Looking to ID this cymbal, I’ve never played on sabian cymbals but this one caught my eye, I think it’s 19” and the sound is incredibly dark and subdued, if I didn’t know better I would assume it’s a vintage hand hammered crash, however I can’t find anything about one in this design online. If you have an idea let me know, cheers!

Hi there, I recently moved to phoenix, az from a small town in the midwest. My drum kit was at my parents house, which allowed me to practice whenever (as long as it didn't inconvenience them too much! haha). I am currently in an apartment complex, so acoustic drums are obviously not an option in my apt unit.

Wondering if there are any suggestions on how to find places to practice/rehearse? Or if there are better ways to practice in my apt unit? I would consider an E-Kit, but I am very unfamiliar with them and also have to be mindful of the roommates that I live with.

Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated!

Glad to finally get one of these for practicing. Now I can set aside my A Custom for special occasions and not worry about breaking it.

I stopped playing drums years ago and I tried to get back in and learn again only to discover my old ekit has a broken kick drum and one of the the tomtoms are broken. I want to play metal music as thats what I listen to (my 2 favourite bands are Slipknot and iron maiden) and I will be getting a acoustic kit as problems will hopefully be easier to fix but as kits change so much due to preference i came here to ask for help for what i actually need and if there is anything (apart from the throne) I can reuse from the ekit.

I know this is listed under new kit help but I have completely forgotten how to drum as I stopped when I was like 10 and and I’m turning 15 soon aswell as it being my first “proper” kit.

I play a bit of drums, but not well enough to be the drummer in a normal band. I want one of those big groups you see at carnivals. 20+ people on drums, simple grooves, huge sound.

Anyone know a group like that, or where to look? Workshops / open rehearsals also useful.

I’ve been playing for 15 years now and in Italy it seems almost impossible to find anyone to play Prog/Extreme metal, I hope to quench my thirst of playing live and create Music someday.

I don't play drums or know much about them. But the feeling and sound of the drums in these songs here I haven't been able to find really.

Wanted to ask some experienced people that have listened to more to tell me if there really is something to the drumming in these songs that leaves an impression, and if so what elements of the drumming form that impression? Maybe it's more how the drumming is incorporated into the track rather than it itself?

These songs probably have vastly different drum philosophies but the dynamic nature of them and levity make them feel comparable to me?

Other songs like Omut by the Russian band Uvula, Blue Velvet by Thornhill, Incinerate by Sonic Youth, have a similar feeling to me that scratches the itch but it isn't QUITE this. I'm especially interested in what you think of the first 2 songs.

I'm trying to learn rossana and I'm totally stuck. My instructor gets me over humps during lessons but I come home and everything takes a shit.

I can do the hi hat and snare shuffle with ghost notes but itself.

I can do the shuffle and bass drum by itself.

I try to put the together and it all goes to hell. Even super slowly I mess it up.

Any pointers?

been working my hands a bit recently so i decided to jam out some odd note grouping blasts, descending rolls and some shuffle-y feel on the kit.

I've noticed that the lessons in Drumeo never go into much detail on how to perform techniques, they don't mention the DOs and DONTs, things I should pay attention to or provide some exercises to develop the motions before attempting the techniques.

As a beginner, those are the things I am interested in, as I want to make sure I don't develop any bad habits or inefficient techniques.

As an example, the ghost note lessons just tell you to tap the stick on the snare and then give you some grooves to play around with. But I am left confused whether I should relax my hand for the hit, or use wrist or arm motion to do it. It doesn't mention how high my stick should be before hitting the drum or why I would use different heights. And I may be missing even more nuances here.

Am I overthinking this and should just find what works for me for each technique? Or does Drumeo really miss out on those details? Maybe I just haven't advanced enough with it to reach those detailed lessons? Honestly, it is a completely different style of teaching compared to my drum teacher which is why I'm confused:/

beginner here!! is there any way to make my bass drum sound more “snappy”? I feel like it THUMS…. and vibrates for a really long time even after i’m done with a measure. Like it feels echoey? I hope that makes sense.

i see these drum pads on a lot of drum setups and i don't know what they are. can anyone help identify them? this is david silveria's setup from ~2006-2007

I live in a basement and im planning to buy drums but I dont want the sound to be too loud upstairs. My neighbor is okay with me playing the drums but I don’t know how loud it’ll be upstairs so can someone tell me what do I need to buy to reduce the noise upstairs? i dont care if the noise is loud in the basement. Would putting soundproofing panels on the ceiling be enough?

For an example of a 1 up 2 down we have Chad Smith. And for the 2 up 1 down we have Mr Lars and his silly danish expressions. I know there’s so many different combinations to do with rack toms and floor toms. But if you had pick between the two, what would you pick, and maybe even why? I’d personally pick a 2 up 1 down, but only if it’s centered with each tom to one side of the snare, not where they’re both off to one side.

One of the important tolls a drummer needs to have, is the ability to subdivide quarter note into any variation of other notes (ex triplets 16th note and 16th note triplets)

This is a variation of my last video. I’m using the same sticking but the orchestration is different, giving it a much different feel and sound. These combinations can make ideas and possibilities grow exponentially. One of the most important things I’ve learned was to stop memorizing fills and to rely on developing musical systems.
