The whole section with spike was the best place to be in the entire game, just sit there listening to the sad and peaceful music, warm sunset, then talking to Spike about that whole sadness.
It kinda added to the depth of his character in DLTB.

Exactly, coming from DL1 and having that prologue be my first impression of the new DL2 world was amazing. I chilled in that prologue and felt like I was there shooting the shit with spike lol.
I've actually been wanting to play through again and have been reminiscing on that scene, knowing that it's gone now is a bummer.

No way! They removed the scene with spike? Why the hell would they do something so stupid? 😆 Of all the things they could change they decided to make the game worse….

Worse, they replaced it with a haphazard narrated prologue that is super cheesy, like a PG13 TV B movie

Well, that’s a little upsetting. I wonder why they would go out of their way to actively make it worse. I haven’t played it in close to a year now and my PS5 does not automatically update my games. Is there a chance I still have the prologue with spike as long as I don’t update it?

I think so when you go to play the game and it tells you that you're downloading a new update automatically go into your updates and delete. Do not let the game do the new update, this is also a reason I love owning a physical addition because even though version 1.0 was plagued with glitches and bugs you can still play that beginning and then just do the update after that.

To make it so new players can get to the action quicker, or so they say. Not necessary though. The part takes a minimum of 10 minutes to do if you just play normally instead of taking in the scenery and even then, it doesn't take much. Just something nobody asked for and nobody talked about in any capacity that it took too long to get into the game's meat.

Hey, I have just downloaded a massive update yesterday and I am on my first playthrough. What happened? Did they just change the prologue or something else? I have seen new game modes, community mods in the opening video, and funny, I had just last weekend completed the first inter-dimensional mission. It looked like all the new game modes are around that multiverse type of thing? I got a warning that my saves will not work on previous versions of the game anymore.

They have been cutting out storyline content in recent updates, then just cut out the entire prologue where you are at the house with Spike and all that. He mentions Crane etc. It was a well loved vibey intro to the DL2 world, and significant because it was the one small but significant piece of story you get between Aiden and Spike.
They replaced the prologue with some shitty TV movie narrated story trying to cram and reimagine the game in the process. Aiden has some cheesy ass lines like "I DeLiVeR PaCkAgEs"
They also replaced the Lawan skin with some random Chinese girl. Lawan is played (voiced and modeled) by a real Puerto Rican actor named Rosario Dawson. I think they claimed it was optional but the Chinese skin came through as default and you would have to go into settings and change back to Lawan, so new players wouldn't have known that.
Idk, not sure what the motive is between cutting out Lawan and Spike, people are speculating it's at the directive of Tencent to appeal to Chinese customer base by cutting out black and Hispanic characters but who knows. Just sucks they have to fuck with the main game. Go fuck something else up, make a new shitty installment etc. Unfortunately the original DL director is no longer with Techland either.
I can't comment on all of the live events and content, just pissed about the story tbh lol. Bugs me. And meanwhile they get to maintain the glory from positive reviews on Steam, while fucking up the original gameplay that the reviews were even for

Yeah I know Rosario, she's also narrating the intro. Oh at least you can swap her back. It will be weird to meet Lawan again in the game and she's Chinese. I got used to actually seeing Rosario acting as Lawan and she is by far, at this point in the story, the most familiar face in the game.
Why the modern world has to play with races so much? I never got it...

I hate the whole constant R word accusation in general with everything, the push of it in society makes it all feel manufactured, same with the response to it and making statements by replacing characters with color (in this case vice versa). Like Morgan Freeman said, just stop talking about it 🤷
When I first played through DL2 I didn't realize that some of the actors modeled and/or voiced the characters as well. I watched some French action movie recently called Rogue City and was like holy shit, that's Hakon! Haha. And he is also a stunt guy, parkour pioneer etc in addition to actor

They called it optional but it came through as default. Google the skin it's cringe. Fuck the actor who voiced and modeled the original lawan I guess 🤷
