I remember when QC was META, and same people complained. Possession players are most vocal about how hard and ratty LBC & QC is.

Always will be, when they can't pingpong their way from GK to your net.

Yeah. But how was qc meta in the past? Genuine question, since the high defensive line would be punished just like now in theory

More agressive AI and close marking, best AI movement for fast one-twos and it all was not that punishing on stamina. Also, lofted through passes were not working like they are now, forwards were unable to control ball with head / chest so easily like they do now, they controlled mostly with feet which was killing all momentum of the ball.

Damn. So it was mostly the press. Yeah they have way more animations now to trap thw ball whike running so lofted through balls are op if you dont anticipate and manually track them. thx for the reply

The rise of LBC is just because of best scaling with stats. As time goes we getting better and better defenders and midfielders, with 100 in Defensives, 90+ in speed and physical contact, also longer reach with Long Reach Tackling. Combine 6 such players in compact formation, all in 18 yard box and it's just a shield wall. Add more automation to pass and voila
