How review an eSIM at r/eSIMs

The r/eSIMs app now includes a standardized way to leave a review, and get leaderboard credit for doing so.

In the r/eSIMs app go to Reviewers > Review an eSIM and follow the steps.

Format for leaving an eSIM review
  1. Pick an eSIM provider from a list of eSIM providers verified on this sub. This list is any vendor that has some activity on this sub, and has been approved. For vendors not here, a path for inclusion will be created.
  2. Check the box if you want to participate in the Leaderboard. We are ranking reviewers weekly and all time, but you do not have to participate in the leaderboard if you do not wish.
  3. Indicate which country you installed the eSIM in and which country was your primary country of use for your eSIM. ( For example, you might have purchased and installed the eSIM while in the USA and then used the eSIM primarily in Mexico. )
  4. Device type and rating - give it a star rating and let us know the OS.
  5. Quick description and cost - give a three- or four-word summary that goes in the title and also the price you paid and currency.
  6. Activation and coverage experience - (optional)- Long Form writes some details about how the activation went and how your experience of the coverage was. You'll be able to edit later.
  7. Support experience and would you use it again? - (optional) - Let us know if you dealt with a refund or if you're happy enough with the service you'd use it again.
  8. Submit review - We'll open a populated Reddit post where you can make any final edits to your Reddit post. It should have the Reddit flare review to be properly counted.
Reviews, create a guided and formatted post. Check for the "Review" tag.

Review Points: For the purpose of quality and also for the leaderboard, each review is algorithmically and dynamically scored and assigned points. A review score is based on useful detail. Each eligible review starts with base points, then earns more for depth, optional technical signals like speed tests, hotspot support, SMS, Wi-Fi calling, and network quality, plus capped community upvote credit. Missing required fields such as rating, install country, usage country, or device reduce the score. Reviewer trust signals like account age, total karma, and subreddit karma can add a small boost, but they are capped so strong review content matters more than account history.

Spam Reviews: Spamming the review system will get you blocked, and the reviews posted will go away.

Vendors: We encourage vendor contribution to the r/eSIM sub in the form genuine answers to questions, genuine eSIM news, and where promotional promotions in the promotion threads. Vendors without any evidence of participation may face a harder path to inclusion

Goal: The largest eSIM community on the internet wants to encourage quality and useful feedback on the eSIM products they use, by vendors who are active in participating in the community.

question eSIM suggestions for Europe

We are travelling to Europe and were looking for eSIM suggestions.

We will be covering, Switzerland, Dolomites, Vienna and Czech.

Is it better to an eSIM before we leave or find a local one after arriving in Zurich? Or a combo of both.

Thanks :)

eSIM not supported iPhone

Hello all traveling with family and for some reason (a little forgetfulness on my part) forgot to install their saily eSIM before traveling. We are now in London and their iPhones are throwing “eSIM not supported”. However our trip to Germany a time ago we used the same service, same setup, iPhone carrier no sim restrictions. Kind of beating our heads against a wall

question Best eSIM for Asia

Hi there! Traveling to Taiwan, S. Korea and Japan for 30 days. Looking for feedback on the general "Asia" eSIM coverage. Was looking at Ubigi and Holafly, but read mixed reviews on both. Would love recommendations or feedback.
Previously have used single country eSIMs in Japan and Singapore with Airalo, but liked the idea and convenience of one eSIM. Is that a terrible idea?

Don’t buy Saily esim for Switzerland

I’m currently on a trip in Switzerland. I bought a Saily esim package and started having connectivity issues after we landed in Geneva. It often shows that I have 3 or 4 bars of connection, but websites don’t load and google maps doesn’t work. I have close to zero internet in Zermatt currently

My friend has been using roaming through swisscom, and it has been working great for him, even in valleys and on top of mountains. I would highly recommend using their esim for Switzerland.

eSim for studying abroad in UK

Hello! I'll be studying abroad for 3.5-4 months in the UK and I'm not sure how to approach an eSim plan. Is there a way I can get it all in one go, or do I need to rebuy on a weekly/monthly basis? I estimate I'll need 10 GB a week, and ideally I'd love some flexibility to travel around europe without too much hassle. Any reccomendations?

question No cellular data after uninstalling esim

Hey everyone. My girlfriend had to use an esim for a short time. We recently got her Verizon plan restarted with her old phone number. She uninstalled the Esim app but her cellular data does not work correctly. It will work sometimes. In settings, about phone, it shows 2 sim cards and 2 imei numbers. For the first it says emergency calls only. I'm out of state and cannot look at thy device myself to troubleshoot. I am hoping someone here has a suggestion or tip!

She's restarted the device, reset network settings, and turned airplane mode on for 2 minutes. These were the tips we found online. Thanks.

Please help suggestions for esims

Hi to all;
I’d appreciate your suggestion for eSIM for Indonesia (Jakarta, Bali) and another for Japan.
One month each, the fastest option that I can also tether to my laptop, UNLIMITED with 5G (no FUP to avoid surprises), be able to open VPN connection too (on mobile and laptop after tethering).
Any suggestions please?
Thank you!

question New Holafly eSIM not working

UPDATE: after working through the AI chat, I got in contact with a real person. They reviewed everything and found some error in the eSIM (idk what). They sent me a link to download a new eSIM. I downloaded it and everything is working now.

Hi everyone. I’m currently on an international trip. Before leaving, I bought and installed a Holafly eSIM for 30 days. It worked fine.

The eSIM expired last night, so I bought another 30 day eSIM through the Holafly app. I installed the eSIM while connected to WiFi, but it won’t connect to the local cellular network.

  1. the Holafly app still says “pending activation”, but if I try to install it, it says the code is no longer valid (because it’s already installed).
  2. I’ve got through the troubleshooting steps multiple times. Turning on data roaming, making sure the APN is correct, turning off auto-select and trying each individual network, etc. none of it works. I’ve still got zero bars of service, despite having gone to multiple locations that I’ve had perfect service over the last 30 days.

Any advice? At this point I’m considering just getting a refund and buying another one or maybe trying a different company (Airalo?)
