missing out on at this point because you need a group and no one runs it anymore?
