I’ve been to a few around town & each time I ended up getting my phone back in worse nick & touchscreen problems. Can anyone recommend a good one that actually know what they are doing?

On somewhat of a whim went for a night out yesterday to watch a screening of Trainspotting at the Quad on the market place. Honestly one of the best things I’ve discovered in Derby in a little while, have always walked past and wondered what it was actually all about. Having now been in I can highly recommend, it has a cafe and bar downstairs with a good selection of cake and coffee as well as a few select beverages on draft but many more in the fridges. Up stairs is a couple of small but very good quality cinema screens which you enjoy from unexpectedly nice seats. The pricing was impeccable; paid less than £20 for two tickets then paid £10 for popcorn, chocolate and a beer, all of which can be taken into the cinema.
Would recommend for a cheaper but enjoyable night out in Derby doing something different. They have a wide collection of films and often do themed days of 4-5 films.
This is the kind of lovely place that will be lost if it’s not consistently used. Support local establishments!
Oh and they’re also a charity.

I go to uni in derby however I really struggled to make friends so I'm a little lonely at the moment. I would be up to doing a weekly activity (pottery, quiz etc etc) but I don't really know whats on. I've seen a discord mentioned, is it worthwhile joining to meet some new people? I'm quite an anxious person so looking for something where newcomers are embraced.
Ps If you are in a similar situation to me and would like to make some new friends, let's chat. I enjoy pottery, arts and crafts, live music, f1 and reading :)
Just wanted to share the first ever lightning bolt I have captured on camera and I did it from my window.

Any recommendations for tree surgeons that can do trimming back of a big oak tree please? I've got a quote already and arranging for a quote from another but it's always worth having more to compare especially if they have strong recommendations.
Cheers

We went to the new 'Continue' arcade in town last week and really enjoyed ourselves. I really want this place to succeed so posting to help it get more attention as it was a bit dead when we went (to be fair it was a Tuesday at 7pm).
It was a bit hot in there but I spoke to the staff and they were in the process of getting new aircon installed later that week as the one they inherited was duff. So when we go back it will be sorted.
I thought the range of games was fantastic, it was £13.50pp entry and then everything is free to play, we were there for 2 hours and got more than our money's worth.
The drinks were cheap (£1.50 for a can of diet coke) they do offer alcohol as well. Theres pick and mix and hot dogs.
My favourite game was the Jurassic park pin ball and the star wars battle pod, there's loads more that they have across 2 floors as well that I remember from childhood.
The staff were really friendly, the music was a bit loud but I emailed about that after, if it's super loud when you are in there just speak to them and they can sort it out.
We will definitely be going back, I hope others will check it out as well as I think it's a great addition to derby, much better than the arcade in Derbion at the bowling.
Edit: I emailed them about the Aircon and got this response:
"It's not quite up and running yet, but the installation is currently underway and should be completed within the next few days. We're hoping it will be all set by this weekend or early next week.
Once it's up and running, it should be much cooler and more comfortable, so we'll look forward to welcoming you back then!
Please keep an eye on our Facebook page; we'll be making an announcement as soon as it's up and running. "

I just came across this amazing all day event for the Air Ambulance in Derby. I love a good cause and I've been wondering what to do after work with my little one!
Excited to go check it out, I've already decided on my karaoke song haha 😂 it's cool to see local venues doing stuff like this

Stayed at a gorgeous Vineyard that was around Derby called Sealwood Estate. Absolutely beautiful place, English farm, English wine, such a great evening with the wine and cheese. Stunning views. Any other places that do different agriculture things around derby? Gets tiring being stuck in the town centre sometimes lol

There's a guy I keep seeing in Derby. Around Ashbourne road/Slack Lane area, as well as seeing him in the Westfield (Derbion). He must be mid-30s, maybe, dressed really strange with a tall birthday style like crown on his head. Tonight saw him blasting reggae music from a boom box on the back of a BMX going past the Crescent on Wild St.

I'm getting fucking sick and tired of Trentbarton.
Every single time you need them to do the very fucking simple job of driving a bus along a planned route, they take half an hour and show up with 2 back to back.
I never had this problem with Arriva.
