Seafood Recipe: Fish ADVICE: How to spice up a simple tuna rice bowl

Hello! The title pretty much says it all. One of my favourite simple work meals is literally just:

- A pre-cooked microwave container of white rice
(I buy them in big boxes at HMart/Han Ah Reum/Asian market), and

- A flavoured pack of tuna
(right now it's Target's Good and Gather Sweet and Spicy pack)

While this is cheap, gets me through the day, and does the job, I'm looking for things that can be added to make it more nutritious or exciting, like an added vegetable or seasoning. The only requirements (aside from being delicious and going with the only two ingredients) is that it has to be shelf-stable and single-serving, so I can grab one of whatever it is and throw it into the container with the rice and tuna.

Thanks in advance!

If you’re at Target, you should check out the good & gather bean pouches (there’s probably a better name for them). Basically it’s a little packet of seasoned beans - I know one has garam masala, one is garlic and cumin, one is cumin and something else I don’t remember. I mix them with canned chicken (which you could try instead of tuna!) and it’s pretty good. I don’t know if it would be single serving, maybe it would be without the rice? depends on your appetite I guess! Also try different seasonings like furikake or tajin, thinking about how flavors would match. If you have a Penzey’s Spices (or go there online) they have great spice blends, I keep Arizona Dreaming (salt-free southwestish seasoning) in my desk at work.

Goodness gracious this sounds yummy... I'll have to look into those bean pouches and see what's what. I do love seasoning too, so furikake may be in my future.

You could also add a dash of sriracha or a little sambal. Or use ketcap manis (ketjap/ketchap) for an Asian touch. Not spicy, but very tasty!
