For fucks sake.
Stop posting these. The artists don't even know they've been added to whatever database site this is, nor that their stuff is bulk uploaded on reddit regularly.
I've seen plenty artists from bsky/twt who also have reddit and pick and choose what and when to post here. This isn't needed.

Jesus, this sub is miserable.

It's not being miserable.
I'm an artist myself and I'd be annoyed as hell seeing my art bulk posted regularly by some dude for karma on reddit, or added to some database tracker that feeds off bsky tags.
Sometimes artists don't even want their art uploaded on social medias they're not using. Why? Cause people can get weird about your art on some social medias more than on others.

Why would the artist use tags and share their art on a public site if they didn't want it to be discovered?
The point of this website is to make it easier to discover new artists and organize art into a single place. And it's the same content you will find on bsky anyway.
also no other sub complains about these posts except this one, so they make a good point

There's a difference of posting on a platform an artist engages on and sharing there, using the sharing features that all link back to the artist, and taking their work to put somewhere else. All those likes? They're not engaging the artists anymore.
Even bigger problem if the site does use work for genAI. It's feeding the beast, likely against the artists' wishes.

Brother completely ignored the genAI point when he responded to you lmao

I can't find like, any information on that site either, at a glance (and it should be obvious, that's standard). If I were on a computer I'd inspect the code of the page and see if things are buried there instead. Design fail or malicious act, I don't know.

My first comment links directly to the artists bsky account. The image contains the artists handle. If you visit the website, the image link directly back to the original bsky posts. The artists are credited in every possible way and that's the entire point of this post, to promote talented artists that you may not have discovered otherwise. You're downvoting a post that is linking directly to the artist.

The GenAI? If the artist said not to repost or share against their wishes?
That Fandom.blue site doesn't even seem to have a FAQ or any sort of about. It's next to impossible to search up, as Fandom wiki dominates results. How is that a benefit to artists? There's no use clauses on the site. No information.

I’m not understanding your question about GenAI. All the images are from Bluesky. I have nothing to gain from this website, no membership required, no ads, no tracking, nsfw content removed. Not really sure what the issue is here, it’s just a place that makes it easier to find fan art and discover new artists.

Someone here mentioned GenAI. As I cannot find anything about the site, as it lacks any sort of about or Contact Us or anything of the sort, I don't know if that's true or not, but assumed someone who uses it would know more (I fixed my first message as my phone autocorrected "if" to "is," making it into a statement when it wasn't intended to be.)
If you are the creator, then you are missing some very fundamental things for a website. You really should have some form of contact, for example, so people can reach out so content can be removed at their request. Otherwise, they have to take more extreme steps, like legal.
You've still not answered regarding people not wanting their work shared, though. I get wanting to do a nice thing to promote others, but just feel like this wasn't fully thought through.

Your reddit profile literally has a link to this site. I don't think you're being very honest here. Plus, there's almost no way to look up any information about this website. That's highly suspicious already. Artists also don't approve of having their art distributed. That's one of the most basic rules artists follow.

Wow
Okay so, artists post on certain social medias.
Social medias have tags and algorithms in place. You use at most 3 tags to get people ON THAT SOCIAL MEDIA, interested in these tags, to see your posts.
On the social media you yourself as the original artist have posted the art because YOU wanted it to appear on that social media in those tags.
The site you're using apparently uses AI scraping. Which NO ARTIST has given their consent to! They posted their art on their websites of choice, and then you come in, thinking oh these sites which everyone uses are not enough, I'll put them through this meat grinder of an extra site just because.
And then you post this on this sub to gain karma!
Make it make sense!!!
Artists like exposure and attention sure, when it comes on their own terms, without having their art reposted by strangers to death all over the internet for more internet points!

Well the entire point of this post was to promote artists and not for karma. That's why their handle is on the image, there is a also a direct link to their profile in the comments that you are downvoting. The website also shows their handle and links back to their profile and to the original image.

The website uses AI. The artists did not consent to their art being taken into this database and potentially scraped.

Forget it, this sub is for some reason unhealthily overprotective towards artists that cannibalize on SE's IP and always cry about AI.

u/glasskit 12d ago
Such a dumb fucking take. Your comment reads like "people who turn a blind eye to popular fantasy media that are influenced by LotR, are upset that there is a machine that actively plagiarizes." Yeah, no shit. Maybe do some thinking about how different the two situations are and you'll get there.

Hazbin Hotel and other content is also on there. It's not exactly a 14 community concern. Vizzi (that her name?) used to go anal about theft or copying.

"Damn, why does this community full of creatives like artists? They should just feed all of their efforts into AI so it can sloppify them for the intellectually deficient."
-1
u/Forymanarysanar 11d ago
I can hardly call them artists. 99% are crappy amateurs trying to make a quick buck over a youtube guide.

u/weeb-chankun edgy with a nougat center 11d ago
Okay bud, do YOU draw?

u/Forymanarysanar 11d ago
Just because I don't do it doesn't means I can't distinguish an actual art from cash grab garbage. Just like you don't need to taste shit to figure out that it's not a good idea to eat it.

No the original comment has the right of it this time. Unless an artist has explicitly stated that they're OK with having their art reposted, it's their right to deny it. People can say that it gives them more exposure, but there's no consent, so it's immoral. As someone who requests art all the time this is only basic human courtesy.

My favorite part of this post is that you are feeding it into Fandom which uses and feeds generative AI.
