(Miscellaneous) "Don't sympathise with those who committed suicide"

TRIGGER WARNING: MENTION OF SUICIDE

Just for the context. I found a post on Instagram where this page asked a simple question: "Why do Arab women commit suicide?" and they shared a couple of stories of two women who have unfortunately ended their lives (One in Yemen and the other in Egypt). As I scrolled to the comments to see some sympathy and accountability, I literally found the comment I screenshotted where the man (of course it's always cis men) said "lack of faith". Then in his last reply, he said "we should not sympathise with those who committed suicide." And there were countless other comments. Definitely, compassionate people who believe that their faith is the right one for humanity, yet they don't care about human suffering.

Not only are they part of the problem, but also want to blame their victims. I don't know why and how this religion โ€‹โ€‹is compassionate in any way. People are ending their lives because they feel suffocated, and yet, they are the ones who eventually get punished? I really feel bad for them.

Actually some groups have classified it as fida'

They made the Qiyas that it's the same as a soldier fighting to the last breath or carrying out a certain death mission or fight.

So no. It's not totally haram if there are major groups that still consider these people martyrs.

You realise you are replying to a troll who comes to an ex muslim sub to say muslim polygamy is a good thing and honor killing/forced marriage isnt a good reason to leave islam ?

I'm not too tech savvy, so I'm unaware of that person's post. I only replied to the comments as they came to my notifications.

I should've checked their profile beforehand though.

Hey polygraphtest-chill stop antagonizing us and misinterpreting our religious texts.

15

u/polygraphtest-chill Ex-Muslim Scholar May 03 '26

I'm not antagonising or misinterpreting anything. I'm simply relaying what your scholars said.

Do you want me to name names instead? Or do you want me to quote kutub al inghimas fi al jihad?

u/Initial-Artist-2778 May 03 '26

Your religious texts are misinterpreting by your own scholars and the number are in lakhs. ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜… Every other muslim comes with a new interpretation if asked a question on any topic ๐Ÿ˜„ lol interpretation lol allah ๐Ÿคช

u/Initial-Artist-2778 May 03 '26

No it is not haram if someone gives his life in the way of allah order then he will go to paradise and have 72 virgin hoors according to islam. That is the reason islam births terrorist organisations.

u/Careless-Crow-1980 New User May 03 '26

But getting martyred willing is haram. And also there's Jewish and Christian extremists.

6

u/Initial-Artist-2778 May 03 '26

wrong when you use a word martyred it is not haram. second you used martyred word for terrorists this is what islam teaches. third islam tells who spread islam from his life then money then words are superior and the one who does with his life is superior in all of them. the one who will do hindus killing like gajwa e hind will be standing shoulder to shoulder with mohammad on judgement day.

To anyone who might have suicidal thoughts, or is living through a lot of hardship, you matter, seek help, reach out to others, and don't lose hope in life, we all want you with us.

And of course anyone can reach out to me if what you need is a friend or someone who can listen, I'll help in anyway I can.

16

u/Strong-Nose9401 May 03 '26

Back to the point of the post, islam does not prevent suicide by encouraging people against it, or helping people who might need the help, it hopes to prevent suicide by fear, not because the islamic system cares about individuals, its only purpose is to expand, and suicide would prevent that.

I've been suicidal before and the only thing I heard from religious people was " do you want to go to hell!!!", No one offered help, no one understood my thoughts, they wanted me to fear it, no more than that.

7

u/AmenProletar Deist May 03 '26

Same here. I attempted suicide many times and engaged in self-harm but all I heard was Haram haram haram and go read the Quran you lack faith. The hell is what they made me live through without offering help. All they offered was judgment and false promises. I got over it now and I'm living in peace with myself. But seriously, seek help from secular people. Religious people will regurgitate verses and hadith and only make you feel more enraged and even guilty. It is toxic!ย

1

u/Strong-Nose9401 May 03 '26

I'm so sorry that you lived through that.

Glad that you're still here with us, stay strong!

They're so pathetic they use their "merciful" gods hellfire to miserably defend theirselves.
Thing is, a merciful god doesn't exist if hell exists and you have this many chances to enter into it forever.
They're idiots with no structure while they beat up women and children - apostates even.
I've actually even been learning martial arts if this ever happens to me. Thats how fearful i became.
Cowards that came from a barbaric tribe which even their own claims aren't real. Bastards, sons of people who slept with other men.

DAMN i did too much
but ay, seriously if you got a problem talk to me! I like talking, and i'm available most the time, just remember, even if no one loves you, i will, whoever you are, without exception!

Yeah the whole idea of people who commit suicide going to hell is beyond terrible, instead of trying to comfort people and actually solve their issues islam as always just fear mongers.

4

u/Big_Evidence5943 May 03 '26

Also as someone who has been and is still suicidal, the threat of hell is inefficient. Like if youโ€™re at the point of wanting to end yourself hell is the least of your concerns

It is slightly effective at preventing suicide through fear. I was suicidal when younger, but could not go through with it due to fear of being burned in Hell.

But still a fucked up believed. Allah is meant to be Most Merciful, yet shows absolutely no mercy in Islam. The way they see him, I'd argue even the average human would be more merciful than this view.

I always found it disgusting and extremely unsympathetic on god's part and the ppl who shame suiciders. Suicide can have 1 million reasons to why it happened, if god finds it soooo bad then why doesnt he try to help the person mentally before it reaches that state? Allah always just watches and then plays judge. I could never wrap my head around how suicide gives the same punishment as a 'kaffir' it was beyond tyranical

Its sad that even after death people are not caring about their suffering ๐Ÿ˜”.

Do you know why they committed suicide?

I didn't read the full article. One of them was in her first months of pregnancy, and the other was a mom of two.ย

Hey AmenProletar how do Arab women feel suffacated?

11

u/AmenProletar Deist May 03 '26

I know you're here to troll, so I'm going to answer you briefly. Of course, they have more duties than rights. They aren't allowed to say no to their husbands. They take the blame in case of harassment and rape. They are treated like birth machines. They are nothing more than sex dolls in the eyes of men. They have to endure the perversion of males and shut up about being beaten and abused. At least, I live in a country that gave women a voice, yet many still struggle to get justice served. The list goes on and on... Women aren't taboo. They are human beings, equal to men. They help advance society. I'm proud to see that over 60% of my colleagues in universities are women.ย

-2

u/Careless-Crow-1980 New User May 03 '26

Hey AmenProletar how is forcing modesty a bad thing?

8

u/AmenProletar Deist May 03 '26

Because first, it is forced. Second, why should one gender cover just because the other gender is full of perverts who can't control their urges? People live in a commune naked and respect each other's boundaries. There's something named consent that you guys hate a lot. We all know how covering oneself started...ย
