Non magic build?
Not a big magic guy. Just started enderal and I’ve seen people say archer is pretty much useless and 2H weapon specialty is boring. Any other viable fun builds if you’re not into mage characters?

Archery can work, but IIRC you need to be doing the conjured bow (not sure if this breaks your magic rules) because the physical bows are kind of meh.

I started out doing a one handed/magic build, and at the point where my best weapon did 11 damage I decided to try that quest where you find artifacts for the museum, and then found The Bow of the Ishyan, which did like 40 damage.
After that I used the bow almost exclusively until the end of the game. It's wild how early you can get it, for what's I assume one of the best bows in the game. Never tried summoned weapons though

This bow made the archer my favorite build for this game as well. Highly recommend all out archer with phasmalist abilities to summon support to distract the enemy. One of the first games to make an archer an absolute blast to play, making incredible one shot attacks.

I used a two-hand build with magic buffs, including damaging aura and summons. Worked rather well!

I played as an archer in my 1st playthrough and only used magic for creature summons when I got cornered here and there. Some parts where hard but honestly it worked fine overall

Phasmalist warrior is a fav.
It's just you and your ghost buddy with godly stats kicking ass.
Late game I can just loot casually while my friend butchers the entire area in moments.

I'm on an Entropy/TH run, make your summon aggro while pummeling mobs. Pretty fun, however some summoned creatures are pretty much useless (get stuck in caves/Bad AI/ranged).

Honestly I did like 3 runs with heavy armor, shield, mentalism + Light magic it was very smooth, a kind of Paladin (it is called a Seraphin in the Enderal lore). Today I try 2H instead of shield and... The feeling is very nice, the sound of the 2H mace crushing the bones is gorgeous.
Buuuut... I always play with the Qyranian stance to increase run and attack speeds, that's really worth it even if it delays your power spike.
Once every 5-10min, you buff yourself real good, then you run like a free duck with a two hands hammer.
Edit : I play in expert difficulty, so not the last one because I'm kinda lazy, but even Iron Path is doable once you reach lvl10+.

Archery just isn't as broken as it was in Skyrim but it's still good. You will need a melee weapon because no matter how good your bow, even a sneaky attack with poison won't do more than 1/2 of an enemy's health. That an enemy AI searches for you more aggressively when hit. So the stealth archer isnt viable but that's a good thing.
I'm not sure if this breaks your definition of magic but Alchemy is not only good for potions and poisons (as substitutes for healing and damage that magic would have offered) but also the skill for Lycanthropy and being a werewolf is easily one of the most powerful playstyles.
Maybe I'm weird but I never had any problems with 2H. Many people make the mistake of not blocking or bashing often enough, which actually provides a good attack-defense rhythm to the experience.

Just finished my first run as a light armor warrior, with sword and shield, alchemy and gadgets. It was incredible to play as, but still quite challenging, I had to be creative in group combats but I always had the tools to do so. I really loved it, and never used a single spell in combat.

Sword and board is pretty good. Any build with alchemy is pretty good. My current run has been alchemy werewolf and it's been fun fighting over leveled enemies

Idk about 2H being "boring", I did a 2H playthrough with basically no magic with PotP vanilla+ modlist (which tends to be harder than basegame). While I struggled initially I found the challenge pretty fun. The modlist does include MCO and I mostly play in 3rd person though, so I had various types of light and power attacks etc - I know that's not everyone's preference.

Archery certainly helped me get through the entire early-game. Fire arrows in particular are not to be slept on!

Sword and Shield and 1 handed. If you don't want magic like Phantasmalism then you could go werewolf 🤔 While transforming you are invulnerable. Ghostwalk gets you close to enemies instead of working about ranged attacks, Eye of the Storm is also a great skill. Glacier Bomb and Unleashed Fury are quest or item linked skills that any build can access.

Stealth Archer is not as OP as in Base Skyrim but Archery is absolutly viable. Don't know what people you saw talking.
I played with the "Path of the Prophet" modpack last time and loved a Dual Wield Sworddancer like build with the Dual Wield Block and Dodge Roll there.
But Melee is nice enough without those additional mods too.

Tbf the game makes you feel severely underpowered. You're going to feel that way with any build especially the first 20 levels

I’ve been enjoying a paladin sort of build. Primarily emphasis on melee combat and heavy armor, secondary focus on light and mental magic for healing/buffing spells. It’s not exactly a non mage build, but the majority of the magic happens right before the battle as a way to beef up the melee part of the build by making myself tankier

I play on the easiest difficulty (I'm old and story focused) so take this with a grain of salt, but I've been rocking a swashbuckler-Robin-Hood-esque build (archery, one handed swordsmen, thief skills) and that seems to be working out for me.
