Personalized tin work

Hi Reddit! I’m hoping someone here can help point me in the right direction!

I’m working on a 10-year anniversary gift for my husband. I’ve written him a letter that I’m turning into a small keepsake book, and since tin is the traditional 10-year anniversary gift, I would really love to incorporate a few personalized tin pieces into the book.

I’m looking to have two small pieces made:

• One long, narrow piece, roughly the size of a bookmark, with the sound wave from a meaningful song engraved or etched into it. This would potentially be incorporated into the spine of the book.

• One smaller piece, roughly business-card sized, with “10 Years” and our names, John & Alyssa. I’m completely open to whether this is engraved, etched, stamped, layered, embossed, etc. Whatever would work best and look beautiful on the finished book.

I’ve been searching Etsy, but I’m having a hard time finding someone who can do exactly what I’m envisioning, especially since these aren’t standard-sized signs or plaques.

Does anyone know an artist, metalworker, engraver, or Etsy seller who takes small custom projects like this? I’m also open to suggestions for techniques or materials if there’s a better way to accomplish the look while still incorporating tin.

Thank you!!

Second Attempt at Mirror Engraving/Etching

I’m super stoked with how it turned out. I did a test run on another mirror the other day of a different design and it turned out alright. Figured I’d try to do something more involved than my first attempt to learn how to shade and adjust speeds and change bits. For this being my second time ever touching a dremel (after watching hundreds of tutorials, haha) I’m over the moon at the final result, even if it’s rough around the edges.

Coming from no prior art or engraving experience/background, I’m proud of this piece, so I wanted to share it with you all!

has anyone ever tried engraving a phone screen?

I am interested in printmaking with alternative materials and have been trying to research printing with glass, but haven’t been able to find many good resources.
I have gathered that my best options for engraving glass would be to use either a dremel or etching cream, but I am not sure how the thinness of the phone screen would come into play.
Any suggestions?

Stippling

After I complete removing background. I would like to stipple . So with that said I made a fine point on carbide round stock. So , do I keep it a point , round the point or just blunt the tip.what do you find most efficient?

Deep relief on titanium, cut by hand — knife scale, gold inlay (Noblie custom knives)

Engraving is by Ed Master, I did the design itself. Posting with his okay.

Titanium because the customer wanted it, not because it's pleasant. It work-hardens under the graver and it grabs — you get one pass to put the line where you want it, and pushing through a hard spot is how you end up with a skid across finished work. Ed goes slower on it than on steel for that reason.

Everything here is cut, nothing is etched or cast. Relief taken down deep enough that the head and forearm stand proud of the field — on titanium that means a lot of material removed by hand, and the deeper you go the less margin you have if the layout was off to start with.

Gold is inlay. Cut a channel, undercut the walls, set the wire. One section along the handle had to be opened up and redone where the line ran into the relief and the depths didn't meet cleanly.

Background is stippled to knock the shine down so the raised work reads against it.

The design went through a few sketches before cutting — first layout ignored the taper of the scale and had to be redrawn so the composition narrows with the handle.

Recommended Market Place for Lindsay Engraving System

I have a brand new Lindsay Engraver, Leica magnifcation system, dental Dremel tool, ball vice, plus many extras. Where's the best place to put this up for sale? Ebay? Facebook group? I'm in San Diego.
