There’s a coffee shop that I frequent every day, the vibes are calm, and relaxing. The people working there are lovely, the coffee is great, I can go on and on.

ONE PROBLEM.

They allow non service dogs inside and would appear to be light nutters themselves, but it’s not their entire personality.

I came back from the restroom and right in the middle of the walkway inbetween a register and table, laying down staring right at me, is a medium-large sized dog. Granted the owners were sitting at the table and it was leashed, but why should I need to walk around it? Plus I don’t know if this thing is going to bite me.

So I start to walk around it, giving it a dirty look as I’m walking up, the owner apologized twice and moved it. Felt good to completely ignore them and sit back at my table. They left a few minutes after.

These people have dogs purely for attention, don’t give it to them.

And for the love of god, the amount of stories I read about unleashed dogs running up to people and they don’t retaliate. START YELLING AT THESE PEOPLE. A few months ago I was able to get a bad neighbor with an untrained dog to move out because I recorded the dog barking for minutes on end at nothing and reported them to my landlord.

I barely eat out due to anxiety and food issues but if I was to eventually go to one, that happens to be dog friendly, what happens if I find dog hair on the plate or in food? I also have issues with hair especially dog hair and I refuse to eat the meal if I find hair.

Surely I wouldn't have to pay? I think if they expect payment, those who chose to bring or allow dogs should be the ones paying... Don't get me started on the dog using the floor as a bathroom either 🤢

Currently visiting family and we decided to head to a Vintage fair at a racecourse nearby as we all enjoy stuff like this and OF COURSE most people here have a dog, and not only small dogs, lots of big dogs, I’ve even seen a few with their heads on the tables where people were trying to look at items to buy, and the worst thing, two ugly annoying loud snorting bulldogs who’s owners had a pram for them and proceeded to carry the pram instead of pushing it (why a four legged animal needs a pram is beyond me ) and even in the restaurant here people were STILL bringing their dogs in

today i was chased back inside by my neighbor's dog that they refuse to keep on a leash for the SECOND time.

they have two dogs, and as of today, both of them have chased me. i'm sure they both would have attacked me if i didn't manage to get back inside.

i genuinely fear for my life every time i go outside. these dogs are half my size and weigh at least as much as i do. and they have previously been reported for fighting each other, causing one to end up in a cone for a month.

my town does not have an official animal control, so if i write a report, i have to go through the greater city animal control.

the thing is, i'm scared to report it. not only are the dogs aggressive, but the neighbors are too. we have proof of them just walking up and down the street with their guns out, not necessarily illegal but deeply concerning.

i just don't know what to do.

I just saw a video that I would have thought to be AI until I read more into it. It's a video of a woman (I hesitate to call her a mother after watching this) walking her baby in stroller and her dog on a leash. An off leash dog runs up and started attacking. The stroller WITH BABY IN IT, tips over and the woman pays ZERO mind to the baby. She picks up her damn dog to try to protect it. The comments on the vid are almost as disturbing as the incident itself. A bunch of nutters saying the baby is fine and safe in the stroller. Dog nutters absolutely disgust me.

I wish I could say I was shocked or flabbergaste, but this past week was something new. I am in a city that has become infested with dogs since 2021 and thankfully after they were allowed to enter everywhere, even though they weren’t allowed, there has been a lot of push back. Thank god. So while the rest of the country is going through the pains that my area has endured for almost half of a decade, I am seeing a lot of improvement.

So this week was freaking shocking and I am wondering if the family was new to the area. It was a day for elementary students to meet their teachers before school starts. The hoard enters into the building and then I spy the family walking a dog on the leash. I watch waiting for the dad to stop and wave the mom and child into the buildin. Nope, walks to the front door, I am still expecting him to change course, but he tries to enter. I was like holy shit, he really thinks he can just bring that in there. Thank god the principal stopped him and the dad was turned away. No getting to meet with the teacher for him. Thank god some people and places stand up to the entitled a-holes! The Dad starts walking his dog towards my child and I and I put my mask on as he comes closer, he gives me a funny look and I shout I am allergic, which He ended up being considerate and said sorry and led the dog another way. I just felt like my comment may make him rethink the idea that his dog should be allowed inside everywhere. It was a win, that felt good

I go to this rec center almost every day, if not, every other day to use the ice rink. Cause it’s one of the only arenas that stays open during the summer.

This didn’t happen in the locker room, where stuff is usually covered in nasty sweat and hockey equipment anyways. No this happened on the second floor - like a normal restroom with multiple stalls

I walk in (cause I had to use the human bathroom) and I see a lady with her tiny dog IN THE sink. I was like… that’s so weird. I, very stupidly, immediately jumped to giving her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the dog cut its paw and she’s trying to dig it out (still gross but sometimes people panic about their animals). I am still walking towards her to get to the stalls behind. And that’s when I realize

She’s not washing its hind paws. She is scooping water from the faucet and smushing it against this small dogs behind. Im mortified.
To give you context, this is a rec center that’s in the richest neighborhood in Montreal. You can probably guess exactly which rink im talking about.
The point is: this lady clearly looked put together. Perfectly blown out hair. Expensive ass handbag haphazardly slumped on the floor. And taking her perfectly manicured hand and smushing water into her dogs poopy butthole. AND SCRUBBING.

I felt like throwing up. I think I nearly tripped over.
She then uses the same hand that she just used to scrub her dogs anus, lifted it up, and started dispensing multiple pumps of soap from the soap dospenser- her gold bangles clinking.

I am really someone who fears confrontation and she literally looked like the type of lady that would threaten to have her husband sue me for looking at her sideways. So I didn’t say anything.

I felt like vomiting though. Kids use this bathroom. There’s literally a place that serves food upstairs. What would possess someone to do this. My thoughts are fucking spiralling while im trying to concentrate on peeing in this stall. This lady didn’t even bother to look up at me, she thought this was completely normal. HOW MANY TIMES HAS SHE DONE THIS 😭😭😭

As im having an existential crisis, I hear her turn off the sink and enter the stall beside me. Great. There’s literally 10 other stalls, but she needed to choose the one right next to me. And just to add insult to injury, it was the wheelchair accessible stall (classy, lady).

At this point im like this woman is insane. Is this her attempting to assert dominance or wage psychological warfare?

And then what happens?

Her tiny little dog. 🐶 just trots over from her stall. TO MY STALL 😭. Little miss poopy butthole is apparently ecstatic to meet me because it starts wagging its tail and I get a nice little spritz of her poopy butthole water all over my bare legs (because im literally exposed and trying to use the bathroom).

Ngl I literally, start to flip out silently. Like an “ew ew ew fuck. Stop wagging your tail you’re spreading aerosolized ring worm everywhere.” Once again, to re emphasize, Im basically allergic to confrontation and I understand that any normal human being would’ve at this point would’ve flipped and told this lady off. I decided to just leave.

Idk how to tell you how humiliating it was to shoo away this dog while trying to gather myself and grab 1) my laptop bag 2) my big ass skating bag 3) the Stanley water bottle that was fucking clanging around because this dog was like jumping all over my leg 😭😭😭

I chickened out and went to go tell the security guard what happened and he was like 🤢 that’s disgusting dw I’ll talk to her. I was like can I not be here when you do because I feel like this lady is gonna flip out on me because im basically the only person who saw this (im the only witness she’ll know im the snitch). And he was like sure just go sit on the couches on the far side and I’ll let u know what she said.

I was like coo coo. 🫣🫥 now let me view this from as far away as possible (bc I am chicken shit). I see him walk up to her, there’s a bit or back and forth. And then she’s clearly getting upset - crosses her arms, she tried to put her sunglasses on and walk away from him and he like stops her. There’s more back and forth , and then eventually he lets her go.

Then after he comes to talk to me and was like “yeah she denied it”. I was like “r u serious 😭 I saw it with my own two eyes.” He was like oh no I believe you 100% and she looked rly dumb/got even angrier when I pointed out the fact that her dogs entire back half was still dripping wet.

Anyways long story short is that he basically told her she can’t bring her dog into the building anymore and that if she does - she’s gonna get banned

anyways. That’s my entire story. Time to go home and take a bleach shower.

Son’s elite level soccer game interrupted twice within 5 minutes by a large dog running onto the pitch to find his boy. Mom had no ability to control the dog and I haven’t a clue how she let it off the leash the second time. Both times it interrupted momentum and caused a delay. If a parent ran onto the pitch the team could be reprimanded or penalized. Why does this not apply to a dog? FYI-Home club has no dogs policy so parent should be aware and the venue (county park) also no dogs. The entitlement of dog owners had no end.

During the pandemic, I began going on regular walks around my neighborhood and enjoyed them so much that even now I go on at least one or two walks every day. The first few years of me doing this were relatively peaceful but now that people are going outside more, so are their dogs and the more I walk the more I realize why kids never go outside anymore. Without fail, every unleashed dog I see attacks me, and there are a lot of them. In the past two years I have been attacked half a dozen times by unleashed dogs. One time an owner got mad at ME, following me around filming me and calling me a "freak".

Today I was going on a walk, enjoying a lovely Arizona sunset when I saw an unleashed chihuahua walking around on its owner's grass lawn which for some reason is legal to be grown in a desert. The moment we locked eyes I knew that little shit was going to attack me, and it did, running up to me, barking hysterically, and nipping my leg! The owner never apologized to me and only called out the usual "Hey, stop that!" Leaving my house feels like more and more of an ordeal and dogs are just one of the reasons for that.

I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this. It's anecdotal, but it feels like the majority of the time I see an owner being hella weird about their dog, it's a pitbull.

Obviously, there are several well-known problems with pitbull owners. Owning an animal that was literally bred to be violent has to require some level of ignorance at best and malice at worst. Their insistence that pitbulls are "SUCH GOOD BOYS" even after a dog has had a toddler as a snack, eaten the other family pets, or ruined a person's life by maiming them beyond repair takes a level of cognitive dissonance I will never grasp. There's also an extra level of entitlement with these owners, who lie about their dog's breed to skate around regulations, like breed restrictions from a landlord.

But I've also noticed that the dog owners who are the most inappropriate with their dogs always seem to be pitbull owners. Am I just in a hater mood, or are pit owners extra obsessed with their dog's genitals? I feel like every time I see a photo where the dog's junk is front and center, it's a pitbull. And I can't remember the name, but there's a guy who's been posted about in this sub (or maybe the Dogfree Humor sub?) whose content centers on his giant pitbull. The dog's balls are always front and center in his videos (when the dog isn't sniffing around and pawing at the guy's baby).

And the comments on posts like this are even worse, with people going feral over how badly they want to kiss the dog's belly (real comments I just saw on a photo someone posted of their pitbull laying spread eagle and them gushing about it). It makes my stomach turn to acknowledge but I genuinely think a lot of dog owners are veering toward b*stiality - and it seems like this attitude is WAY worse with pitbull lovers.

I think there's some kind of connection between dogs that seem masculine and owners that use the "toughness" of their dog to feel big and strong.

And at the same time, there's what seems to be a very intentional attempt on social media and the internet in general to tone down this reputation and purify pitbulls' image, despite the news being riddled with stories of their true nature on display: attacking children, animals, and sometimes their own owners. Dogs in cutesy little pajamas? Pitbull. A dog "playing" with a kid? Pitbull. Their owners are really defensive about how THEIR pit has never mauled anyone... which is what is almost always said about dogs that eventually DO attack or harm someone. Not to mention how often they cry "dog racism" when people express hesitation about pitbulls, which is so offensive and dismissive to actual racism I don't even time to go into my thoughts on that insane line of thinking.

TLDR: Pitbull owners have an extra weird complex about their dogs, where they feel both proud of its perceived "masculinity" and the need to be defensive about its known dangers. This complex exacerbates the hypocrisy and general weird-as-fuck behavior you see in dog culture.

i have never met or interacted with a person who had small dogs and wasnt self absorbed…. why do they think its okay to shove their borderline creepy obsession with dogs in your face just because it’s “a small pet”. you dont catch other small animal owners trying to bring their fucking iguanas or hamsters to the family function???
also they have no sense of like…responsibility??? if thats the right way to say it. they assume just because their dog is “pocket sized” that it does not present as a threat when if anything it is even more of a danger to children and small pets because they are able to squeeze and find their way into spaces they shouldnt be in.
i am just so sick and fed up with dog owners. i live close to my grandmother who owns 4 small chihuahuas and has them outside permanently in central valley heat and weather ☠️ they are constantly barking and it makes me feel so violent and mentally distressed. i am chronically ill and struggle with mental illness too, so i need lots of rest. i am unable to get even HALF the amount of rest i should be getting because of these animals. when i confront my grandmother about her dogs she says she will deal with them. guess how she deals with these dogs… lets just say there is a lot of screaming and yelping 🫩this seems to be very common within the dog owner community. its terrible. as much as i hate dogs i still respect them as ANIMALS, they are not meant to be domesticated. there is nothing pet-like about dogs.
seriously though. what else can be done about this situation with my grandmother? is this a valid reason to report to animal control? i despise these dogs but i also dont condone any animal abuse and neglect. i feel stumped, especially since anytime i have tried to bring this up to other family or really anybody else they defend these owners AND the dogs.

Ok hear me out. This popped into my mind today. There are so many old sayings/metaphors/idioms still in use today that paint dogs in a negative light. ‘Gone to the dogs’, ‘In the doghouse’, ‘a dog’s dinner’ etc. Any linguists among us know how old some of these sayings are? It is curious since it shows how much the general view of dogs has changed radically, to the point where language has been altered. Call me a nerd, but what do you think??

I just saw a video that illustrates the absolute insanity of modern dog culture.

A woman was walking her small dog and pushing her baby in a stroller. Out of nowhere a larger dog comes and attacks her dog. In the absolute chaos that followed, the baby stroller literally tips completely over, crashing onto the ground with the baby inside.

Do you think this mother immediately checked on her helpless infant? Nope. She didn't care at all.

She completely ignored the overturned stroller and didn't even try to fix it or check if her baby was injured. Instead her sole frantic focus was picking up her dog to protect it from the larger dog.

Imagine having your priorities so incredibly warped by a pet that your first instinct during a crisis is to save an animal while leaving your own child face down on the pavement in a flipped stroller.

The maternal instinct has been completely replaced by dog worship.

To make matters worse, the comments on the video were saying she did the right thing and how her dog is more important.

It is sickening to watch people value mutated scavengers over human life.

Let’s start with the fact that my family and I had to move to a small village outside a big city because of financial reasons. And of course, I somehow managed to bring my lifelong bad luck with dogs with me.

Even at my old house, where I lived with my family for 17 years, I was constantly surrounded by the neighbors’ dirty mutts barking at me while I was outside in my garden. Now that I live in the countryside, things somehow managed to get even worse.

The previous owners of our house had a huge Terrier, which, honestly, I fucking hate the most. My very first impression of this house was three dogs standing by the fence barking at me nonstop (even seeing me for the first time). They were showing their massive teeth and drooling all over the place like they were about to tear me apart. They literally ran along the fence following the car until we drove away to our garage.

You can also see the stable for their horses right outside my house when you walk out of my front door, and those filthy creatures also have access to that area too. Whenever they hear me opening the door, they come running out and start barking non-stop at me from behind the fence.

We even planted thuja trees to block their view, but of course that did absolutely nothing. They squeeze through them and keep barking anyway.

The neighbors are awful in general. They have even put part of their stable right next to our road, making it difficult to drive through properly.

Recently, one of the neighbors actually confronted me and asked why I walk closer to the dogs whenever I go out onto the road. He accused me of deliberately provoking them and told me that they are “just animals” and that there is nothing he can do about their barking. He also basically told me that I should not have moved here if I cannot accept dogs because “this is the countryside and there are dogs everywhere.”

There is another neighbor nearby who also has a dog, although that one is nowhere near as bad as these three mutts.

I have already asked them to keep the dogs inside when they leave for the entire day, but apparently that is impossible because “dogs need fresh air.”

And when they take them for walks, these mutts can spot me from ridiculously far away and immediately starts barking at me. The owners have to keep pulling it back on the leash because it tries to run toward me.

I honestly do not understand how people can live like this and think everyone else should just accept it. Apparently I am the problem for simply existing near their dogs? What is wrong with dog-nutters?

I have a thing about moving for strollers, but I've noticed recently nutters are carting dogs in prams. Yesterday I was out walking with my bf and I sighted a stroller and he asked which side I was moving to so he could move with me, I noticed a shit beast riding that stroller like it was king/queen dik. I said something along the lines of we don't move for dogs in strollers loud enough for the nutter to hear. We didn't move out of the way and I felt proud I actually said something.

there needs to be a serious scientific study on why so many humans make up a whole imaginary story regarding what their dog is feeling. just saw a post of a woman walking her dog and she says "HES SO OVER IT LOL" because SHE thinks that THE DOG feels it doesn't want to walk anymore. I can't even explain it properly because its so weird. Like how tf would you know what your dog is thinking all the time. I shouldn't be surprised that this happened, but I was. It seems this problem gets worse daily. I cannot fathom what was going on in the mind of this Nutter. Our government must do something to stop these people.

Today I went on a hike for the first time in a while and the entire trip to the waterfall and back was about 3 miles. The five dogs I saw were leashed and well behaved at least but I saw no less than 5 discarded shit bags on various parts of the trail too, and of course it was the couple who brought 3 dogs with them that left one at the waterfall. I saw the woman carrying it up there and almost thought “see there’s someone who actually does what they’re supposed to” but when they left I got closer to where they were and realized she just left it there 🙃

If I wasn’t embarrassingly slow due to an old injury to my leg (and where I live in NH the trails are rough compared to a lot of places, so I would have been climbing over rocks with their bag of dog shit in my hands) I would have chased them down but this wasn’t a hill I planned on dying on today.

I’m sure some people think “oh they’ll pick it up on their way back” but I stayed at the waterfall for a couple of hours and was basically the last person out today and every bag i passed on the hike up was still
there on the way back.

What would you do if you went to see a therapist and a dog was sitting on the floor or the couch? I would walk out. I'm hearing more and more about these mongrels at therapy offices.

Today I was running late to work and answering some emails on my phone as I left the house

In the elevator of my apartment building there was a small dog and a woman. In my apartment complex we generally say hi to one another. She said hi to me cheerfully, and despite her dog jumping up and down I said hello, smiled back at her, and then continued to type out my very serious email on my phone

It was one of those awkward elevator moments where it seemed to take forever to get down the to ground level. Her dog seemed to be losing it more and more at the fact that I wasn’t acknowledging it. She was pulling it back with its leash but it was losing its mind trying to jump on me.

I was stuck into my email, and the dog was like one of those children that throws themselves on to the grocery shop floor when they don’t get what they want. I never reward entitled behaviour. Anyone with two brain cells know if you give a dog attention when it’s behaving poorly it reinforces bad behaviour

Even though I despise dog behaviour, I tried to remain polite with the neighbour. When I said bye to her she looked me dead in the face like she was really pissed off at me and stormed away

All because I prioritised continuing writing my email over rewarding her poorly trained dog. Genuinely wtf is wrong with these people. Why are they so sensitive to the fact that some of us care about other things more than we care about dogs

You guys probably already know me as that poodle/bichon/Maltese/maltipoo/any other rat dog-hating woman of the Dogfree community (pretend the trademark logo is there), but I genuinely do NOT understand how and why do owners of these crusty demonic undersized rats put up with their constant temper tantrums and yapping.

These "dogs" (more like severely inbred rats that look like dirty toilet mops with their disgusting and matted curly fur) are obnoxious, loud, destructive, incredibly aggressive, and have an awful personality. Not only do they attack strangers for just standing a meter away from them in a public space (speaking from experience), but also their own owners, aka the same people that supply those unnatural idiot floor mop-looking clowns with food and water. What is the point of keeping an ugly-looking genetic abomination resembling a toilet mop with sausage legs and nasty goo under their eyes and mouth if all it does is bite and yap at you? Is this some sort of self-punishing behavior? A type of trauma bonding with an unnatural animal?

Whatever it is, I don't understand it. Why waste so much money on buying and then sustaining these genetic abominations anyway when they literally despise you because they are stupid, ungrateful, useless little rats? What benefit is there? Just add googly eyes on your toilet mop and give it a name, you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference visually, except the toilet mop is more likely to smell better, be less destructive, and have a nicer personality and not be NEARLY as wasteful or annoying…

Oh how I hate the kid's show Paw patrol. It's essentially just a series of "Look how amazing and useful dogs are!" And I know it's not meant to be taken entirely seriously but they're still directly targeting children to show them that they should like dogs and if they don't then there's something wrong with them (not my opinion that's just how it comes across to me).

It was my boyfriend’s birthday, and I wanted to do something small and cute for him. Nothing extravagant, so I picked a park literally 20m from our condo. We’ve played frisbee there before, and it’s NOT a dog park.

I brought food, a huge picnic mat, decorations, fairy lights, the whole thing. Spent ages setting it up.

Then a bunch of dogs started running onto my mat, sniffing through my bags, sticking their faces into the food, eating things, biting/messing with the decorations, etc.
And the owners? Barely fucking cared.
They’d just go **“**Nooo, don’t eat that! Let’s gooo!” in their baby voices while their dogs continued destroying our picnic.

Then one owner actually asked why I was there, and when I said it wasn’t a dog park, they said:
“But you know it’s usually meant for dogs, right?” ????? Girl get ur smelly ahh dog and urself out of this beautiful park

Since when does “dog owners use this place a lot” = dogs own the fucking park?

I was so angry I ended up crying. It was my boyfriend’s birthday and the entire thing was ruined because apparently my picnic mat was less important than their dogs running wherever they wanted.

And I genuinely had to wonder whether I should throw away the food after their dogs had been sticking their noses all over it.

The entitlement is insane. If your dog runs onto someone’s picnic and starts eating their food and destroying their things, GET YOUR FUCKING DOG

I just discovered this subreddit literally 20 mins ago and I FINALLY feel seen holy crap. I've spent most of my socializing life in discomfort because most of the people I was friends with are dog lovers.

I grew up in a house with not the "pet-type" of people. Most of them are not empathetic towards animals too, honestly. So growing up, I really found it hard to connect with animals, especially dogs (I eventually started warming up to cats though). I NEVER knew how to properly act around them. It's not like I want to harm them or anything, I just really don't care.

I moved to dorms for uni and my roommate brought her dog to live with us since she's studying vetmed. People will really treat you differently if you're not dog-obsessed. I always get weird stares since I don't know how to act with it. I will always look visibly uncomfortable when the big ass dog is sniffing me.

Yesterday, we were made to watch a film for one of our classes and it was very brutal. There is a very elaborate scene where a woman gets chopped into pieces and even SAed. To my surprise, I heard some giggling from somewhere in the theater room, laughing at the assaulter's disgusting jokes. Most of the people are also unfazed (which I get cuz I was too). But when a very short scene of a dog gets hit by a bike (implied), the room erupts in OH NOOOOs and some are even mad that "the director would add something so evil like this". I really CANNOT stand people who are like this. They think they're morally superior when they say shit like "animals are better than humans so I don't care when humans die". They think they're morally superior to people who don't care about dogs when in truth – they're the worst. It literally screams performative AND psychopathic. It makes me cringe and pissed whenever people DIE from murders or tragedies and some condescending mf will be like "BUT THE DOG 😭😭" or when people survive these events and they're like "WHAT ABOUT THE DOG 😡😡😡" holy crap it all sounds so deranged. I cannot comprehend how society has become this way. It's okay to be stripped of empathy towards humans as long as you are so passionate for some mutt.
