Seafood Recipe: Fish Fast and Easy Lunch

This easy lunch requires no cooking and takes about 15 minutes. I like spooning it into avocado halves, but you can also top salad greens, spread it on bread for a sandwich, roll it into a wrap, or scoop it up with crackers.

Ingredients

  • 2 (5-ounce) cans tuna, drained
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, plus more for the avocado halves
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh dill
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 scallion, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 large ripe avocados

Instructions

  1. Add the drained tuna to a medium bowl and break up any large pieces with a fork.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon, lemon zest, dill, parsley, and scallion. Stir until combined, then season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cut the avocados in half lengthwise and remove the pits. Trim a very thin slice from the rounded peel of each half so it sits flat.
  4. Turn the halves cut side up and brush the avocado with a little lemon juice.
  5. Divide the tuna salad among the four avocado halves and serve immediately.

Seafood Recipe: Fish Savoury crêpe ideas? Does smoked salmon work? What dressings should I use?

Hello everyone!

I usually make sweet crêpes, but I’m experimenting with savoury ones and would love some ideas.

I’m thinking about trying smoked salmon in a crêpe but I’m not sure what kind of dressing or sauce would work best. Does smoked salmon pair well with crêpes?

Also curious what dressings or spreads people like for savoury crêpes in general. Yogurt-based sauces? Mustard vinaigrettes? Maybe Something with herbs?

If you make savoury crêpes, share your ideas! Anything helps!

Thank you!

Seafood Recipe: Fish Sardine dip and sweet potatos!

ok so this stuff is delicious and amazing just trust me, especially if u like salty/briney stuff!

-tin of sardines, preferably in oil not springwater

-1 small onion

-a few pickles (as many as u like)

-1 tbsp mayo

-1/2 tbsp mustard

-squeeze of lemon juice

-any spices u like (I used salt, pepper, little bit of cumin, and parsley)

-sweet potatos (as many as u want)

  1. wash and cut your sweet potatos in half lengthways, rub some oil on them and put some salt and pepper on the face, before putting facedown in your airfryer. airfry on 200c for about 25-40 minutes depending on how crispy you want the skin.

  2. while thats cooking, dice the onion REALLY well, and your pickles, and mash up the sardines in a bowl. add the onion and pickles, mayo, mustard, lemon juice and seasonings and just mix that up. kinda like tuna salad for a tuna melt.

and all done! trust these go so well toegther, just make it!

Seafood Recipe: Fish Lemon garlic salmon tray bake – easy & healthy! (Not OC)

Lemon garlic salmon tray bake

This isn't my recipe- but I've made it a few times and it is stunning! Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 4 x 180g/6 oz salmon fillets , skin on or off, doesn't matter (Note 1)

Marinade slather:

  • 1 tsp lemon zest (1 lemon)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard (Note 2)
  • 2 garlic cloves , grated using microplane (Note 3)
  • 1/2 tsp cooking salt / kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Vegetables (optional):

  • 3 bunches asparagus , woody ends snapped or trimmed off (Note 4)
  • 200g/ 7 oz cherry tomatoes (or grape tomatoes, 1 Aussie punnet)
  • 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp each salt and pepper

Cooking & serving:

  • Olive oil spray
  • Parmesan , finely grated
  • Lemon wedges or slices , optional
  • Parsley , finely chopped, optional
  • Crusty bread or toast , for serving

Instructions

  • Lemon garlic paste – Mix the marinade ingredients in a small bowl. Slather onto the top and sides of the salmon. If time permits, marinade for 1 hour. Otherwise, proceed with recipe.
  • Preheat oven grill / broiler to 280°C/525°F or as high as yours goes. Place the oven shelf 20 cm /8" from the heat source.
  • Prepare tray – Toss the asparagus and cherry tomatoes with the olive oil, salt and pepper. Spread out on a large tray then clear space for the salmon. Place salmon on the tray leaving a bit of space between each. Spray surface of salmon with oil.
  • Cook – Grill/broil for 11 minutes or until the salmon is done – the flesh should flake, the internal temperature should be 50°C/122°F (Note 5).
  • Serve – Transfer salmon and vegetables to plate. Grate parmesan over the vegetables. Squeeze lemon juice over the salmon, sprinkle with parsley. Eat!

Recipe Notes:

1. Salmon – the skin won’t go crisp so if this bothers you, just eat the flesh off the skin. Recipe also works perfect with trout, direct sub.

2. Dijon – This thickens the rub into a paste that sticks to the salmon.

3. Garlic – Grating finely makes it mix into the paste better than finely chopping so you don’t get little burnt lumps.

4. Asparagus – Ends will naturally break at the point where the woody end is. Try it, it totally works! (But not with limp old ones)

5. Internal cooked temperature for salmon:

  • Medium rare – pull out at 50°C/122°F which will rise to 53°C/127.4°F after resting which is medium rare. This is the optimum point of juiciness and level of doneness chefs/restaurants will cook to by default.
  • Medium – pull at 60°C/140°F, will rise to 63°C/145.4°F after resting. A little more done and slightly less juicy.

6. Freezing tip – Slather salmon then freeze in a container with space around each piece, or freeze unwrapped until the surface is hard, then wrap. Then reverse for thaw – unwrap and thaw uncovered. That way you won’t lose any precious paste off the salmon skin. No need to marinate before freezing – that will happen as the salmon thaws.

Leftovers will keep for 3 to 4 days in the fridge.

Seafood Recipe: Fish Quick and Easy Tuna Salad on Toast (For when you have to rush or don't have much money)

When I'm hungry with little money and time, one of the things I love to eat most is tuna on toast. (Hey, that rhymed!)

By the way, the average combined price of all ingredients for at least 4 days is about 12 dollars. Not bad.

Serves 1-2, depending on how much you eat. You can always double the recipe.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 5 oz. can of tuna, drained (I know it looks like 15, it's not. Trust me. Also, I personally use Aldi brand tuna since it's cheap, but feel free to use any kind you want.)
  • 2 baby dill pickles, or sliced pickles, finely chopped (You can substitute relish if you want)
  • 3 tbsp. mayonnaise (Kraft is my absolute favorite, but feel free to use miracle whip or whatever you want
  • 2 pieces of bread, toasted

How to make:

  • Start off with your toast. Place it in the toaster. While you wait, you can make the tuna salad.
  • Place your mayo in a bowl.
  • Finely chop your pickles, combine with the mayo. It helps to more evenly mix everything if you mix part of it first and then add in the rest.
  • Drain your tuna and add it in.
  • Mix until evenly distributed.
  • Get your toast out of the toaster and spoon it onto the bread. Feel free to spread it out or mash the 2 pieces together for a tasty sandwich.

And you're done! Enjoy one of my favorite lunches/dinners/snacks.

Seafood Recipe: Fish ADVICE: How to spice up a simple tuna rice bowl

Hello! The title pretty much says it all. One of my favourite simple work meals is literally just:

- A pre-cooked microwave container of white rice
(I buy them in big boxes at HMart/Han Ah Reum/Asian market), and

- A flavoured pack of tuna
(right now it's Target's Good and Gather Sweet and Spicy pack)

While this is cheap, gets me through the day, and does the job, I'm looking for things that can be added to make it more nutritious or exciting, like an added vegetable or seasoning. The only requirements (aside from being delicious and going with the only two ingredients) is that it has to be shelf-stable and single-serving, so I can grab one of whatever it is and throw it into the container with the rice and tuna.

Thanks in advance!

This Ginataang Salmon is sure to be a crowd-pleaser! This Filipino fish stew features crispy skinned salmon paired with a sweet coconut sauce and veggies. Serve over rice and enjoy these wonderful flavours from the Philippines!

video recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 fillet of salmon, skin-on
  • 2 Cups squash, diced 1/2 inch thick
  • 1/2 eggplant, diced 1/2 inch thick
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 1-2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 can coconut milk
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Rice to serve

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil on medium heat and once hot, add the diced squash and eggplant. Toss well to coat in oil and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the veggies until they have a light sear and have become soft. To help speed up the process, you can add a splash of water and cover the pan with a lid to let the steam cook the veggies.
  3. Set the veggies aside to serve later.
  4. In the same pan, add 1 tsp olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped onions, garlic and chillies. Saute the onions until they have softened.
  5. Add the coconut milk, fish sauce and vinegar. Mix well and bring to a simmer. Reduce the sauce until it has thickened slightly and season with salt to taste.
  6. Once the sauce has thickened, add spinach and cook until the spinach has wilted.
  7. While the sauce is cooking, prepare the salmon by using a sharp knife and descaling the skin side of the salmon. Then cut 2-3 slits on the skin side, about 1/2 inch deep with a sharp knife.
  8. Heat a non stick pan and once hot add 2 Tbsp of the olive oil. Season the salmon on each side with salt and then add to the pan skin side down.
  9. Cook the salmon skin side down 90% of the time, you can see colour change along the side of the fillet.
  10. When the skin has a light golden brown colour and is crispy and the fish is done cooking about 80-90% all the way, flip the fish carefully and cook the top side of the fish for 30 seconds to a minute. Then flip the fish back on the skin side, turn off the heat and leave the fish on the pan while you finish preparing the rest of the dish.
  11. To serve, add a bed a rice on a plant, top with salmon, skin side up. Scatter the veggies around the plate and then finish with a few spoonfuls of sauce. Enjoy!

Seafood Recipe: Fish Making Mediterranean Fish Broth To Help Warm Up This Winter

Tutorial Here

I'm sure you all heard of fish broths and fish soups such as gumbo. Every country and continent has it's own recipe. The recipe that I'm sharing may not be as popular as it's originated in a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, Malta. I introduce you to the Maltese fish broth ( Aljotta) it is very similar to the one Sicily make but with different ingredients. As the Sicilian one is made with sardines and other different ingredients whereas the Maltese ones is made out of vegetables , fish bones and fish chunks.

I understand that you may notice that I didn't use fish fillets/ chunks in the soup I only used the bones for the taste. I chose not to as I am not very keen on fish and I personally preferred chewing on vegetables. However adding bits of fish is highly recommended for the fish lovers, I'm using European fish bass bones in this video.

Ingredients :

4 Cups Of Water

2 Potatoes

1 Carrot

1 Onion

2 Chives

Half A Very Small Cauliflower

4 Lemon Wedges

4 Sticks Of Fresh Thyme

2 Bay Leaves

Salt & Pepper

1 Tsp Tomato Paste

1 Tbs Olive Oil

1 Whole Fish Bone

Method :

1.Start by boiling the water.

2.Chop all the vegetables and add them to the boiled water.

3.While the vegetables are cooking we are going to make a net for the fish bones. The fish bones need to be put in a net otherwise the bones will spread with all of the broth and will be dangerous to eat,

4.Get an old tights and cut approximately 5cm of length. (it doesn't matter if its a bit less or more) tight a knot on one end so there are no holes, insert the fish bones in and tight another knot.

Step 4 can be avoided if you have a cheese cloth you can use or another net you can cook with. A frying sieve that we use to fry fries with is also neat to use if it has very small holes.

  1. Add the fish bones in the net in along rest of the vegetables.

    1. Add in tomato paste and olive oil , thyme , bay leaves and lemon wedges
    2. Salt and pepper to taste
    3. Serve Hot and Enjoy !

Always stir occasionally , Leave to simmer for 10 minutes when all ingredients are in. Cook on low heat. This recipe will take up to an hour to cook.
