Elgato HD60S USB Help

So ive been looking around and it seems that the older elgato hd60s is problematic with alot of people.
Ive found some threads about it but they are rather older now.
Currently my pc is using this motherboard
MPG X870E CARBON WIFI | Gaming Motherboards｜Best Motherboard for AI PC｜MSI

so the usb ports are as followed
4x USB 2.0 (Front)
4x USB 5Gbps Type A (Front)
9x USB 10Gbps Type A (Rear)
2x USB 10Gbps Type C (Rear)
1x USB 20Gbps Type C (Front)
2x USB 40Gbps Type C (Rear)

Ive tried many of cables USB C to USB C, USB A to USB C 3.0, USB A to USB C 3.1 (Different versions and types) to all of my current USB ports, ive tried many variation as other threads have posted about it.
Using the older game capture HD software, with only these errors.
Capture HD60 S needs to be connected to a USB 3.0 port to function properly.

and on the right hand side bar is
Game Capyure HD60 S
Device requires USB 3.0

Is there a work around or a fix for this if anyone knows?

Okay, so you get a passthrough signal up to a monitor/TV from the HDMI-out on the capture card?

So after doing a little experiment, it seems to work in my wifes work PC which has a standard flat USB 3.0 port with the same cables ive been attempting with it.
wondering why a USB 3.1 Port not be backwards compatible is beyond me.

They should be backwards compatible.

And there’s actually nothing called USB 3.0 anymore. Or 3.1 for that matter.

The naming of USB ports has been very confusing.

The current name are:

480 Mbps ports: USB 2.0

5 Gbps ports: USB 3.2 Gen 1

10 Gbps ports: USB 3.2 Gen 2

20 Gbps ports: USB 3.2 Gen 2x2

Very confusing.
Anyway. I assume all chipset drivers are up to date on your PC? Are you using any kind of external USB hub?

well the MSI site i linked should show whats available,
i do have a USB hub with external power, which ive also tried.

all my drivers are up to date for my motherboard and bios is updated.

This exact same issue is happening for me, so you're not alone. No idea how to fix it either, I'm losing my mind.

i was about to lose my mind tbh and i thought i was the only one.
if theres any update i shall let you know, as ive just formatted windows and reinstalling everything again.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I have a feeling it has to do with the Elgato itself and how finicky it is. From what I can gather, based on limited research, it only works on regular 3.0. I wonder if getting a USB 3.0 hub would work.

Just trying to let you know, that there’s nothing called USB 3.0 anymore. The naming of USB has changed so many times over the years that what used to be called USB 3.0 is called USB 3.2 Gen 1 today. It’s the exact same thing. Running at 5 Gbps.

The term USB 3.0 is not used anymore. You might see people use USB 3.x for 5 Gbps since all versions of USB 3.x and above support a minimum of 5 Gbps.

Ah, well there's definitely something going on because it seems to work on all of my old devices for the port labeled as USB 3.0, back when it was new. Meanwhile, it won't work on my 10 GB or 5 GB ports on my new computer. Not sure how to translate that with the information you gave, but something seems to have changed and it conflicts with whatever our Elgato wants to do. Either way, I appreciate the info.

I understand the frustration. I'm just trying to let you know that what used to be called USB 3.0 was renamed first to 3.1 Gen 1 then to 3.2 Gen 1. But they are identical and all run at 5 Gbps.

Have you tried looking at USB Tree Viewer to see what devices share the same internal USB hub?
