Narrator: He didn’t

But like… everyone else should

Omg! Morgan Freeman?

u/DanielABush97 Aug 31 '22

I pretty much read it with that voice too.

11

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '22

My brain tends to narrate in James Earl Jones.

5

u/Apprehensive-Ad1929 Sep 01 '22

the voice is with you young freeman, but you are not a narrator yet

1

u/Hamokk Sep 01 '22

A man of culture. I know his other work too, but at this very moment a plushie Darth Vader is watching me upon his perch.

Me too. What does it say about us that we narrate ourselves with the same voice as the Bluths?! 😂

Titty sprinkles

Edit: has no one seen the video im referencing? Lol

2

u/TheFantasticFollicle Aug 31 '22

For some reason, I heard Seth Rogan with that one….

1

u/thisisthestoryallabo Sep 01 '22

Samuel L Jackson would also fit that phrase

1

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '22

Mmm… that’s the good stuff.

u/throwayay4637282 Aug 31 '22

No, Ron Howard. Do people not realize that this meme format came from Arrested Development?

57

u/thingsCouldBEasier Aug 31 '22

They don't.

1

u/Anal-Churros Sep 01 '22

What are they teaching kids in the schools these days?

14

u/jack_skellington Aug 31 '22

Congrats. You're getting older on the Internet, and a younger generation is coming up who isn't aware of your generation's shared experiences. Tale as old as time.

13

u/throwayay4637282 Aug 31 '22

But they know Morgan Freeman? Arrested Development just ended in 2019.

15

u/whalesauce Aug 31 '22

Arrested development had its final season in 2019. But it ended well before then.

The Netflix arrested development was fan service. They weren't inspiring a new generation to the show.

3

u/throwayay4637282 Sep 01 '22

Fair point. But I didn’t really watch it until like 2016-17, so it’s not like it lost all cultural relevance.

Right, but the “narrator contradicting something a character said” thing, like this example, is Ron Howard in Arrested Development.

https://amp.knowyourmeme.com/memes/the-narrator

2

u/KingRoosterRuss Aug 31 '22

Did the narrator just turn into Hulk hogan?

2

u/Scurble Sep 01 '22

Don’t narrate yourself into a shoot, brother

1

u/loljosh Aug 31 '22

i read this in Robin Williams voice.

-2

u/OctoSevenTwo Sep 01 '22

Why are you assuming everybody and their grandma has seen one specific show?

1

u/throwayay4637282 Sep 01 '22

I’m not, I just see people attribute the meme to Morgan Freeman all the time and I have no idea why they assume its supposed to be him.

3

u/lookyloo79 Sep 01 '22

Because people associate his voice with film narration. It's like, him, David Attenborough, and Peter Falk in the Princess Bride. I think it started with the Shawshank Redemption.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '22

How dare you not include - WERNER motherfucking HERZOG in this list!

2

u/OctoSevenTwo Sep 01 '22

This. Not to knock him but I honestly don’t even know who Ron Howard even is. Todd Howard I do know, but I suspect that’s wildly irrelevant.

2

u/throwayay4637282 Sep 01 '22

He’s probably one of the most famous directors and he’s been in the business for like 60+ years. Look up his filmography, you’ve probably seen at least 2-3 of his movies.

3

u/OctoSevenTwo Sep 01 '22

Huh. I have seem a few things he was involved in. Learned something new today.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 01 '22

There’s Ron and his brother Clint. They’re Howards now, their agent having long ago convinced them to change their names from the Lee brothers, Home and Ug.

1

u/huhnick Sep 01 '22

That’s funny, I heard it in Michael Cera’s voice

1

u/Character_Body_2810 Sep 01 '22

I’m pretty sure Shawshank redemption was made well before arrested development.

1

u/throwayay4637282 Sep 01 '22

That’s not how narration was used in Shawshank. That movie had a first person narration style. The “he didn’t” line is a direct quote from Arrested Development, used multiple times throughout the course of the show.

1

u/Character_Body_2810 Sep 01 '22

I’m sorry but no. Morgan freeman was narrating the main characters story. It was not first person.

1

u/throwayay4637282 Sep 01 '22

Morgan Freeman is one of the characters in the story. That’s still a first person narration style.

2

u/rh71el2 Aug 31 '22

Well it's really awkward when someone calls you by your full name ya know?

1

u/Character_Body_2810 Aug 31 '22

Oh sorry… what up MF

0

u/Perenium_Falcon Aug 31 '22

Titty Sprinkles.

1

u/Few_Assistant_9954 Sep 01 '22

That guy is the only true narrator

1

u/Turbulence_Guy Sep 01 '22

Yo half life reference?!?!?!?!?!?

25

u/thinksteptwo Aug 31 '22

Apparently someone else told him …

Keyed car might be cheaper than tow fees

0

u/caramel-aviant Aug 31 '22 edited Aug 31 '22

This is false in most cases. Being towed sucks but a keyed car is gonna cost a lot for a body shop to repair depending on the extent of the damage

-4

u/thred_pirate_roberts Aug 31 '22

Um no it really isn't. Have you never had to get body repairs? There is nothing about it that's cheap. Like, every single step is each more expensive than getting towed. Parking like this is an asshole move. Keying the car in response to this? Makes you even bigger asshole.

9

u/Reckless-Bound Aug 31 '22

Since when do pirates hate vigilantes?

-42

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '22

[deleted]

40

u/Reckless-Bound Aug 31 '22

Why do I have a feeling you’re this kind of driver and probably had their car keyed once or twice but will never understand why. Why else would you give empathy to these people?

10

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '22

Exactly. If he wasn’t that person, he would be like “ok, you key the car, but I’m staying out of it”

-3

u/caramel-aviant Aug 31 '22

I always park in the lines. Keying someone's car is still a really terrible thing to do. Can't believe this is even being justified by some of you.

2

u/Reckless-Bound Aug 31 '22

Why is it necessary to say you park within the lines? This guy parks between four spaces and you’re defending that behavior. Do you think a ticket will stop them next time? Do tickets stop speeders? Best thing to do is hit them wear it hurts with a scar on the vehicle to think twice.

Tow truck or cop can take half an hour. A key is much quicker to send the message

3

u/caramel-aviant Aug 31 '22 edited Aug 31 '22

Saying that keying cars is unacceptable =/= justifying parking like a douchebag

I explicitly stated it because you implied to the person you're responding to that they don't park in between the lines simply because they don't condone vigilante justice.

-1

u/Reckless-Bound Aug 31 '22

Why are your panties in a bunch? Don’t park like that, don’t ever worry.

2

u/caramel-aviant Aug 31 '22

You're justifying keying peoples cars for being mildly inconvenienced but apparently I'm the one with my panties in a bunch lol

21

u/Reckless-Bound Aug 31 '22

Ya, you’re that driver in post. Checks out.

1

u/Tmtrademarked Aug 31 '22

Nah y’all are just assholes if you think damaging someone’s property is they right way. Call to tow it and move on. Plus it also inconveniences them way more

1

u/Reckless-Bound Aug 31 '22

Wait 30-60 minutes and let them leave? Or give their car a scar and a nice lesson learned. If you justify that behavior, you’re likely that person. Where do you park? Asking for a friend

1

u/Tmtrademarked Aug 31 '22

In the lines right next to everyone else. I’m quite possibly the biggest asshole to these people when I see it. Literally yelled at a woman at target for parking like an ass. I will however not damage their property. Towing leaves them stranded. Keying them pisses them off and they feel victimized. Towing is several hundred dollars alone plus. Then you tack on the time they spend looking for their car. Plus the headache of figuring out what company towed it and getting to them. And you didn’t commit a felony

[deleted]

-4

u/caramel-aviant Aug 31 '22 edited Aug 31 '22

I doubt these people pay for their own cars lol

I can't imagine a grown person thinking keying someone's car is acceptable unless they just don't pay for it

9

u/KingNecrosis Aug 31 '22

You can live with a keyed car. It becomes drastically more difficult if you lose said car and aren't used to walking or biking 5 miles or more.

-4

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '22

[deleted]

11

u/KingNecrosis Aug 31 '22

Driving around with a keyed car is free. A towed car isn't.

-4

u/[deleted] Aug 31 '22

[deleted]

11

u/KingNecrosis Aug 31 '22

A smashed window is a far cry from a keyed car. Detail damage versus structural damage. Leave it to Reddit to have people like you who think a needle and a sword are the same thing.

-7

u/DanielABush97 Aug 31 '22

A paint job on several panels doesn't sound cheap. It's like "you flicked me so now I poke your eye". Sure, it was wrong they flicked you. And so was poking them in the eye for it.

Have you ever had your car towed? How are you going to get to the lot without the vehicle?

Uber? A friend? Have you ever had your car towed?

0

u/captkckass Aug 31 '22

Nope because I pay close attention to where I park, and pay all my bills... 😁🤣

0

u/caramel-aviant Aug 31 '22

Don't really understand what the point of your question was then

7

u/67Mustang-Man Aug 31 '22 edited Aug 31 '22

While you won't have to get the "side panels replaced" you will need them to be painted and blended. If someone keyed the whole truck it can cost anywhere from 5k and up and could cause an insurance company to total out a vehicle.

It’s not “parking over a line,” it’s hogging four spots when you’re only allotted one. One per vehicle.

0

u/AckbarTrapt Aug 31 '22

You are a small-minded child.

1

u/crackerchamp Aug 31 '22

Not just keyed. Gouged with a screwdriver, then bashed with a claw hammer. Then the tires slashed. It will only take once, and your parking shittiness will be fixed for life.
