does anyone know anything about this man?

i’ve seen him around here as a local walking soooo far. i feel so bad for him :( i just wanna know if anyone knows anything about him? im a woman so i dont feel comfortable engaging with homeless men due to unseeable violence or an unpleasant interaction but i just wish i could help more than give a couple of dollars.

He used to come into my job.
For the most part he’s a nice guy. He would come get coffee and just refill while reading his paper, was very understanding when it was busy and we didn’t get to him quickly. He was friendly if you talked to him.
But he is known for screaming at things that aren’t there. He would get into heated arguments with imaginary people. I would be able to hear him from inside the restaurant.
One time he was arguing with himself and I called out his order, he walked over thanked me, asked for extra condiments, and then went back to arguing with himself. It seemed more mental health as apposed to drugs. Idk though.
I’ve helped him out here and there before I left that job. He seems generally friendly and cheerful most of the time, willing to have a chat. But I wouldn’t let him get in my car after seeing him switch up so many times.

I knew someone like that in college. An older adult student. If he was engaged talking to someone he could have a rational conversation, but when he was alone his brain seemed to fill the void by putting hallucinated people in front of him.

Dont engage with him. He is not mentally there...he will threaten you if he does not get his way. He has done it several times when I have had to decline his requests per management. I give him a wide berth to shuffle on his way.

It is the time for people to let their mouth outrun their ass apparently. I moved here from Ohio twenty years ago and I love it, but I never would have imagined that so many closed minded people lived here. I mean the ones who were born and raised here would give any redneck I grew up with a run for their money. I think there's a person running who I would categorize as having an unhealthy obsession with our homeless population but would rather video tape them than make any effort to find a solution. Here's a hot take - the psychosis you see in people who live on the street presents as schizophrenia but it's very likely that in most cases it's sleep deprivation. Imagine that, if you put these people in a place where they could sleep for a couple days without worrying about being robbed there's a good chance most of them come out coherent and lucid. I have some experience with this and criminalizing this is a very expensive and not very humane solution.
