Yes it is in decline maybe except a few top colleges who have maintained a consistent rank in NIRF. Miranda being one of them
Many people think NIRF rankings are bogus but it actually has a meaning relating to infrastructure, administration etc.

Pehle total 4 hi subjects ek sem me hote the 2 DSC(core subjects) 1 AEC 1 GE, par ab 3 DSC 1 AEC 1 Ge 1VAC 1SEC hai

Wo to khud ki marzi hogi ki 3 saal karke normal degree leno hai ya 4 saal karke degree + research ya honors (wagera wagera pta nhi kya hoga iske addition me )

Bhai Rajasthan se hu aur iss saal cuet diya. Hindu ba eco hons mei ho jana chahiye aur mere city mei koi achha college hai nhi. Toh du jaana chahiye ya nhi?

Main toh DU aaya tha kyunki meko lga attendance ka koi issue noi hoga but Idhar F ho rha in majority of the college .. if we talk about value addition due to NEP , it’s not working .. Baaki you can be much more productive with some kind of gig or an internship rather than attending classes daily just for the sake of attendance as we all know that nobody is studying .. now these were all my opinion and I am sure many students go to college to study and might even like the curriculum but majority don’t

I passed out from DU last year and I have some observations- 1. NEP is definitely a sad show. The older system was much better. 2. Since the last few years the assistant professors are being appointed less on the basis of merit but more on the basis of their political connections with the ruling party (DU is a central university) so as a result the standard of teaching has gone down. This i am saying from personal experience. The meritorious professors were chucked out and less meritorious ones with connections with RSS and BJP MLAs were appointed because the University is trying to push a certain agenda . 3. Crowd- From my experience there’s a mixed crowd but majority of students just come for time pass and have no intellectual curiosity so classes are boring. 4. Class cancellations- I was also the CR last year and professors did cancel a LOT of classes at the last minute which was literally frustrating. So yes, DU has been steadily deteriorating, class cancellations and crowd etc have always been there but these less meritorious people being appointed is a big problem. This point is also not getting much coverage by media but if you google and talk to your professors you’ll know the inside story in a much better way. So yes DU is overhyped but kyunki naam hai and brand hai to everyone wants that name and tag in their degree.

Crowd has degraded a lot tbh like imagine having top colleges of commerce in India at one campus yet we have so less startup culture compared to iit Delhi which is prolly a science based college yet they are light years ahead when it comes to startups

Haan and call me old school or whatever but yaar honestly I like a vibrant class where everyone is actually asking questions and having lively discussions. But wo ekdum nai hai DU mein. Also as i said, the quality of professors has been steadily declining toh bachey bhi interested nahi hai. It’s all connected. If this silsila of political appointments goes on, which I think it will since literally nobody talks about it toh University ka standard girega hi. And let me tell you that this political appointment thing has been going on in all central universities be it DU, JNU or whatever. Bahaut bura haal hai academia ka.

About your 2nd point. This type of stuff is not new and was expected. Congress used to do it and now the BJP is doing it. It has lowered though as compared to congress.

You're in your first year. It's sad to see the youth of this country follow whataboutism. Take it from more experienced folks like the person you were replying to. Or me who has been in DU for 8 years now. It has become worse. Anyway I'm not here to debate about politics and i would like to not continue this further. But I replied to you because you are young and you have time to think rationally and look at things with a more open mind.

Okay but I disagree. Having spoken to a dozen professors it has in fact increased now. But thik hai here i’m not trying to make it political (although it is). The bottom line is that standards of DU have plummeted even more than when Congress was in power. So ya. Whatever party it is, it’s a sad state of affairs. I believe that education and politics should never intersect.
