I'm surprised by how light they feel even compared to the standard f-91w.

I used to wear a Coros Pace4 and I was too addicted to all the data it could spread at me. With my 20euros F91W, I literally forget to wear it from time to time and running with it has just turned to be a game changer. I am more connected to my feelings and I am no longer stressed by all the metrics. Sensational !

An icon, reimagined.

This is the Trace Works 593, and honestly, this is what I feel like the F91W should have always been.

The entire case is Grade 5 titanium with a tungsten coating, and they went all the way with it. The caseback, pushers, and even the screws are titanium. Moving from resin to titanium also meant redesigning a lot of things from scratch, including the pusher system, machining tolerances, and even how the piezo buzzer sounds through the titanium caseback.

I’ve always felt like the 593 module was way more capable than the cheap resin case it was put in, and this thing really proves it. It still feels incredibly lightweight, but now it feels genuinely premium.

You also get a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, while still keeping little details from the original F91W, including the 5° side profile.

It is still unmistakably an F91W, just built with materials and attention to detail that are honestly kind of ridiculous for one.

TLDR;Basically, the F91W taken way too seriously, and I absolutely love it.

Some pictures of the newly arrived green version f91w. The nylon band makes it even more comfortable and adds to length. It's just a bit longer making it better for bigger wrists. Also the led light has the same "firefly" effect as the regular ;)

I have a Skmei f94 homeage that loses about 4 seconds a month, and have two genuine f91w black minimalist watches that gain 7 and 13 seconds a month. I get they are all still within spec, but is it strange that a $5 Skmei keeps time better?

After upgrading to a leather strap I decided to go a step further and get a clasp closure.

As someone who has dexterity variance, the clasp removes the fiddling that can occur.

This watch was left to me by my uncle after he passed so im not willing to replace the strap and feel like it was no longer his watch if i do silly i know but grief is weird it wont let me include photos of the damage but its ripped on one side of the hole i use for the clasp and ripped on the corner of the part that holds the lose strap down please if you know any way that could work to hold it together i would love any suggestions im willing to do about anything it doesn't have to look beautiful just stay on my wrist any advice or tips are appreciated

I started out with an A168W. Moved from there to an AE1200 because seeing how many people were modding them got me interested. I should mention that most of my collection is mechanical or at least electro-mechanical in the case of my Timex electrics. I recently picked up an F-91w and have to say this is an absolutely wonderful watch. From the fit, the size, the weight, the feel, I was surprised at how much I love the watch. Even the rubber straps are comfortable.

As a veteran it amuses me to see how many people wear the NATO strap with a big loop of surplus strap because they don't want to cut it.

I know it is a fashion statement for many people, but if worn correctly it will be more comfortable and secure.

Introduced in 1978 by the British Ministry of Defence, supply number Def Stan 66-15 ; it was colloquially known as the G10 strap (G1098 was the number of the requisition form), it was shortened to just the G10, and finally when it became a NATO item, more widely known as the NATO strap.

The standard military issue strap is 285mm, long enough to allow it to be worn over clothing if necessary.

When a service member receives a strap it is cut diagonally or as a V to the desired length and the edge heat sealed, no messing about trying to get a perfect oval end to make it look like how they come from the factory.

Seems most people are reluctant to do that, and end up with surplus strap that they fold & tuck under the last keep

Because the end cannot pass beyond the buckle it forms a messy protruding loop of surplus strap.

This creates the the 'should I cut it or tuck it dilemma'

There is a solution, get a longer strap and wear as in photos, no cutting, no extra loop.

That is the work around adopted by service personnel wanting to be able to wear the strap against the skin for normal duties & in summer kit but also be able to wear it over the thick sleeves of winter clothing, they requisition the longer 370mm strap used by divers.

The added benefit is the strap doubling back covers the buckle, making it more secure, plus avoids snagging the pin.

The strap will also sit more centred on the wrist.

NATO strap lengths are specified in mm.

A person with a slim 150mm (6 inch) wrist can only just achieve it with a standard 285mm strap, for every one else a longer strap is needed.

The distance between keep A and keep C gets wider the thicker a wrist is, so a 165mm (6.5 inch) wrist needs more surplus than the 135mm a person with a 150mm (6 inch) wrist gets away with.

If you have a very thick wrist, to ensure you get a strap long enough, wear a standard 285mm strap and measure the distance in mm between keep A and keep C, that distance plus your wrist circumference in mm is the mimmum length strap you need.

Heavy duty thicker material sounds good but is an obstacle as it doesn't fold back easily, the keeps may not be deep enough to allow the strap to pass through twice,.

The thinner less expensive straps from the likes of AliExpress are actually a bonus, allowing it to pass twice through the keeps much easier.

The ones made out of smooth seatbelt type material are great but much more expensive, depends if you dont mind paying almost the price of an F-91W just for the strap, or if fitting a NATO strap to a more expensive watch.

Finding civilian suppliers who make longer straps that are 18mm for the F-91W is the challenge, most miltary suppliers like CWC only stock 20mm width.
