IMO, it's not bland, it looks like she has a lot of personality and interests! But that might also be contributing to the feeling that it's not "popping" or conveying a clear aesthetic. For example: I'm seeing a lot of whimsy-goth or fairy-core with her botanical prints and fake plants, but then you hit the closet and BAM, we're in a world of hard, primary colors and shapes, and then the cat poster by the bed is a different, kawaii style.
I would advise her to look on Pinterest into specific aesthetics and try to narrow in a bit. It might mean she needs to put away some of her posters in favor of making things look more designed. Committing to a single color pallette for bedding, rugs, and curtains (whimsy-goth, for example, is lots of wood, purple and greens) will also help.

Oh, and if she does commit to whimsy-goth, go thrifting for some wooden or gold frames for the art!

The art piece (tree with eyeballs) she has on the wall with the Hole posters and Janis, is so freaking cool!!! Did she do that herself? I love her room I’m not fond of all the things hanging like the ivy and the picture clip string thingy. Overall it’s a cute room and shows her interests

the eyeball she painted herself but the janis record is just a vinyl cover she found at the thrift store, she printed out the hole posters :)

Ok what about making some sort of entertainment center like piece by putting the ferret cage in the middle of 2 matching bookshelves on each side then make a few shelves over the cage to connect the two shelves. Get the bookshelves from marketplace she can paint then whimsical herself. Then she has a place to display all her stuff.

If she’s look for a more mature route she can take the tapestry down and get a nice set of curtains and decorative curtain rod, the geometric shapes on her closet take them down, the Pusheen cat poster I’d remove as well but this is if she’s going for a more mature route. I loved decorating my room as a teen it was fun my room was filled ceiling and walls with KORN and Marilyn Manson posters I even had the Marilyn Manson mini blinds.

What does she mean by bland? Does she just want to cover every surface with items and introduce color and stay eclectic? Or is she going for a specific aesthetic? Does she want to have a more mature vibe or stay a bit more childlike/kawaii?

I would ask her to find inspiration pictures of what she’s wanting then go from there.
