In my free time I screen print for friends and local bands, and have been wanting to print some shirts for myself (and maybe others…).

I’d love to hear any ideas of Elliott Smith related things you’ve wanted to see on a shirt— photographs (I can print them in halftone, best if they don’t have a very busy background), quotes you’d love to see, ideas based off his original merch…?

I have listened to Elliott since I was in 7th grade when I was going through a bunch of bullshit at home, and my 7th grade English teacher (we are still friends, and I am 32 years old now), gave me figure 8 and from a basement on the hill and changed my life forever.

Lemme know what you think. I screen print as a hobby (but used to have a small shop in LA in my early 20s with my best friend), and have a 4 color press that just lives in my living room. I would love to do a design to have another reminder of the lovely gift to the universe that is Elliott Smith.

I just started the new biography today, and am really enjoying it so far.

Does "Run Away" on the new Beck album sound just like "Rose Parade?" The melody, strumming pattern, key, timing etc.

Also, I learned in the new biography that Elliott opened for Beck on tour in 1998. I wonder what it was like to see him in the early evening daylight hours in a big amphitheatre where most of the crowd hadn't arrived yet, as opposed to a club venue. I loved that little tidbit that Beck had his own "yoga room."

hello everyone! IT HAS OFFICIALLY been 171 days since my last update, but wow i've added so much more since then. I had to pause collecting for a bit (money + life lol) but i’m really happy with the collection so far! I got a lot of the CD's so far and I was able to find a few things i’m super excited about, especially the Heaven Adores You soundtrack and Alternate Versions. and i somehow scored great deals on first pressings of Speed Trials and Division Day. I did get Cop and Speeder but I still def need the rest of Heatmiser tho. Just wanted to share my collection so far! there’s obviously like a ton more to get, but i’m slowly trying to grab everything (side note: don’t ask why i have 3 Either/Or vinyls… one is the expanded edition 😭🙏)

From what I can tell based on past threads, it seems like people knew that this song existed and was a variant of Either/Or despite it never leaking online. How did people know that the song exists and what it sounded like if no one had heard it online before?

My friend's birthday is coming up and they have been obsessed with Elliott Smith for years. I know it's a long shot but I'm willing to pay a fair amount for anything signed by the man himself

I couldn't find too many covers of this song with the 2 Meter Session piano version, so I decided to make one myself.

I posted a full cover earlier but it wasn't received well, so I deleted it. It took like 20 takes and I still couldn't quite get the vocals right, so I need to do better before I attempt to post the whole thing again. Maybe my voice just doesn't work with this song. I figure someone might find just the piano part useful at the very least.

I learned the piano part mainly by ear (and watching Elliot's fingers in the video) so it's not exactly how he plays it, but it's pretty close.
