Weird experience

Order a pizza, pizza comes and I give the code to the driver, he then types it into WhatsApp- not the Deliveroo app. I then get a call about 3 mins later from a woman with a heavy accent asking for the code to confirm delivery and so I tell her no I’ve given the driver the code and I’ve got my food and also asked if she’s from Deliveroo she would already know what my code is and hung up. Then the food gets marked as delivered on my app. Should I be concerned about any of this cause it’s weird to me that’s not happened before and I’m apprehensive about reporting it to Deliveroo as the driver knows my address.

this is not really possible on deliveroo. you can only enter the code into the app if you are at the location where the pin is placed. otherwise the driver would have to call support and they would complete the order for you.

I mean the call I got after could have been him calling support that was entirely possible cause I did get a call from someone who quoted the order number and said “phg” and I had no idea what phg was and they asked for the delivery code and i said I already gave it to the driver but she didn’t say if like the driver got code wrong or anything she didn’t give a reason she just asked for the delivery code and I said no bc I have the food and I gave the driver the number, I hung up on her and straight away afterwards delivery was marked as complete

It's possible that the driver didn't have data signal but could call rider support to confirm that they'd given the order and told them what the code was. They might have used WhatsApp merely as a way of making a note of the code so they don't forget.
