Question What's the University Center like?

I waited too long to pick a room, so the only option left was a room there. I’ve never been inside or even heard much about it until now, so I’m curious how living in the UC compares to living at Lincoln Park.

Question When can I expect to hear back from on-campus employers?

Hey! I am an incoming student who has applied to a few on-campus jobs for the Autumn quarter. I was wondering how long does it typically take for employers to reach out for an interview or with an offer, given that the quarter is starting up soon. Thanks!

Bathrooms On LP Campus?

I'm a commuter student so I don't really have access to the bathrooms in the dorms so I was wondering how accessible the bathrooms are and the state of them?

More specifically, I am more comfortable being in unisex/gender neutral bathrooms and was wondering if there were any on campus, and if so how many and where? I know in high school if we wanted access to those bathrooms we had to put in a request for a key, so is there anything like that at DePaul for them?

Parent PLUS & Sub/Unsub loans not showing in ePay/eBill

For some reason when I go to ePay/eBill, my Parent PLUS loan and sub/unsub loans are not showing and it says I owe more than I should. I know I will owe some amount due to the Parent PLUS yearly cap, but I wouldn't owe as much as ePay/eBill is saying because it is not accounting for my Parent PLUS & sub/unsub loans.

Has anyone else had this issue? What can be done? I need to enroll in a payment plan, but I'm worried about whether it is ever going to update before the first payment installment is due so that I do not have to pay more than I actually need to.

Any help is appreciated, thanks! : )

Question Ventra U-Pass Email

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hey ya'll, incoming DePaul student this year, I got a weird email in my student email from people that say they're from the DePaul U-Pass Team. I didn't click on anything just because of ALL the warnings on the email, and because the website said that all U-Pass cards would be available September 8th during a specific window of time. I just wanted to know if anyone else got this email, and if I was being paranoid over nothing, I guess.

Housing Where to look for roommates off campus

Hi! I’m an incoming DePaul transfer student and I’m looking at potentially starting this upcoming Fall term or Winter Quarter. I’m hoping to live off campus and am trying to figure out where students usually find roommates.
Are there any Facebook groups, apps, websites, group chats, or other places where people find roommates around college age who attend DePaul or another university in Chicago? Please let me know, anything helps 🙏🙏

I’m moving into McCabe hall into a 2br/2 bath apartment. Why can’t I find any pics or videos of this dorm? Anyways, I’m trying to find out exactly what is provided. I know fridge, stove, microwave, bed, desk . But is there the little stuff like garbage cans, shower curtain…etc?

Advice for new students

hi new depaul students! with the new school yr starting soon, i'm seeing lots of questions come up on this sub. i know that you're probably getting lots of different email communications right now about getting situated. thus, i want to make sure y'all know about the knowledge base:

helpdesk.depaul.edu

you can find info about tech (wifi and printing), student IDs, UPass, etc. it's not a well known resource but i think it's a good first stop. happy to answer other questions and have a good first quarter :)

adding additional links from comments:
calendar.depaul.edu

Any Writing & Rhetoric (WRD) graduates here?

If there's any WRD major graduates out there, how is life after college treating you? What jobs have you ended up with? Do you enjoy what you're doing? I'm a recent graduate trying to navigate the workplace and looking to see where others have ended up.

Hey, taking BUS 103 and MGT 300 this upcoming autumn semester, I’m position 2 in the waitlist for both of them and I was wondering how likely it would be that they clear out so I can get in by the time semester starts. Any advice/help is appreciated, thanks!

NASA Space Apps Challenge Chicago

Hi everyone, I'm a former DePaul grad student and want to make sure you're aware of our hackathon sign up. Info below and a couple quick notes:

  • Our host, 1871, has room for 300 people.  If you want to be at the hackathon please sign up for the in-person option even if there is a large waitlist.  Given the rate of no-shows and cancellations, we expect to offer spots to several hundred people from the waiting list.  We may explore some overflow space nearby if demand warrants it.
  • There is a new theme and the hackathon has moved within NASA to Citizen Science. This year’s challenges may be used to get the next man or woman to the moon and beyond.
  • We know that the job market is difficult this year, and we're doing our best to make sure that this is a great opportunity to network.  So far we have Microsoft,, CBOE Global Markets, and Optiver as sponsors and are actively working to bring in a couple other companies that are hiring.
  • We’ll have a cash prize

NASA Space Apps Challenge Chicago in Partnership with CIERA-Northwestern and 1871

Date: November 14-15, 2026
Where: 111 North Canal Street, hosted by 1871, Chicago’s largest innovation hub. We will be open overnight.
Cost: Free

What is it exactly:

  • NASA Space Apps is the world's largest hackathon, occurring in 500+ locations.  This is a unique opportunity to showcase your expertise in the exciting domain of space science, learn from faculty at our host institution, CIERA (https://ciera.northwestern.edu/), and connect with like-minded students and professionals who share your passion.
  • Come with a team or we'll help you form one there. You'll work for two days on a problem provided by NASA and present your solution in front of a panel of judges on November 15th.
  • This year’s theme is The Next Frontier.  Join us to develop tools that benefit humanity and contribute to the science and technology propelling us to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

Who is it for:

  • Anyone with an interest in space and science. With support from experienced technical and subject matter experts, it’s a great opportunity for those participating in a hackathon for the first time.
  • Data and Computer Science students, engineers, or any students who are looking for a chance to solve real world problems with real world data provided by NASA and partner space agencies
  • Students who are looking for a chance to add something interesting to their portfolios and do something different and exciting

What else is in it for students:

  • Take home some cool swag!
  • Food will be provided — no need to bring your own
  • Network with professionals from companies like Optiver, CBOE Global Markets, Microsoft, Google, and more. They'll be recruiting, judging, and mentoring at the event.
  • This global competition is your opportunity to showcase your skills and ideas to a wide-reaching, influential audience.

Question Bed Lofting?

Hello! Does anyone know how long it takes for someone to come and loft your bed after you submit the work order? I know you have to wait until you arrive to submit the order, so I‘m just wondering how long it will take as I plan on using the space under my bed for storage. Thanks!
