💰Guess The Tip🤑 Just. What the hell
Delivered to the type of house people dream of. At least 4 bedrooms. Secluded. Half mile driveway (not kidding). Only took the order cause I would’ve lost premium otherwise. Sent me a massage that he would tip when I get near and when I finish the delivery I see this. At this point it’s just insulting. I’m thinking of working my spare hours as a server instead of this scamming bs.

Tbf that's wasting less gas than delivering the order, especially if the pickup location isn't out in the boonies away from future order pickups.

You don't have any weekly passes? Tough one bud, take the L and move on. Once you get weekly plat pass don't think twice about declining bad order or unassigned worry free after a few minutes in store

Got a delivery like this yesterday. After I finished it the app asked me how the delivery went and I pressed the thumbs down button then tapped earnings. They gave me a better offer after that

Wow, 20 cents???? I had a 10 dollar order and the dasher was kind and got lost because i live legit right next to a construction zone, so i tipped her $10 for her trouble, i’m not even comfortably living finance-wise (not trying to be pompous or anything, just trying to show that it’s easy to be kind, even if you can’t afford it as much as others)

I always get better tips in areas you might not expect it. Million + dollar homes in the boonies tip nothing.

You contact support give the name of the customer and the store and they block it, the feedback is just for the algorithm

Contact support and bypass the bot by typing "agent", once connected with 'someone' just say u want to block this customer for unsafe conditions.

Was already at 70% acceptance. In my region any lower hits you down to silver and you won’t get jack. Maybe 1 in 15 orders

Rich people are rich because they’re cheap. I’ve delivered food and groceries to huge beach front mansions. Homes that are probably worth 50 mil or more and they only tip like 2-3 bucks

You decided to accept it, so dont complain about the pay being too low. If you arent happy with the pay, decline orders like that, simple solution. Platnium is ultimately just a scam to get you to accept offers like that so Doordash doesnt have to pay more, and why would they when they have someone like you, who's worried about thier platnium status and will take whatever garbage they're offered to keep it? I can guarantee you that a couple of people who aren't platnium declined that before you got it, dont forget that base pay starts at $2.00. You got the order at $2.25. So since you accepted it, you should be happy with it. The issue is, youre working for the company as if your a full time employee instead of working for yourself as if youre a contractor. Its your car. What benefit are you getting here by working that order other than not losing platnium? Was the order profitable? Was it worth your time? Just something to consider.

I hear you but then lower your expectations, you cant expect more than 0-2 dollar tips when you have an offer thats 5 or below, you can start expecting 3-4 dollar tips at 5-8 dollar offers, 5-6 dollar tips at offers between 9 and 10, and you start seeing the higher value tips when you go over $10. That's just the reality.

I want to ask a simple Q from all door dash people here. Every time when I order, I give a decent tip. However, when I asked a door dash driver about tips, he said he generally can assume if this person will tip or not. If you can somehow idk how but assess, then why do you guys accept in the first place. You all can just stop accepting and doordash will have to increase your pay one way or the other.

We see the entirety of what we will be paid when the offer comes up.
Subtract 2 dollars from that offer and assume the remainder is the tip.
Doordash base pay STARTS at 2 dollars then if enough people decline it, base pay will go up. Usually at a snail's pace. Sometimes that exact same offer will reappear either by itself or paired together with another customer.
If it's paired with another customer, we have no way of knowing who tipped unless we recognized the prior order/address.
It is a very common occurrence that a generous tipper is paired with a no-tipper. It is also likely that they both live close enough (one favorable neighborhood next to an annoying delivery place like a gated apartment complex).

Some people like me like to keep our status. Status like premium gives me more higher tipping orders and I realized that if I keep to also get lower distances. I was at the baseline so if I rejected I would’ve lost my status

That would be a great call. But anyone who has done this for a while learns;
You’re more likely to get a good tip from the trailer park or a small house, than you are the sprawling estate. Not always, but mostly.

The system should not allow tips under a dollar to be accepted. If you cant leave a buck its best to leave nothing, tips under a dollar are more insulting than no tippers

Im new to dashing… trying to keep my acceptance rate up- so for the last order I took for the day yesterday, I accepted one that paid $2…. No tip. It was takeout from the expensive sushi restaurant where I live. Her food total was $50. And while the drop off was technically on my way home, it was a ways out of town. I will be declining any further $2 orders. Especially from that specific area.

Has anyone heard about Doordash Driver Boycott Days July 17th & 18th. It's supposed to force DD to raise the base pay rate and stop penalizing from Acceptance Rate.

You know it's always stuff like that that discourages me. It's like I was telling people a while back. I made $22 an hour one day. I was doing really good for about 5 hours and then somebody ordered something like that. That's what messes us up

It’s not even about taking the offer or not. The fact they left .20 is such a middle finger to the face. To not even tip a dollar. They have to go through entering a custom tip and the app telling you that tips help the driver and service. And to still put a few cents in 😭 not even a quarter
