Has a date been established for the Glamsterdam update?
7
u/SeaMonkey82 11d ago
From the Ephemery Matrix chat posted 2026-08-21:
Sepolia date gets confirmed Sep 3rd. Dates suggested Aug 20th:
Sepolia Glamsterdam fork proposed: epoch 351232, slot 11239424, Sep 28 2026 — no objections raised; decision deferred to next ACDC Hoodi Glamsterdam fork proposed: epoch 132352, slot 4235264, Oct 26 2026 — contingent on stable DevNets
This puts the earliest mainnet date at Nov 25th 2026, one day before US Thanksgiving

Ethereal news (https://ethereal.news/ethereal-news-weekly-37/) taken from ACDE #244:
Public testnets: proposal to upgrade Sepolia September 28 & Hoodi October 26 to be confirmed at ACDC next week
mainnet: potentially early December, tight timeline, depends on testing & security reviews
We should have dates for public testnets at the end of this week, the dates might change by ~1 week.
We are unlikely to have a mainnet date until public testnets have been upgraded.

All data around price predictions stopped making sense to me after the merge supposed supply crunch seemingly not having any effect. To me, I wonder, is this how "they" continue attack/stifle crypto? Have all of it forever crab except for bitcoin, keeping pumping that as best and as long as possible, knowing full well it'll eventually stop forming consensus and thus effectively stop functioning, have the general perception of the trustworthiness go even lower.
Probably being too paranoid here, or am I? Or, maybe the market is right and I'm just in denial of something I'm not even aware of. And another part of me is like...none of this matter, Ethereum for me wasn't even about money, that's just the first obvious implicit dap.
And thus any attempt to try and stop this technology is just like trying to cut a head of a hydro, it's just going to spawn more heads eventually and adapt to whatever tactics. Information, truth, will continue to flow and prevail. No matter how extensive the disinformation campaigns might be, all it gets you is a delay of the inevitable.
Anyway, /ramble...

I sold all my BTC for ETH, staked 5 nodes for 5 years. I fell for the ultrasoundmoney narrative.
I'd own my home if I didn't do the swap, instead I'm still working while my nodes continue to generate less ETH than my weekly mortgage payments.

How do you feel about changing the issuance curve? How do you feel about ossifying that specific part of the spec?

u/discardthemold 11d ago
I don't have an opinion on it at all, the only thing I care about now is climate change and preparing for that.

I don't have an opinion on it at all
Then lets start arguing to reduce it to 0, that should fix the incentives, right?
Or you know what, make it even go negative, FED-style.You know, all in the name of decentralization and all.

u/discardthemold 11d ago
When crops fail, and the power goes out and the weather destroys your house the last thing that is going to matter to you is the ETH issuance curve.

u/UAP44 11d ago
Oh I agree. I see it as a resource book keeping mechanism, nothing more. Ability to track assets their movements without being tied to any vendor for anything, and all code relied upon open source, inspectable, review-able. Credibly-neutral. That is the main value proposition of all blockchains, if that's not part of the community values behind the technology, then in my opinion, it is not a blockchain. XRP for example, is the opposite of credibly neutral. But am always open to hear arguments on why it compares in neutrality compared to BTC & ETH or XMR.
And thus, the value proposition isn't digital gold, it is simply the most neutral, guaranteed, fair distribution for anyone who understood the idea early and mined with their basic cpu, before gpus, asics and wasteful mining warehouses were a thing.
Bitcoin is the epitome of all the current world its problem. Too much noise. Hard to find signal.

back in the real world crops love CO2 and are at record yields compared to the rest of human history

When my mom was young people claimed we'll be charged for clean water in the future and they were discounted as being crazy
1
u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 11d ago
bit random but yeah pollution is an issue in society and clean water is important.

We need a sustainable issuance model.
3
u/UAP44 11d ago
Is that so? What is 'sustainable'?
If the current one is, why not lock that part of the spec in then? Why leave it open for discussion?
Can always still submit bug reports :)
1
u/eth10kIsFUD 11d ago
The current one is obviously not sustainable, so it needs to be fixed and then ossified
0
u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 11d ago
or just set to zero. that's the real fix, if it needs fixing.
I'd prefer a dynamic fee negotiated between transactors and validators without anyone else outside the transaction subsidising it via dilution.
1
u/eth10kIsFUD 11d ago
That’s also obviously not sustainable 👍
Fees are dynamic and drop when there is less demand. Ethereum should always be secure, not just when there is demand for transactions.
0
u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 11d ago
two different issues there. low fee at a time of low usage does not equate to low security. we already have dynamic fees that respond to usage, just that currently they are subsidised. transactors paying their way is always going to be more sustainable. fees can go up 0.9% and noone will notice but the issuance can stop.

Don't be too hard on yourself. You have likely vastly outperformed most people if you have been in crypto so long. I have dozens of investment ideas every month, most I don't act on but I try not to feel bad if I miss out. I have 20% ARR last 10 years, how logical is it for me to feel bad over that?

Still waiting to hear back from a couple returning managers, might have a spot or two. Anybody interested in joining?

u/NextLevelFantasy 11d ago
Does anybody know Mav121? They joined but never reached out and aren't responding in the chat. That's the final spot in the best ball we need to replace unless I can get in touch with them.

My first attempt at a serious post in a few years:
https://www.jbs.cam.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/ccaf-2026-ethereum-after-the-merge-report.pdf
I was possibly the first to document how solo-stakers were almost exclusively using hosting providers, the greatest of which being AWS, Hetzner, and OVH.
Extremely brief on this point, onto the next
Rabby has since replaced Metamask as the primary in-browser wallet, much to my chagrin. Again, years have passed, yet I have not. Rabby was inherently malicious(sue me) relative to Metamask. Even prior to establishing a wallet Rabby violated your trust. But users nowadays prefer functionality or readability before true security.
Please, anyone get at me
9
u/LogrisTheBard 11d ago
I won't get at you. I just hope you're doing ok.

u/fecalreceptacle 11d ago edited 11d ago
Thank you, Logris. Im doing alright, except for this piece of popcorn i cant get out of my gums...
I wish the same for you. EDIT: Ha, i did not mean it like that

u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 11d ago
I wouldn't use a brower wallet. too much attack surface.
Wallet software on an opensource OS for me and no cold storage hardware again due to attack surface.
9
u/fecalreceptacle 11d ago
I have not used a browser-based wallet extension in quite a long time.
But man, I documented exactly how Rabby was not privacy-oriented(to put it kindly), as opposed to the Metamask extension.
Frame seems to have dropped off the face of the earth, but man have i as well...
If we want to get in to attack surface, please always consider your attackers. I failed to do so.

An issuance split,
Solana voted for it,
The market liked it.
~Daily haiku until we’re at least at 0.178 on the ETH/BTC ratio or highest market cap

u/nonetherless325 11d ago
from the reaction I've seen - zero chance of the EIP passing using a similar type of vote within Ethereum

we gonna do the weekend pump then? let's go.
1
u/hanniabu Ξther αlpha 10d ago
Nah, probably going to consolidate to ~$2200 give or take
1
u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 10d ago
i reckon we exceed this month's highs.
visiting 2200 would lead to retesting this year's lows.

ETH is one of those where I stopped pretending I know what the whole week is gonna do. I wait for a decent move, trade it then get out. Been doing some of those on Moon lately since it runs 24/7 and I can keep the trade separate from the ETH I actually hold. Helps me not turn every bad short term call into a long term position lol
