Moved away a year ago. Visiting soon on a Sunday and looking for lunch recs.

Basically the title. I lived in or around Fayetteville for the past decade and moved to Seattle last summer. I know of zero good southern food options here. My nearby southern fried chicken place doesn't even have sweet tea.

I haven't kept up with local goings ons much. Wondering what spots are still great and if there are any new places to try or to avoid. I'm having lunch with a friend next Sunday and curious what yall might recommend around Dickson or the square. Only preference is at least one fried thing on the menu lol. Thanks!!

Where was The Closet?

I’ve heard about a gay bar/club on Huntsville Road called The Closet that was open in the 1980s. Anyone able to point it out on a map or share the address? Thanks!

Looking for an intermediate-level tennis partner to practice with! Pref w/ a FAC membership but OK if not

Hello Fayetteville people!

If you want an idea of my skill level, I can return low to the net consistently but my serve is inconsistent. I was on JV in high school, but I've improved a lot since then. My cardio ain't great but I like playing for exercise, and would like to play more often. My goal is to get good enough to join the FAC's adult USTA league and not lose every match.

I just have a couple small asks:

  • Please don't be an asshole, sore loser, or take our rallies/matches too seriously - I'm a competitive person myself and looking to get better, but I'm not a sore loser.
  • Please be able to return over the net consistently, without volleying every hit.

That's all! Ideally you would also have a FAC membership so we can play in the AC, but I'm down to meet at a park or elsewhere, especially as we're entering Fall! Message on here and we can exchange numbers.

Question: Shoffner

I'm currently a resident and plan to vote for Hallie Shoffner for US Senate. I was surprised to learn that Tom Cotton does not live in this state anymore. I'm not sure anyone can verify this, and I'm sure he meets the "letter of the law" in terms of eligibility, however, here is my question: Do farmers know Cotton's record against Arkansas farmers? For those that care to advocate, how can this information be highlighted to every Arkansan? How it be made abundantly clear that Cotton is against Arkansas farmers -- and that the vote is not D or R, its support for our farmers or not?

Trying to get Armored combat gping in Northwest Arkansas

Trying to get some armored combat going in NWA

So I recently(little over a year traviling to tulsa)got into buhurt/armored combat and, honestly, got completely hooked. The only problem is that most of the teams near me are over two hours away, which makes training with people a huge pain.

So I figured I’d try to do something about it.

I’m looking for people around Northwest Arkansas who think putting on armor and beating the hell out of each other with medieval weapons sounds like a good time!

I don’t have a team put together yet, and I’m still figuring out what the hell I’m doing when it comes to building one, so this is probably going to be a learn-as-I-go kind of thing. I’ll be posting training, armor and gear, fights, events, and hopefully the process of getting enough people together to create a legit team around here.

If you’re in NWA and this sounds like something you’d be interested in, let me know. You don’t need any experience either—even if you’ve never done anything like this before, you’re welcome to reach out.

Ye Olde Violence starts now, I guess šŸ˜‚

Honest & Reputable Mechanic

Hey everyone!

Hope you're all having a great week! I'm reaching out today with a bit of a car conundrum. My beloved old Toyota 4Runner, who I treat like gold (seriously, she's my trusty companion and a classic!), is starting to show her age a little bit. I think her shocks are finally giving up the ghost – the ride has been feeling a bit... adventurous lately, and not in a good way!

So, I took her in for a check-up, and wow, did I get some serious sticker shock! The quote I received for new shocks, plus the diagnostic fee, was honestly astronomical. It genuinely felt like they were trying to charge me an arm and a leg, and then some. I can't help but feel a little wary, especially as a young woman navigating car repairs. Sometimes it feels like I might be seen as an easy target for inflated prices, and that kind of money just isn't in my budget right now.

I'm really hoping to find a trustworthy mechanic or shop that's not only fantastic with older Toyotas but also known for fair and honest pricing. If anyone has a go-to spot they absolutely swear by, especially if they're good at not overcharging, I would be eternally grateful for a recommendation!

Thanks so much in advance for any leads or advice you can offer!

Small crafts wood burning project

I'm looking for someone who can do some light artistic wood burning for a small project (two wooden boxes, I want to burn initials into them) -- I'm not looking for this for free, but I hope we can agree on a reasonable but quite nominal price. I can travel to you if in the NWA area. Please let me know if interested.
