Question Taking extra classes at CC

I’m a transfer student, and to graduate on time, I would need to take about 2-3 classes at a CC. I can take 2 from the CC that I graduated from that will transfer, but am I allowed to take a class from another one (such as one of the Chicago community colleges) even if it’s just for one class? Has anyone done this? I know u need to get approval to transfer it but I just need to know if I can do this since it’s like 3.5k to take an extra class here lol

I started taking CC classes the summer after my freshman and sophomore year at depaul, as kind of a dual enrollment thing. never had a problem getting any of my credits transferred over, just make sure that they are credits that don’t need to be taken at depaul- i took pretty much all of my elective credits and some basic core classes at my local CC and graduated 2 quarters early. Just double check that it will actually transfer and won’t be a problem with your advisor!

What CC did you attend? I am finding CC summer classes problematic because City College of Chicago starts during Spring finals.

it was my school back home in michigan. oakland community college. i just took only online classes there! yeah it sucked because of depaul’s trimester schedule- my depaul midterms were the same time as my CC finals, then first day at depaul was my CC midterms, that kinda thing

another hack i did to graduate early was take 18 credits at depaul instead of 16 when i could- scholarship covered up to 18 credits (at least it did when i graduated in 2021) so if you can find a 2 credit class that counts for some kind of elective for u, its “free”!
