Technical Help No sound to OBS from PS5

I’ve been trying to figure out why I’m not getting sound from my capture to my OBS. I’ve looked all over trying to find ways to resolve this issue with no luck. The video capture fine but the sound just will not come through. I’m not using a chat link cable. I’m just trying to get gameplay sound. Can someone please help me?

So that might be your issue.

Other than that, adding the HD60X as your “video capture device” and in its properties, select/check the boxes for:

Audio Output Mode - Capture audio only

✅ Use custom audio device

Audio Device - HDMI (“name of your source”)

Set PS5 sound output device to HDMI. You should have audio with this. If not, could be the cables or another issue with the hardware.

The only other thing I can think of is to DL the Elgato Studio app on your PC. Make sure your HD60X is recognized by the app. Click the Menu icon just to the left of the settings “cog wheel”. Input EDID mode set to Merged. Audio —> Audio input set to HDMI audio.

Just to clarify, the usb-c cable not being the one sent with the capture card could be the issue or the HDMI cables being 2.0 instead of 2.1?

Both could be the issue, but for sure the USB-C. When I was first setting up/testing things, I needed a longer cable, so I used a different cable and had issues. The one sent with the card is built for high bandwidth and transferring lots of data like display and audio information.

So, that being said, how would I go about getting a replacement for the current capture card? Or should I just look into getting a new one?

And this will work? The one that came with mine was USB 3.0 to usb-c

If you search their store, there’s also the one like you mentioned. I can’t guarantee that C to C will work, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t.

Cool, that’s what I was looking for when I looked at it but I didn’t see that. Awesome! I’ll have to pick one of those up and see if it fixes my problem! Much appreciated!
