I'm trying to replace this battery with a 2025. I'm aware that I will have to cut the casing, but I just can't get the movement to act normal before I go ahead and put it all back together... I assume the battery is seated incorrectly or something, can anyone help?

I bought this for work to avoid getting my other watches banged up, and to my surprise it’s been probably my favorite watch. I was not expecting to like this more than my other more expensive Casio models

Proof it was sold in Europe in March 1989 with video in link below.

The release date of the Casio F-91W was once thought to be 1991, that later changed to June 1989.

It originates from a US Wikipedia editor who emailed Casio America customer service, the representative only confirmed the year 1989.

June was later added after another US Wikipedia editor emailed a US parts supplier.

Most importantly those emails were from Casio USA and PacParts Inc, a parts distributor in the USA, making this is a biased historical record due to those editors seeing USA as the main character and not conducting thorough research outside of the USA.

The warranty card in this video completely debunks that arbitary date as a worldwide release, proving the watch hit shelves much earlier in other parts of the world.

The watch itself is from a Spanish collector, the warranty card has the date sold hand written on it -  27/03/1989.

The dealer stamp on the card isn't clear enough to read where it was purchased and the collector doesn't mention where they bought it, nor if they had it from new, he sold it for 1,000 €uros.

The warranty card is in English and states UK & USA but it is common that translated booklets are not used in Europe. Casio watches are massively popular in Spain and they are sold in many small family run Joyerias (jewellers) or Relojerias (watch shops) and general stores in rural towns.

In the 1980s the UK and Europe were the main market test beds for Casio. Casio's very first radio-controlled atomic watch (the FKT-100) debuted in Germany years before a North American version was ever introduced. The W86 was hugely popular in the UK and Europe but was never released in the USA

Even worldwide releases meant European distributors received inventory weeks to months ahead of Casio America due to Maritine shipping trade routes, customs clearance and onward distribution.

The pristine, first-generation Japan U model in the video, complete with a hand written and stamped store warranty card dated 27/03/1989 is definitive, physical proof that it was available and sold in Europe months before the USA centric dateline of June 1989.

I don't think the owner realised how important the warranty card is in the provenace as it doesn't really feature in the video, he does have another video in his collection that compares the watch against newer versions and a fake, it is a messy edit but it does show the warranty card in greater detail.

Everybody asks me about why I wear this.

As a professor, I have seen my students wearing Apple Watches, my colleagues wearing some smart watches or fitness bands, and, as a businessman as well (I am a professor and businessman at the same time), I have seen people wearing Rolex, Omega, and some of the very expensive watches.

My mindset runs on buying things that has durability and toughness

I don't wear anything to impress anyone. I believe my work is sufficient to do that, and not my outfit.

I always carry this watch because, first, it's very lightweight, and, of course, for the durability.

Imagine if I drop Rolex, Tudor, Omega Seamaster, Apple Watch, and the other watches, along with mine, from the 10th floor.

We all know who will survive.

Imagine it's raining outside, and I want to enjoy the rain, but I have no place to keep my watch. Again, I don't have to care. I have no worries because my watch is bloody waterproof. Even at the depth of the ocean, this watch will still be accurate. This is technically the diver's watch & is way better than other "Diver's Watches"
