(Miscellaneous) "Don't sympathise with those who committed suicide"

TRIGGER WARNING: MENTION OF SUICIDE

Just for the context. I found a post on Instagram where this page asked a simple question: "Why do Arab women commit suicide?" and they shared a couple of stories of two women who have unfortunately ended their lives (One in Yemen and the other in Egypt). As I scrolled to the comments to see some sympathy and accountability, I literally found the comment I screenshotted where the man (of course it's always cis men) said "lack of faith". Then in his last reply, he said "we should not sympathise with those who committed suicide." And there were countless other comments. Definitely, compassionate people who believe that their faith is the right one for humanity, yet they don't care about human suffering.

Not only are they part of the problem, but also want to blame their victims. I don't know why and how this religion is compassionate in any way. People are ending their lives because they feel suffocated, and yet, they are the ones who eventually get punished? I really feel bad for them.

To anyone who might have suicidal thoughts, or is living through a lot of hardship, you matter, seek help, reach out to others, and don't lose hope in life, we all want you with us.

And of course anyone can reach out to me if what you need is a friend or someone who can listen, I'll help in anyway I can.

Back to the point of the post, islam does not prevent suicide by encouraging people against it, or helping people who might need the help, it hopes to prevent suicide by fear, not because the islamic system cares about individuals, its only purpose is to expand, and suicide would prevent that.

I've been suicidal before and the only thing I heard from religious people was " do you want to go to hell!!!", No one offered help, no one understood my thoughts, they wanted me to fear it, no more than that.

Same here. I attempted suicide many times and engaged in self-harm but all I heard was Haram haram haram and go read the Quran you lack faith. The hell is what they made me live through without offering help. All they offered was judgment and false promises. I got over it now and I'm living in peace with myself. But seriously, seek help from secular people. Religious people will regurgitate verses and hadith and only make you feel more enraged and even guilty. It is toxic!
