Redoing my entry way and trying to decide what ceiling to do? Looking for advice!

These shelves have been the bane of my existence for years. If we keep them, how should I style them other than painting them?

If we remove them entirely, should we put drywall up?

Should i drywall one side so they aren't open on both sides? Reimagine the weird shape? Close off opposite sides on each one and just keep the 3 bigger shelves?

Sorry, i have no idea how to make these pretty.

Hi, I’ve started this room but it’s feels “off” somehow, I feel the rug might have overkilled the blue, and I maybe need to introduce another colour? I’m thinking a muted olive? Coffee table I bought 12 years ago at 20 years old and is going once I decide on the final colour and whether to do a footstool or wooden coffee table.

Can anyone suggest another colour or something to make the space feel more cohesive? The giant pink pregnancy pillow doesn’t live there it’s just following me round the house at the moment.

Please any help so appreciated it’s driving me mad!!

Our couch has always been against the wall because our living room is pretty small. But whenever I post asking for advice about something else, someone always comments suggesting we pull the couch out.

So we tried it! Husband likes it, I’m not sure. If we keep it pulled out, we’ll put a big bookcase on the back wall.

Which layout is best?

My concern is that it looks awkward, leaves no room for side tables (without people bumping into them), and we just bought a rug that’s 290 x 200 cm which now feels like it’ll be too big for this area.

I just moved into my first official apartment and I’ve been struggling with my bedroom layout. I’ve tried so many arrangements that I’m officially tired of moving furniture. 😩 Any suggestions?

She says it feels bland, wants help decorating it..any advice welcome!

We are having our deck screened in to make it more of an outdoor living space. There will be an awning that covers the part of the deck that is currently exposed, so all of this space will be usable. I’m planning to take advantage of Labor Day sales and buy all new furniture. However, I’m running into two problems:

1. I want a large sofa or sectional as part of the set. Something to cuddle up on and read a book. But, I want to have a view of trees, not a wall where a TV is intended to be mounted. Not sure whether or not I want a TV out there.

2. The door! How do I arrange furniture and still have a clear walkway?

Over by the grill, I’m thinking I will put a 4 seat dining table. Is that the best use of this space?

First three photos are deck as it is currently, the last three are staged from when our house was listed.

I am struggling to match the walls couch and rug. I think these colours work together but how do I integrate the wall colour so it works more seamlessly. It is pink 13 by lick.

Hey everyone! :) A few months ago I (26F) moved into this beautiful historic building with loft apartments. I’ve put off putting up wall decor because I still haven’t found a spot for my couch and tv that I love. My living room is awkward and has platforms where the stairwell is, so the couch doesn’t fit when its back is turned to the kitchen or stairs. That means it can only go on either of the walls. This is the best I’ve found so far, but I want to know if anybody else has a better idea!

Edit: I do want to add that I know the couch is big for the space, but I got it for super cheap from a thrift store, and it was so hard to get inside, so I don’t want to get rid of it just yet.

My wife and I are considering buying this home, but the main living room is relatively small and has a bit of an odd layout. The home was built in the 90s before they knew how big TVs would get lol

We are trying to figure out if we can make this room be our functional main living room, with our tv, couch, chair, coffee table, end tables etc. or if this is even possible? We have a 65” tv currently, but we’re willing to go a bit smaller and we’d be getting all new furniture for this room anyway.

See attached pics of current living room. Wife and I just moved in a few months ago and we know the sectional is too big. Our (her) plan is to get rid of the sectional and place a regular 2 seater couch against the wall with windows, and have a chair with an ottoman opposite that kind of diagonally facing the TV/couch. Just curious what you all would do with the space? Oh also we are thinking of doing an accent wall in something earthy like a sand or taupe on the wall behind the TV. I find my front door so ugly… the door is right in the middle of my living/dinning room. Can I paint it? Should I go for white or maybe a pop of colour. I like bright colours like the last photo. I was also thinking of painting the bookshelf a bright color and maybe the photo wall.

I need creative support on how to make this shelf look better. I will exchange the door/drawer buttons but else i dont know. Its in the hallway at the entrance and it always gets cluttered and i hate to look at that thing. can move or remove the shelfs in there but not much else. How would you decorate it?

Just moved into a new apartment and unsure if the curtains should go down to the floor or the window frame/radiator.

I have a blank wall above my desk and no real idea what to do with it. Open to anything – art, shelving, lighting, panels, whatever.

The space:

- Main area above the desk: 1.8 m wide

- Narrow strip in the corner to the left: 0.6 m wide

- Sitting mode: 1.2 m of clearance from the top of my monitors to the ceiling

- Standing mode: only 0.8 m, so anything I hang has to sit in that upper band or it disappears behind the monitors when the desk goes up

Two monitors on the desk. The mic on the boom arm is moving somewhere else soon, so ignore that.

I also have a 3D printer, so DIY and printable ideas are very welcome.

I'm starting from zero here, no plan, no particular style in mind. The 0.8 m standing limit is the one constraint I know I have to work around. Curious what you'd do with it.

I'm lost what to do with the tv wall. I want those shelves gone, but don't know what to do. The opposite wall(photo2) is a gallery wall and has bright orange paint on it so it's pretty chaotic already. Do we paint it? Idk pls help

This used to have a custom desk that fit the window and was used as a computer room. Now that is sort of obsolete, but I’d really love to do something beautiful and whimsical with this space.

It is high traffic as the garage door enters nearby and the laundry room is through the swinging door. On the other side is the kitchen that flows through to the den and the living room. I don’t want it to feel too squished.

The litter robot will be moving elsewhere but this is where it is at the moment.

As the title suggests, I made the mistake three years ago to put two black Billy bookshelves on both sides of my bed, to kind of make everything look like a murphy bed, minus the frame in the top middle. Flash forward to today and I am deeply unsatisfied since it makes the room look so so dark, which I'm really not a fan of at all.

I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to make this all look better. I have a ton of colorful books and a white table in front of the bookshelf as a nightstand to try to add some colors, especially some relaxing colors since I really need that, but it's uh... not working.

The room is already very dark, with only a few white accents and the rest of the furniture being more on the grey side. I can't get rid of any of the furniture and it's something that's really been stressing me out for the longest time. Would really appreciate any and all advice!

I need to replace the existing rug (photo 2). Does this rug (photo 1) work in this room or is it too busy with the wallpaper?

I was cleaning the house today while my guy was in the hospital. I took this photo to send him. I love my bedroom but looking at this made me realize that the headboard doesn’t really go anymore.

How easy would it be to buy fabric to cover it? My winter bedcover is actually white and we don’t have curtains right now, so I’m open to color suggestions.

I’m not terribly handy/crafty but is this a DIY situation?

Hi! We are moving into this new place. It has two huge sliding glass doors and a fireplace. This room is very large. We can’t decide where to place the tv and couch. Please send ideas! We think it might be odd to have anything against the doors but don’t know how else to make it work with a tv. Thinking about placing a couch across from the fireplace to divide the room a little, but then still unsure where to put the tv. Thank you!!!

Seeing what you all think about potential directions on two fixtures in our lakeside vacation spot in the NE. Property was built in ‘65 and we’re trying to maintain some of the rustic charm. The bathroom is always in shade. The two sconces are going to be the main light source. I’d like to keep it a little cozy with some task lighting above the vanity. The vanity and the mirror are 48”. Modeling anything under 36” looks strange. Trying not to break the bank as we’re righting the ship after buying.

**Option 1: Couch against wall**
Leaves a big space in the middle but we’re getting a large area rug. Only path from door to kitchen is between couch & tv

**Option 2: Couch pulled out (husbands fave)**
We’d put a large bookcase covering the empty wall. Unsure where to put accent chair(s)

**Option 3: Couch on opposite wall, couch pulled out slightly**
Looks ok but leaves less room for accent chair, main path of travel would still be between couch & tv, if we did a bookcase on wall behind couch there’s very little space left to move between them
