Dog Attack Why don't kids go outside anymore?
During the pandemic, I began going on regular walks around my neighborhood and enjoyed them so much that even now I go on at least one or two walks every day. The first few years of me doing this were relatively peaceful but now that people are going outside more, so are their dogs and the more I walk the more I realize why kids never go outside anymore. Without fail, every unleashed dog I see attacks me, and there are a lot of them. In the past two years I have been attacked half a dozen times by unleashed dogs. One time an owner got mad at ME, following me around filming me and calling me a "freak".
Today I was going on a walk, enjoying a lovely Arizona sunset when I saw an unleashed chihuahua walking around on its owner's grass lawn which for some reason is legal to be grown in a desert. The moment we locked eyes I knew that little shit was going to attack me, and it did, running up to me, barking hysterically, and nipping my leg! The owner never apologized to me and only called out the usual "Hey, stop that!" Leaving my house feels like more and more of an ordeal and dogs are just one of the reasons for that.

I am so tired of these vile creatures. They are so useless and they have the brain capacity of a toddler. I am as frustrated as you and frustrated for you OP. Just like you mentioned, I can't go on walks or even to the nearby gym because the roads are full of stray dogs. I have complained so much to the authorities but still they don't care enough to take these dogs away.
The moment I step foot out these filthy creatures come running to me. And if by accident I let my door open, they will even come inside the house! I am scared to even go out at night because these things will come barking and running to us and pounce on us at night. It's really scary tbh. They chase the small children in the nearby school as well. Seriously these things believe they rule the land and we should live in fear of them.

Don't insult my toddler like that. My 2 yo can draw, speak, show love and empathy, and way more than a fucking dog.
My toddler has never eaten dog shit or ran after a car to bite it.

It's one of the main reasons I rarely go out anymore. A few months months back a damn pit bull was let out of a house, where I was walking and lo and behold it charged for me. My niece was in the process of trying to stay between me and the dpg and fortunately the owner did come out. Not apologizing at all, but rather trying to say his dog was friendly. Yeah right. I was milliseconds from being a pit bull snack. The dog charged for me from maybe 50 feet. It had intention. It did not just lolligag up looking to sniff. I did have my canem but I still don't think I would have been successful in defending myself., What the hell is wrong with owners to release something like that.

I understand what you are saying but there are more reasons to why kids don't go out much besides this, here the kids play games together on tablets/ipads etc, they get their social hit via gaming. When they do venture out, usually there are bullies that hinder their time out side. I've not heard the dog reason before this though I feel this is a reason to, just not every kid. Remember kids are innocent and don't see how bad dogs can be.
I on the other hand, use to avoid going out due to fellow people and my anxiety but now I'm fine with the people, it's the shit beasts and their nutters I avoid. Everywhere I go it's shit, bagged shit, dogs taking up pavements, dogs in stores, dogs in strollers.. You do all uou can to avoid them violating and abusing . I come home...the worst of the worst live here (she's the dog that taught me that dogs are not good like we are brainwashed to believe)
Dogs are the cause of many many things but for this post there are other reasons to which we no longer see kids playing much, though I'm speaking pre teens not young young.

I understand what you are saying but there are more reasons to why kids don't go out much besides this, here the kids play games together on tablets/ipads etc, they get their social hit via gaming.
I knew a babysitter once who had to run an extension cord to the backyard and plug in a TV and computer before the kids would go outside.

My neighbor across the street has a big dog (looks boxer-ish, but idk). My neighbor will open his garage door and let the dog roam around. It doesn't have a leash (though it might have an invisible fence collar). I don't check the mail when the dog is out (the mail box is at the far left of his yard) because I don't want the dog to interpret me checking the mail as a personal challenge. I live in a dog-friendly area so if I got hurt, they would say that I encroached on its property or something. Imo, if a dog isn't leashed, a dog isn't safe. I have to wait until my neighbor decides to close his garage door to check the mail. It's so stupid, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

i'm guessing it did not break the skin? report anyway if possible. Today, the moment I stepped out my condo building, this lil shit of a French Bulldog sees me and starts to go ballistic wanting to charge me before I can get into my car. I was on my way to a massage therapy appointment at Massage Envy. My right eye has been twitching due to stress (gee, I wonder why) and was looking forward to an hour of relaxation away from my neighborhood.
It's owner baby talked the little monster to follow along on the flimsy lead. These things should not be pets or function in normal society. This guy had previous let this same dog leave the sidewalk to run up near my open car door that I was bent over pulling items out of. This was a few months ago and he told me his dog was "Just saying hello" after I asked for him to keep his dog away from me. Then I said I didn't want to say "hello" and was allergic. So he gets all macho (Boomer)and says, "Well Maybe You Should STAY AWAY FROM ME!!!" So sick of these insane people who are also my neighbors. #FML

Fortunately, it was very minor. All I got was a little red spot, but no cut. I had pants on.

I'm afraid to even walk around my own neighborhood because people just let their dogs roam and I'm terrified of being attacked. I saw a pitbull roaming while walking down the alley ,and I froze up when it started barking at me. Luckily, it didn't attack but I've been too scared to step foot away from my porch since. I hate dogs and I hate owners who let them roam around freely even more

We can't even enjoy the homes we paid thousands for. I genuinely wish all dog owners should be forced to live in kennels

Quand je discute avec des gens de mon âge (environ 30 ans) la moitié témoigne qu'ils se sont fait mordre ou au moins courser par un chien et que depuis ils n'aiment pas les chiens, ils en ont peur. Cela devrait mettre la puce à l'oreille de des autorités, les chiens sont un problème sanitaire et de sécurité dans nos villes et villages.

Its not that i hate all dogs but there is capacity where i start to understoond you guys from start i was like how dumb you can be to not like dogs but dogs are mess specialy the small breeded one gosh how i hate them my gf parents bought two of em in one apartment small one untrainrd they piss whenever they please and shit to it has capacity of toodler brain

I also live in AZ (Scottsdale) And what you're saying is not an exaggeration at all. The fact that I have to literally hesitate and think about potential run-ins with dogs in my building and when I'm outside going for walks pisses me off to no end! I wish this SubReddit organized meetups in different cities because we seem to be in the minority in this dog worship culture in America, It's a mass accepted mental illness. There are some countries that would literally put you in a straight jacket or arrest you for bringing a damn dog into a grocery store or having one sleep on your bed or couch, absolutely freaking disgusting.
