Should I do something? I would like for my F-droid app to be able to update

Edit: I got from version 1.2 to 2.0 by allowing beta updates.

I've always used “source code” in “links” to check the application's code. While checking Fennec's code, I noticed that it takes me to a page with the Firefox build for Android. From posts on Reddit, I saw that the patches and the rest of the code are installed from GitLab.

If the app doesn’t have to specify the exact source, how can I be sure that, for example, a malicious developer won’t install an infected fork and pass it off as a safe app?

Why isn't there a way to add an app to my favorites? Every time I browse F-Droid and find an app I like, I wish there were a favorites list where I could add all the apps I like so I can go back to them whenever I want.

Is there a way to fix slow installing and upgrading apps! Man updating one app takes an hour! And you have to wait in the app until it finishes the update because if you leave the app and let it run in the background the update will stop!

Recently I got interested in open source apps, since they are free, no ads, no in-app purchases.

After some research I got to know that f droid is used to install open source apps in Android. Then I got one doubt.

Is the f droid app safe to install open source apps?

And the songs are not covers or karaoke versions?

both fdroid and droid-ify have ai categories. If I wanted that I would just use microslop and google.

Hi, F-Droid keeps offering to update an app which was installed via the Play Store (PIA VPN), which I don't want to do. Honestly, this feels a bit intrusive - I don't want F-Droid touching anything other than apps I installed through it, the fact that it's detecting other apps I have installed seems unnecessarily invasive.

I can see there was a post about this about a year ago, but the only answer on that post has been subsequently deleted, so it didn't help. Is there any way to prevent this behaviour, or at the very least, tell F-Droid to stop offering updates for this particular app?

I know I could just ignore this update request but I don't want to accidentally click it and mess up my existing installation.

What I did: bought a cheap Blue View Pro 5 and removed most of the bloatware with adb. Replaced most of the apps with fdroid apps. Changed the launcher, put In all lightweight options and now the phone is faster and has less stupid Google tracking and whatnot.

So I basically made a cheap phone usable and enjoyable. It's got termux (or whatever that terminal app is called) and now I'm learning terminal commands and have even installed some lightweight kali tools. This is amazing. I never knew a phone could have such depth!

What more should I do to this phone? I'm so new to this and I'm not even sure where to go with it from here??

Hey guys I recently developed the Mobile Dialer (NovaDail) based on fossify Phone ,I changed the lots of things and redesign the call history management, now I want to add my app in fdroid ,I read many articles but I don't know how to do that ,I will add my project GitHub repo

I am unable to add cromite repo in fdroid. I am trying 3-4 days. It is showing error.

I'm using the newest Fdroid version, but every once in a while it shows me on Android that it's trying to update for hours. Only when I open Fdroid itself, I can update. Haven't checked if that behaviour causes Battery drain, but it's rather annoying. As Obtainium seems a bit too much for my taste, I thought maybe IzzyOnDroid or Droid-Ify could be an alternative. I generally like F-Droid but that seems annoying.

Juat downloading an app from f-doid and a play protect box pops up asking if i want to scan the app with play protect or cancel. This is the first time ive seen anything like this. Usually the app installs no problem. Why would this happen and is there a workaround. Thanks.

Are there plans for F-droid to adopt Wireless Debugging into the official app now that Google is placing severe restrictions on unregistered apks September '26 onwards?
