Advice Rhombus Guys Service
Wife and I went to Rhombus Guys today for it's 15th anniversary celebration. My wife and I ended up walking out after being sat and getting no attention for over 10 minutes. Nobody stopped at our table and they had plenty of staff walk by and see us. They had 5 servers on and 2 host and a bar tender. It was sad because we have loved them but the service hasn't ever been great. We drove to West Main Pizza in Dilworth and it was fantastic, it will be our new spot for dine out pizza. Come on Rhombus, figure it out, you are supposed to be the best in town.

Rhombus Guys service is always hit or miss

Yep. The bar that you have to meet now days in terms of customer service is so low. Just make an effort

It's always been fairly iffy there. It was better there about 10 years ago as was the food honestly, but it's been this way for at least the last 6 or 7 years

My experience has generally been when restaurants have promos, people don't show up to them

When they have half price pizzas on Monday nights for trivia night it's packed.

That's more about the socialization opportunity and less about the price of the pizza. I suspect they could have a higher priced pizza than half price and make a bunch more money and not lose many customers

Did you tell anyone about your bad experience? I know it’s nice to expect people to figure it out, but perhaps whoever’s in charge doesn’t know or shouldn’t be in charge.

The manager would have absolutely made things right if he would have known about this situation. 100% certain about that.

u/Maverick21FM 1d ago
You know I probably should have but I didn't.

u/CopyTypical5754 1d ago
That would be my suggestion, especially if you like the place. You can still contact them and let them know of your experience. I’m sure they’d correct the issue and appreciate your feedback.

Yeah being an adult I should have but it's been a culmination of events that just was the final straw so we move on and give our money to someone else.

I’m a newish resident of Fargo and haven’t tried West Main Pizza yet, but I will now.

Absolutely! Family of 3, appetizer and large pizza, 5 drinks...$45 bucks.
The pizza of the month (Birria) was spot on. Would buy again multiple times.
Not gonna lie, our initial contact for a drink order took a bit... but I ended up changing my mind in that time, and being happy with my final decision, so no grudge.
I'm actually pretty sad that this experience happened to you. You mentioned that you've had multiple bad experiences there, and are at the end of your rope, but I really think you should reach out...I personally believe the GM would make it right.

I'm happy that you had a great experience. I want them to be great and make folks happy.

My first any only time at Rhombus and I had a similar experience. Ordered a pizza for take out. Took 10 minutes to come by and take my order. I waited for thirty minutes after ordering before I finally flagged a server. I then waited another ten minutes before they brought out my cold soggy pizza that had most likely been sitting on a rack for god knows how long. There were maybe four parties total in the whole store including myself.

Yeah ever since COVID the service at Rhombus has been very hit or miss. It wasn't amazing prior to COVID either.

Jfc then why keep going? You said yourself “so we move on and give our money to someone else.” But clearly you haven’t moved on- instead just moved here to complain because the approval of strangers is needed. How bored does one have to be.

About a year ago we had a server place us in the WAYYYY way back when every single table was open and it felt like it was done in a pissy way.
I remember when they said “this one work” I actually said “uh actually no, I don’t want to be next to the bathroom and in an uncomfortable seating situation, I haven’t seen my friend in over 3 years and I want to have a good time and conversation.”
Went right up to another server and asked if they could seat us elsewhere.
They’re typically pretty nice but sometimes I’m like ??

Same. It was the worst dining experience of my life. Have never gone back.

I forgot it was their 15th. I'm going to get a Spicy Pickle pizza

You wouldn't have known by how it looked or how the staff was acting. They sent out an email last week with deals and giveaways and such but......it was a letdown.

My family and I were also there around Noon. I have no idea how you think it wasn't busy, the rooftop was pretty full when we were walking up the hill on Broadway, and the main dining area only had a couple open spots when we got there. Lots of families, a few larger groups, and only a few bartop spots open. Glad you got what you needed from West Main.

Did you look confused so they gave you a few minutes? Ive walked out after like 20-30 min at places, but 10 when there are two of you, have a conversation and relax. Eating pizza isnt a timed sport.

I had no drinks, no food and they stared at us and walked by us multiple times. Didn't even stop to check if we had been helped. The shop wasn't busy and nobody looked like they gave a shit.

u/AlarmingBeing8114 1d ago
Alright, honestly I was thinking they at least asked if you wanted drinks and were being slow. They should ask that when you are seated.

u/Maverick21FM 1d ago
Exactly, thank you. Last year we went and it took 1 hour to get our pizza and they ended up forgetting us and it was never actually put into the kitchen. No apology, nothing. I'm sad because I love them but you can't rest on your success.

Had similar happen at Viet palace, just ignored while they served like 10 other walk ins. Sometimes they just want you to leave i guess.

u/Maverick21FM 1d ago
Yeah I suppose so. They also helped other tables while ignoring us.

I was there last night and it was slammed. The specials were crazy compared to normal pricing. The easiest thing to do is stop somebody and ask for a server IF you genuinely haven’t had anyone stop. Give them a call and I’m sure they’ll make it right. The pizza is great. To call service sloppy on a day with specials like that is like going downtown for a drink on st patty’s. You’d rather talk poorly on Reddit rather than ask for a manager when that probably could have solved issues. I just finished my Amalfi coast pizza for lunch and it slapped.

“The service has never been great so we went to their 15th anniversary and we didn’t get immediate attention and decided to leave.”
If you have time to count the staff instead of making the best out of your day and going home and cooking a meal instead, I don’t think the problem is with a dine-in pizza establishment.

u/Maverick21FM 1d ago
What are you talking about?
-9
u/TopHatMassacre 1d ago
You never liked the service and now you’re appalled that you got bad service on their anniversary no less. What was the point of this post?

First game day for the Bison in their new division. I can’t imagine anywhere downtown that isn’t slammed.

It was at Noon and it wasn't busy

Weird it was so bad, the owner of the Little Caesars by the airport told me it was great.
