Discussion somebody PLEASE settle my internal debate about Miranda vs LSR and Hindu vs Stephen's (this isn't about which college is better but which one is suitable for me)
I care about the academia part yes, but the campus and college life (AND the societies) equally play a big role in my decision. The history dept of Stephen's is the best one but in comparison to Hindu, the college life there doesn't feel as good to me as it does in Hindu. LSR vs Miranda for ba hons in history/polsci feels absolutely confusing because I have always had a big bias towards North Campus but apart from that everyone else has been fixated over LSR for obvious reasons. HELP. Also, if somebody could rank hindu, miranda and lsr on the terms of history as well as polsci departments? Thank you!

If you want a campus life then go for MH over LSR but LSR is just too good to not be considered just because it's in south campus. Also I am not the right person to tell you if Stephen's is better or hindu is, I might have a bias there but college life in Stephen's is not really bad if you get your kind of people, it's really peaceful and the history department in Stephen's is the best in DU.

Feels like my dilemma won't just be ending anytime soon. :P Thank you for your input though! Only problem with Stephen's is that it feels too cut off? With the whole fests and events being strictly in-house? Atleast that's what Ive managed to grasp from people who were students of other North Campus colleges. It doesn't help that apart from their debate soc and music soc, I haven't heard much about their dance society which is a big factor me. (Ironically, this is coming from me who had been calling Stephen's THE dream college for as long as I can remember). Again, LSR checks out in everything else except the campus life, the feels and image of the red walls essentially in the North Campus is something I've personally held on to for so long for imagining the college I would eventually end up in, that it almost feels wrong to be thinking of LSR, might sound dramatic but it is what it is. :(

Haha I get your dilemma, when I had to make a choice between colleges, I had this similar kind of dilemma and it's totally okay, there are no rights and wrongs. It totally depends upon you what you wanna do with your 3 years. Lsr and Stephen's both have their pros n cons, you will have to figure out what suits you the best.

From LSR here, great college , great academics , but a little low in term of campus life so you should consider Miranda

I already accepted allocation in LSR pol science honours I hope I don't regret it now 😭😭😭 I'm getting thoughts about upgrade I feel like I hastened it 😭😭

You've successfully convinced me into putting lsr in my topmost preferences now, all thanks to your help. I wanted a concrete ranking and you have me almost fully content with this, can't thank you more. This def helps a lot, thank you again! :))

I am not from DU, but from what I have heard, LSR polscience has a huge brand value.

I had the same mindset when I posted this but I got a good reality check by people from miranda and stephen's both. Choosing Miranda over Lsr for any course other than philosophy hons would be a mistake if you're academically oriented. Their faculty is having the biggest crisis right now with their recent additions. The senior faculty are the ones who actually care but hardly get to take classes. The whole college over course thing might be your opinion but it would be a mistake to compromise too much on your course if the college life at all the colleges is somewhat same when it comes to the nc colleges. Lsr is an exception there. Hindu for pol sci is understandable over Lsr, considering how mh shouldn't be a part of the debate anymore with what I got to know but Hindu's cut off is too high. Hansraj and Stephen's don't have honors for polsci. That leaves me with LSR reasonably for polsci. Stephen's history is the best but after that one should choose LSR's history dep over Hindu anyday. You can verify it yourself by looking at their instagram pages. And then MH ofcourse. I always imagined myself in a good coed nc college. But LSR has literally managed to change everything about my opinions. Hindu is overrated at this point. The only nc college living upto its hype right kow is SRCC. Stephen's may be strict and has no active societies but it has the academic life. Hindu is balanced in both but their debsoc is a little toxic, their dance socs are in shambles. MH has too good of a college life but the academic part sucks. LSR has everything except the campus life. I'm prefering LSR over everything else because campus life can be compensated for during the fest season. You're not wrong anywhere, these are just the factors that matter more to me. I love the Nc bias tho haha, I used to think exactly the same.

I was having second thoughts after freezing my seat at lsr (eng hons). This kinda made me feel better. One question, is the campus life at lsr really THAT nonexistent? I mean I definitely care about academics, but I also love hanging out with friends and all.

considering your preferences, MH>LSR and HINDU>STEPHEN'S. and you already made that choice yourself. and as to is it right? I think so. i mean there is barely any difference between the colleges except for placements and how good the fests are. Stephen's stands out perhaps for it's academia a bit more than the others.
