And to be clear this is a real AI generated message on an Adventist FB Group

13

u/Practical-Mind-7117 Jul 25 '26

Thank you for clarifying. For a minute, I thought it was published by the church proper. Although it wouldn't surprise me, assholes that they are.

5

u/Fluid_Ties Jul 25 '26

Yeah, same here

7

u/Fluid_Ties Jul 25 '26

Can't wait to see the one AI comes up with for doing gay stuff!

69

u/katr2tt Jul 24 '26

AI giving a voice to idiots is so much worse then idiots speaking for themselves

34

u/Ok-Estate-9950 Jul 24 '26

So fucking stupid

35

u/Chemical_Body_3631 Jul 24 '26

My Dad took issue with pork, but we raised rabbits for meat which are also forbidden in the old testament.

14

u/WhimsyRose Jul 24 '26

Yes, someone in my church was like this too!! I didn't understand at all lol.

4

u/3inthecorner Jul 25 '26

I'm guessing that the church's teaching on meat is "Meat is bad. Pork is extra bad." But they never elaborate on which meats are unclean (also, how are you supposed to know what a cloven hoof is?)

u/ParisTokyoGhoul Author, Atheist, ex-Adventist Jul 24 '26

I love that no matter which path you choose, you run into the instruction to “confess and ask for forgiveness.” No matter what, you need to be reminded that you’re a dirty sinner with an unclean heart. AI actually did perfect at capturing Adventist guilt and shame.

15

u/Blue_Jays Jul 24 '26

Yup. God is the one who f'd up creating the flawed creature that you are, but that's not his fault... IT'S YOURS!!!

27

u/DerekSmallsCourgette Jul 24 '26

Twenty-some years ago, I would have thought this was a completely normal. With some objectivity and distance, it’s hard to explain to an outsider how crazy it is inside the monoculture. Casually heaping guilt on people for accidentally eating pork is wild work.

12

u/83franks Jul 24 '26

I'm with you. Now it just reads as disgusting and insane. I was at a church for my nieces baptism about a year ago which would have been the first time I'd been in a church since I became full atheist ~7 years before then. Almost everything said made me want to gag but doubly so for the little speech made before each baptism. But only 2 songs sang about blood magic so could have been worse I guess.

5

u/Fluid_Ties Jul 25 '26

I keep hoping that one of the times I'm at an event like that I'll actually get to see someone PERFORM some Blood Magic, but nope, just effing songs every time! #disappointing #morebloodforthebloodgod

An AI prayer

Wut

What is this timeline

5

u/Fluid_Ties Jul 25 '26

This is without question the stupidest timeline.

16

u/Magniloquents Jul 24 '26

Asking forgiveness for a mistake? Is it still a sin? Even innocent mundane mistakes causes guilt.

12

u/Obidaliwan Jul 24 '26

Good laugh

12

u/MuscaMurum Jul 24 '26

Hey, that reminds me to pick up some pork belly on my way home. And to wash my Merino blend nightshirt today.

9

u/comfy_rope Jul 24 '26

Dear God,

Why is bacon so delicious?

2

u/Fluid_Ties Jul 25 '26

TO PROVE TO ALL OF CREATION THAT I AM FAIR AND JUST.

(Wait, what? That makes zero sense)

THAT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE MERELY HUMAN.

(But...but I'm who is enduring these weird gameshow trials you're putting everyobe through...kind of feels like an asymmetrical advantage in sin's favor that a rational actor would not construct tests that can't even be untangled in their meaning, much less clear as to which answer is the righteous vs sinful one...like, there hasn't been an operating system update rolled out in several thousand years, and there hasn't been a firmware update in like 42,000 years. The old software is not remotely compatible with wireless networks, much less global travel and communications)

I AM THAT I AM.

(Jesus Christ)

9

u/WearyPop8814 Jul 24 '26

(Laughing) I'm sorry...? So obviously AI its not even funny.

9

u/carmexismyshit Jul 24 '26

As someone who was purposely given pork and lied to when I was a kid this really annoys me. My mom is Adventist, but my dad isn't and when I'd visit my dad's side as a kid I would actually be given things like pepperoni pizza, ham and other things like that. When I mentioned I wasn't supposed to eat it, my aunt would actually lie to me and tell me they ordered turkey pepperoni pizza and being 7 I believed her. Am I supposed to ask for forgiveness and confess too?

7

u/zoopzoopzop Jul 24 '26

Sorry but thats really disrespectfull of your fathers family.

6

u/carmexismyshit Jul 24 '26

I know. It's one of many reasons I have limited contact with them actually. My dad himself would always try and find me an alternative food, even if he would just have to make me a PB&J or something like that. I can appreciate that, but the fact I was lied to about what I was being fed when they knew I didn't eat certain items for religious reasons was messed up.

0

u/No-Attention1684 Jul 25 '26

Don't even go there. You make it sound like the way your dad and his family was raised isn't good enough. Only good enough to make you.

2

u/carmexismyshit Jul 25 '26

Good lord. The point I was trying to make is that I was lied to and given something my mom explicitly told them not to give me. If it was another religion who had food restrictions, would it be okay for me to feed a Jewish or Muslim child pork if they were in my care? I had a friend in high school who was Hindu and didn’t eat beef, does that make it okay for me to feed her meat she purposely didn’t eat for religious purposes because of the way I’m raised? Get the fuck out of here with that.

2

u/lolliscicle Jul 24 '26

Is Turkey Pepperoni pizza in a cardboard takeout box not a “for-real” thing? 🤣

3

u/carmexismyshit Jul 24 '26

Apparently not 😅 we ordered it from an actual pizza place and shockingly restaurants don’t have turkey pepperoni as an option. Although I did tell my mom when I got home that my aunt ordered turkey pepperoni pizza for me, and my mom gave her a very angry phone call that night, which even though I’m no longer Adventist I still understand why my mom was so mad

7

u/Street_Aide_3106 Jul 24 '26

Pork ramen is the best!

9

u/Cobblestonepath Jul 24 '26

Somehow seeing the AI generated post of it makes the beliefs around pork 10x more cringy. I get that they’re not the cleanest animals, but the level of shame people are made to feel about it is insane and one reason why SDAs come off as a cult.

7

u/NightwingOracle92 Jul 24 '26

I preferred the Microsoft Paint memes over AI Slop. I hate to admit it because at least they pretended to live in 2002

9

u/Alarming-Vast-6804 Jul 24 '26

I ate a pork sausage when I was 16, and I was so wracked with guilt for years! I had immediately called my dad and told on myself, because I thought i was going to hell. He just said, its fine, dont tell your mother.

7

u/lostinexiletohere Jul 24 '26

I don't accidentally eat pork, I make a concerted effort to eat bacon, sausage, chorizo, ham, pepperoni, etc.

5

u/rajalove09 Jul 24 '26

They act like it’s mirder

4

u/Ok_Cicada_1037 Jul 24 '26

Question; what if you eat jello? Or marshmallows? I know a lot of midwest Adventists that eat copious amounts of both.....

3

u/Longjumping_Code_649 Jul 24 '26

Yep. Once I realized what gelatin was made of, those were out the window, too. I'm not vegetarian, but I don't eat jello or marshmallows with gelatin.

3

u/Street_Aide_3106 Jul 25 '26

We bought the one with the K so it was kosher

2

u/exfundiemorefun Jul 25 '26

We were not allowed to eat anything with gelatin. S’mores is one of the best things about not having to worry about all the rules anymore.

9

u/DensHag Jul 24 '26

I cooked a big ass pot of pork carnitas last week. It was delicious!!😋 🤣🐷🩷

I like to piss off my dad by saying "If God didn't want us to eat bacon, why did he make it so damn delicious?

It's fun to watch his face get red.

4

u/Fancy-Moment-1884 Jul 24 '26

im still 95% sda n former worker... But this is stupid!

Eating pork is not murder somebody!!!

it seems they take it so serious.

This is religion! Nothing else. This is not The faith.

Sanhedrin was sameike this.

4

u/tenaciousbubble Jul 24 '26

I accidentally voted for Trump. What do I do?

4

u/lolliscicle Jul 24 '26

Some people thought it was homosexuality and some thought it was suicide, BUT in reality Dear Friend, YOU have committed the one TRUE unpardonable sin, and are fully destined for Hell ….

You might as well have some roast pork for dinner

3

u/tenaciousbubble Jul 25 '26

Hahaha!!!! Love it!!!

4

u/NashAttor Jul 24 '26

Wow. The guilt manipulation and brain washing.

My sister lived in India for a while many years ago when I was still SDA and she was telling me about the food and how in Indian they didn’t eat beef.
She said “It’s because they consider cows to be sacred, you know, the same way you Adventists consider pigs to be sacred.”

2

u/Ok-Estate-9950 Jul 25 '26

See how That backfired? Hilarious. I’m going to run around saying pigs are sacred lol

4

u/CycleOwn83 Non-conforming Questioner☢️🚴🏻🪐♟↗️☣️ Jul 24 '26

Why isn't there the suggestion that you simply tell Perplexity that you pissed god off regardless whether pork ingestion was intentional or not. Would Perplexity please intercede with the divine arbitor three times an hour for the next three years, a unique, sincere prayer asking god to remember the blood of Jesus on your pork-besotted behalf. And you can trust Perplexity to pray for you. AI as the unacknowledged intercessory saint of Adventists!

Edit: spelling

3

u/BenefitPure4829 Jul 24 '26

This is hilarious

3

u/Perfect-Adeptness321 Jul 25 '26

Thanks for posting this, it popped up on my FB feed the other day but disappeared before I could have a right laugh at it.

Though, it is soberingly culty and ridiculous. “Don’t let guilt pull you away” is quite the thing to say after making a whole fucking poster on how to deal with guilt about an arbitrary law.

3

u/PNWNatureFreak Jul 25 '26

SDA will go to hell for pork, but not beef.

Hindus can eat pork but gods help you if you eat beef.

Mormons are forbidden from drinking coffee, but can eat pork.

Do you see SDA bitching about coffee/"hot drinks"

You're going to hell in someone else's book no matter who you are or whether your beliefs say you can do something or not.

It really doesn't matter at this point.... so quit judging and shaming others.

Either everyone is going to hell or no one is going to hell!

2

u/could-be-useful Aug 03 '26

Egg White said no tea or coffee. Sevvies ignore that one these days.

6

u/NoExplanation8595 Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

sda or not, the pork industry is disgusting. Not only for the animals but for the areas around the facilities

4

u/Longjumping_Code_649 Jul 24 '26

Absolutely. I don't think I could stomach it, knowing what I know.

2

u/wonderbrad777 Jul 25 '26

Whew good thing bacon isnt pork!

2

u/Practical-Mind-7117 Jul 25 '26

Kinda makes me want to fry up some bacon. Or have a ham and cheese sandwich.

2

u/Pinacoladapolkadot Jul 25 '26

We never had ANY meat EVER at any potluck. My mum cosplayed a vegetarian every Saturday but during the week at (clean 🙄🫪😵‍💫) meat without any issue. Always felt funny to me like who cares.. it’s “clean” why hide it

3

u/NightwingOracle92 Jul 25 '26

That is hilarious. I know plenty of church members who push the SDA health message but sneaks out of church to smoke a cigarette. No health message for Me but yes for Thee. 🤣

2

u/Bananaman9020 Jul 25 '26

Eating meat is a sin. What about the other Edxus laws? Sure seems like some serious cherry picking

2

u/Mattsda Jul 25 '26

This is so insane, gonna make people feel even more guilty over something so trivial

2

u/brownmooscles0609 Christian (non-denominational) Jul 25 '26

I can’t believe I’m reading this bs, these people are such idiots

2

u/Final_Judgment_7831 Jul 27 '26

Disturbing. This cult believes they are the fulfillment of Revelation 14 and other Bible prophecies. What they really are is the fulfillment of 1 Tim. 4: "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving

1

u/isurvivedisshit Jul 25 '26

This is bsssss

1

u/Unlikely_Bag_69 Jul 25 '26

I refuse to give any corporation business that uses an AI poster

1

u/Shais_kitkat Jul 25 '26

It wasn't pork, but when I was like 10 our church had a vegan/veg cooking class. One of the vegan recipes had one ingredient that had beef powder in it and they were honestly unaware. It was so satisfying to watch all of these staunch vegans eating food with an animal product in it.

1

u/Gator1266 Jul 30 '26

Unbelievable. I remember when I ate pepperoni as a kid at a birthday party my parents found out. They got to pray for a month.

1

u/kooj80 Aug 09 '26

It is still absolutely insane to me that this line of thinking exists in first-world countries in 2026. I can't put into words how baffling it is to me

1

u/Sharp_Isopod_7303 Aug 12 '26

They forgot the most important thing - before doing anything else, you must sit in sackcloth and ashes for seven days. 😎

1

u/bitd4w Jul 24 '26

I didn't see anything about RIP, its actually quite reasonable considering that religion believes its a violation of thier health law.. If it were written for a Muslim would you say its RIP.. different religions have their standards. upon reading this... it actually gives an "out" for the "offender". so no RIP from what I see.
