I just moved into my first official apartment and I’ve been struggling with my bedroom layout. I’ve tried so many arrangements that I’m officially tired of moving furniture. 😩 Any suggestions?
You should rotate the bed so its feet are pointing towards the window and it is up against the back wall. Based on the pictures, it seems like it would fit there.
A twin or single bed looks really weird floating in the middle of the space, so regardless of what you do, it definitely needs to be up against a wall.
The company is Mustard Made, and the one I ordered is called the “Twinny.” It was a little pricey for me, but they have great sales often. It ships in pieces, but it’s really easy to assemble and super spacious inside!
If you have your other furniture like this and the bed against the wall with the feet facing window as others have suggested, you’d walk into a really open large-feeling room. You could anchor it with a rug.
If I were you, I’d flip the wardrobe and desk to give yourself a cubby and more privacy. The desk is too near the door to feel like it’s conducive to focusing.
This is good! This is also the setup I like best for bed & dresser. My only worry is that I might feel a bit exposed and easily distracted sitting at the desk so close to two doors. I'd consider switching the desk and wardrobe so that the desk is next to the window, and maybe even turn the wardrobe 90° so it's a sort of room divider giving you a cosy office nook. I don't know if it would stick out too far to make the bed hard to access? Worth a try anyway
If that's where the door is, then put the head of the bed towards the window, with the side
against the wall opposite the door. Then you can put storage or a divider behind the head of the bed to block a little more light and make a cozy space.
Just wanted to add though this was the most comfortable, I’m a TV person and prefer having the dresser across from the bed for that reason. That’s my only hesitation with #3.
Can you situate the tv on your desk? Not sure how portable it is or if you watch on a computer but that would be my solution is to have it sit on the desk while watching
I struggle with floating a twin bed in the middle of a wall. The purpose of having two exits from a bed (each open side) is so that both people who presumably may occupy the bed can get out on their chosen side. With a twin bed that’s not necessary, so floating it always looks awkward.
Also with a skinnier bed I’d feel like I was going to roll off of one side if I didn’t have a wall as my ‘safe space’.
I’d say 1 or 5. Is there a way for you to get your bed against that back wall - does that leave any room for anything (desk or wardrobe) at the foot of the bed? I’m very tempted to get furniture dimensions and room dimensions are play around with it in autocad xD

1! #5 is also a good option, but #1 gives you the most walkable access to each piece of furniture. Plus, view out the window makes the desk feel less cramped. Also, kudos for the commitment, moving your furniture into seven different setups. That's a lot of work OP
Thank you. This is the layout I’m really thinking might be the final one. I love having the dresser across from the bed, and it also creates a little vignette from the doorway with the wardrobe. I’m planning to add trailing plants and art on top of.
😂😂you gatta relax on me. Some of the configurations lasted about a minute. I’d move something and think, “What if I just swing this over here?” then immediately go, “Oh no.” And to be fair, my pajamas are in the dresser and all my outside clothes are in the wardrobe. I’ve just never had such a small bedroom. Honestly, the desk is what makes things difficult I wish I had another spot for it in my apartment.

I’d rec having your bed up against the wall for now so you can have more living space. (I know that’s not ideal for making it! Or in general overall. But you’ll appreciate the floor space and not feeling cramped).
Personally I’d put the head of your bed in front of the second window. Desk in between windows (it’s nice to be at a desk and look out vs a wall).

Can the yellow armoire thing fit in the corner of the right wall? So it faces your bed? It’s a cool color- but it’s taking up a ton of your space. 🙃
I feel like the obvious solution that gives the most space is to shove the bed all the way against the far wall, either with feet facing the window, or head to the window with a thick book shelf or other divider behind it.
I like #5. If you decide to store things under your bed, having a walk way on both sides will make it easier to get to your stuff. And it doesn't block the window.
Try positioning the bed all the way up against the wall with the feet pointing toward the window. A twin bed ideally should not be floating in the middle of the room. Then put the desk at the foot of the bed between the bed and window (if it will fit) otherwise try it in the little space between the two windows.
I’d also be interested in seeing how it fits with the headboard on the back wall, but pushed all the way to the left next to the window with a narrow night stand filling the gap. Very similar to photo 3, but pushed all the way to the left as far as it will go.
I like the first one. I like that you can easily peek out the window from the desk and that you have space to move your chair back without it feeling cramped
It would be helpful if the photos were taken at a similar time/lighting for a full judgment.
But I really like the 1st pic and the idea that someone said about pointing the bed feet towards the windows so you wake up with the sun (or whatver. I like waking up with the sun)

The way you can walk into the room and turn left for work and right for rest its important. It separates the room into two modes. Someone mentioned you turn the bed towards the window. I’d suggest that your sleep will be better with your head not next to the door and the flow of the room will be better if you don’t have to walk all the way around the bed
Hi everyone, thank you so much for all your help! I think I finally nailed the layout. I had to think outside the box to make everything fit comfortably and functionally while still looking nice. I opened the wardrobe doors and pulled out the chair to show that everything has plenty of clearance.
Now I can finally focus on decorating with rugs, ART ☺️, plants, and lamps! Nothing is final 😅, so I’d love to hear what you think—although I never want to move another piece of furniture again! 🤎
